After a long day out with kids we were looking for a nice place for a family meal in Newquay town…read morecentre and we happened to come across Concho Lounge purely by chance. When we entered and saw the layout and interiors we had to stay. The ground floor is extremely spacious and has a relaxed atmosphere. There are the standard tables and chairs or you can grab one of the sofas and relax. We saw a fair mix of young/single as well family groups so it appears to cater to and popular with all. Both the food and drink menu is extensive and have a number of options but we went for the Tapas. A good selection of Tapas dishes which are reasonably priced (£3.75 for 1 or £9 for 3). There is a kids menu as well. We loved the Pulled Chicken and Chorizo, the Haloumi and Courgette were out of the world. The wife told me that the Squid were nice too. A wide range of cocktails, mock-tails or beer/wine is available to accompany the food. A large glass of Malbec under £6 was a bargain. The cocktails were well made and reasonably priced. The place is spread over two floors and also a terrace so I am sure you will find a place. You don't have to wait to be seated and you can sit where you like. The system is to order at the bar and they bring the food over so take a note of the table number. I am sure you will find what you crave for in the extensive menu. The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient and enhances the overall experience. Highly recommend you to check this place out if you are in or around Newquay.

You come here to run with the stags, do shots, and generally get a little messy. Scrap that. An awful lot messy. Its not big, its not clever and you certainly don't go to these places in London, but its Newquay, what happens in Newquay stays in Newquay. Er, until you Yelp about it, that is. Belushi's is a big, its right on the beach and is also right on the stag party trail. It's a decent place to start your evening. Drinks don't cost the earth. One of the bar men was kind of hot. I got to play table football (which unleashed my competitive side....I WANT TO WIN, DAMN IT!!). Hung out with a gimp-ed up stag and his herd, who were actually fun. All a-ok. Do a Sambucca and move on. Next bar please.

I'm giving a Belushi's 4 stars? What madness is this?…read more For context - the Belushi's I'm used to is a scummy dive off Covent Garden, where you end up when you're already rat-arsed and all the pubs are closing. After you've unstuck your feet from the floor you'll probably order some shots of something disgusting which seems like a good idea at the time, and will leave you reeling in the seventh circle of hell the next day. This Belushi's...is a little bit different. The bar/restaurant area is pretty spacious, with high tables, sofas and a glorious seaview terrace. I'll admit my review is biased, because I have a Tastecard giving me 50 per cent off food here - so for three days my friend and I dined on ludicrously cheap Belushi's fare. And you know what? The food's actually decent. The last night we came here we ordered steak, which worked out at...oooh...approximately £5.50 each. £5.50! At that price, it would be rude not to order some shots of Agwa (£2) and a bottle of wine (£14) to wash it down with...ah wait, perhaps this is more like the Belushi's I'm used to. But my feet never stuck to the floor, I never ended up with my face in some stranger's armpit, and I never stopped appreciating the view from that terrace. Next time I'm in Newquay...I'll be back.

I settled for a pint of Skinner's Lushingtons Sunshine Pale Ale, which was fresh and crisp. The Cribbar offers the full gammut of alcoholic and soft drinks, as well as typical British pub grub. The location is not quite so great (not close enough to the beach, and with no great view), in fact it seems a bit "lost". Sports TV is available, and of course, the football World Championships were on. (Fairly unattractive) outside seating is also available. By far the most original aspect of The Cribbar is the toilet - differently colored urinals and fairly elaborate installations - including a sofa???! Someone's imagination got away from him there. Very clean, too. Really, no place to linger for me, but fine for what it is - Newqay is not known as the real ale capital ... of anything.

I have definitely never been in a brighter one. The toilets are particularly colourful! I enjoyed a curry (I've always rather enjoyed the Wetherspoons curries) and a nice pint of Chough gold. Looks very classy, comfy and with an interesting menu. Our Bulldog was welcome inside as well. Had two cocktails for a start: Frozen Watermelons and Better Than Blue Lagoon. Both visually very nice drinks. Colourful. But taste-wise a bit weak and a tad too sweet for our taste. Had some bread and makarel paté with that. Pretty strong flavour, but we enjoyed it. Might not be for everybody though. Seafood platter & Steak'n'fries as mains. Mussels, clams, shrimp, lobster legs and scallops in the platter. For the price it definitely could have been a bigger load. Was fresh enough, but we've had way better tasting seafood at other places. The steak was ok. Not a prime cut, but the flavour was fine. Fine. Not more. Fries were good though. Had a bottle of white wine with that. Nice, cold, crisp. The views with the sun shining in are pretty nice here. Not right at the beach, but nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. The chairs/benches were a bit tough and it got uncomfortable after a while. But it's a dog-friendly place. That's a plus. Paid in the end around 120£ for everything. Not exactly cheap. And way too much for what we got in return. Food was really average at best. An ok dinner, but not more. Once was ok to try. But we didn't go back the other nights. Looks more classy and upscale than it is in the end. Especially food-wise.

The food is fine, it's typical 'pub grub' with a few interesting items on the menu. One of the best things for families is that it has lots of outside seating and an attached play area - both local and visiting children love it and the parents get a break then. We really enjoy going to The Unicorn and visit once or twice a fortnight normally.

Now operated by youngsters standing around chatting to each other who don't have a clue .we ordered food at the bar , only 4 tables occupied (red flag as usually full) waited approx 45 mins for food when fourth table who ordered after us got there food it was apparent our order wasn't coming ! Our order on the computer didn't go through to kitchen, so the youngsters blamed that .Appalling experience, so don't waste your time and money. So disappointing as it always was our first choice for a pub meal and a chat with the locals at the bar ( none in there on a Friday night) No food specials on the board and no advertisement of future events, live music or quiz night etc.

The real ale lover…read morewill find several "cask marque"-approved hand-pumped ales, all well-kept and fresh, although the selection is a tad conventional. The spacious inside seating is divided into several areas; unfortunately, the outside ^seating provided on the ground floor level is limited and only in the back of the pub (without any view). Traditional pubs in Newquay are rather few and far between, and only a handful of them are cask-marque. Red Lion is one of the better options; what would only rate as a medium-quality pub in other, more real-ale friendly towns must rank as a superior one in cocktail-bar-focused Newquay. It is a popular place especially among older patrons (such as myself), and can get quite busy towards the late afternoon, early evening. The food on offer is superior pub grub, and my dish (grilled whitefish on beetroot, with small potatoes and a rather sad "salad" garnish) was decent but nothing to write home about. While I had drinks at the Red Lion several times during my stay I decided not to eat there again. Service was down-to-earth and friendly, if a bit rushed (the place wasn't even half-full). The meal arrived in due course though. Have a look at my photos for a better impression of the pub.
