i was visiting my relatives who live in this residential part of orlando and we came to the…read morecommunity center for a dip in the pool. with temps in the low 90s plus high humidity, the cooling water in the pool felt great! the pool ranges from 3.5 ft to 5.5 ft and is large enough for several families to enjoy together at the same time. if you come early in the morning, you could swim laps since the pool is likely to be empty at that time. they also offer small group classes for children 3 and up. there are plenty of loungers and umbrella'd tables around the perimeter of the pool and you can bring your own refreshments to enjoy after a swim. next to the pool is a gym with cardio machines and free weights. there are also separate men's & women's restrooms for your convenience. the community center also has a basketball court and two tennis courts, but you'll need to bring your own equipment to participate. there is ample, free parking next to the basketball & tennis courts. you'll need a resident badge to swipe in and access the facilities, which is good since it ensures that those who aren't supposed to be here cannot enter the main gate.

CCM incorporates those of high character and integrity within its leadership, and is centered around compassion and teaching to those afflicted by chronic addiction, homelessness, or episodic crisis. To be transparent I was in a very dark and dangerous place when I entered the program in November of 2018. I had come to a breaking point from a life riddled with traumas that I was unable to navigate due to a lack of learned coping skills and failed relationships. Spencer has formulated several phases with learning objectives, or benchmarks, that the clients must complete to move on through their program. I completed the program in January of 2020 and continued to stay and participate in the teachings and move into a mentorship role as a graduate until the end of October of 2020. This extra time allowed me to continue building upon my foundation, continue to dwindle my debt and increase my savings, repair old relationships and foster new healthy relationship - ultimately, leading to a better chance of success in being a productive and integrated member of my community. For those speaking to the program "taking all their money", one must consider that many individuals were not made to pay their bills and be responsible with their financials prior to entering such a program. The program does instill the necessity and healthy habits of paying rent, by having the clients pay their program fees each month. The program also emphasizes that the clients repay their owed debts so that they may increase their credit scores allowing them to be able to upon graduation apply for renting their own space or even purchase their own vehicle. Many individuals enter with exorbitant amounts of debt, that with the added responsibility of paying for their housing and treatment (which by the way is an unprecedently low fee for such treatment), will take time. This may appear to those still have not advanced to a mature mindset are having all of their money taken. It is important to consider one's situation when entering and their position when leaving (no matter when that is) to offer perspective - and truth. CCM is a true blessing the community and to those who have nowhere else to turn to. For me, undoubtedly, the program has instilled sound values, healthy habits, and a real opportunity to live a good life. I was shocked after not going to the…read morebranch in over a year due to in person classes being canceled I went to get a book for my children and the lady recognize both of my children even remembering their names. The staff is efficient with quick check in check out they have a great computer section with awesome games for the children. The only reason this isn't five stars is the book collection is very very limited especially foreign language books. Also the in person class offered for younger children and lower elementary children is also very sparse even before Covid. However these shortcomings may simply be due to less people patronizing this branch compared to the downtown branch. It does seem to have a lot less people coming in and the classes they do offer always seem to not be super super well attended. I'm guessing that's just because of the location. They do seem to do everything possible to make it a wonderful library experience and provide value to community without any additional cost for example the staff getting to know their patrons and going out of their way to remember of what type of books the children like and guide the children to those books.

Winter Park sprang up around a railroad track laid in 1880 by the South Florida Railroad that connected Orlando to Sanford. Hannibal Square was founded in 1881 as an African-American community of laborers who built the town and worked as domestic servants to the areas wealthy families. The people who lived in Hannibal Square had educational opportunities, prosperity, and professional standing. The railroad tracks served as the dividing line in the town with whites living on the east side and blacks to the west. While visiting Hannibal Square I enjoyed taking in the charming architecture, Shady Park, the Hannibal Square Heritage Center, restaurants, and shops. Hannibal Square is not as busy as the Park Ave area of town but it is still near enough to it that you could easily walk there.

The parking lot was fairly crowded when I went here. There ample parking for bicycles as there was several bicycles parked there. Good programs going on it seems from book clubs to classes. The library fairly big. Good collection of books. I especially loved the music selection as many solid CDs across many different genres from classic albums to greatest hits collections.
