Their quality is excellent, their design is extraordinary and beautiful (truly, the best-looking leather business cases I have ever seen), and their customer service is even better. I mistakenly ordered the wrong design on my second briefcase and they immediately sent me a free exchange label and had the replacement to me within a matter of days. This is a company that deserves the patronage of people who value high quality goods at fair prices and transacted by professional, intelligent, and eminently helpful salespeople. I look forward to doing business with them again in the future and referring my colleagues to them. (I bought two of the same design of men's briefcases because, as a mid- to senior career professional, I need a good, sturdy, and capacious briefcase. I also want something that looks good. I looked for a handsome and practical briefcase for many years before stumbling upon Aston. Glad I did. I've gotten many compliments. It's a gorgeous case.)

It is a true hippie leather store, and one of their best products is their custom leather sandals made from a tracing of your foot. They'll do all repairs on them, and these will last you years and years--trust me. Carol is the woman who runs the store, and Josh is the estranged son of Dick, the founder. ("I was a sandal slave," Josh told me once about his summers growing up, making sandal parts. He also told me once that Dick was the "sandal king," which he is.) You can get leather hats, bags, and belts, in addition to the aforementioned sandals. It's a great place to hang out, too.

Less than two weeks after purchase, the fabric appeared discolored after I got caught in a very light rain/mist. I gently tried to clean it using a toothbrush and water. The discoloration grew. When I took the bag back to the store, the owner blamed me for trying to clean the bag. I told her I thought a $450 handbag should be more durable. She told me care instructions were on a website that she tells all customers about. However, she never mentioned a website to me and when I pointed that out, she once again blamed me -- it was my fault for not asking if there was a website. Huh? I'm going to try to get a refund directly from my credit card company. I'm totally frustrated by this experience as I want to support small businesses and female entrepreneurs, but this was a terrible experience. Poor quality product, terrible customer service. Concerned about the longevity of this cute shop.

I wish I had read through these reviews before investing $500 in a Kempton & Co. bag…read more Similar to some of the other reviewers, I also experienced discoloration on my bag--after just one wear! And this happened twice! The first time around, I expected what would be a normal, adequate response: that they would refund or exchange the bag. Not so! Instead, I spent three weeks bringing my bag back into the store (one time having to wait an hour for the store to open because they happened to be late that day), awaiting feedback/response from them, and waiting for it to be sent out to their "specialists". After this lengthy process, they said they would have the bag cleaned and cover the cost (umm, shouldn't that be a given??). They then came back and said the discoloration was from denim, and suggested I stay away from wearing the bag with jeans (which I wear every day). The extremely unhelpful manager told me to "have fun with the bag! wear it with your dresses and skirts!". Unhappily, I took the bag back, and after a few weeks of being scared to take it out of the dust bag, decided to give it another go. I wore it one day with a white dress (devoid of any color, just in case). The next day, I wore it with a light grey cotton dress. And low and behold, that evening I noticed staining on the bag! I once again reached out to the store, and the response I got was essentially the same as before "Every bag that is purchased from our store has a leather care card inside for guidelines regarding light-colored bags, and dyes having the potential to crock onto them. Additionally, we have further instructions on our website for care and maintenance. We address care instructions with purchase due to this potential crocking being increased with a white bag. This is the nature of a white item's affinity to coloration." So basically: I cannot wear this bag with jeans. I cannot wear it with dresses. My question for Kempton & Co. is, what can I wear it with!? Do yourself a favor: avoid this store. They have cute, unique style but the quality is abysmal and the customer service even worse.

He fixed the clasp, added more holes in the strap and looped the excess so that it's not in the way. He reconditioned the entire bag and now it looks brand new. I was inspired to make a DIY journal cover and went here with no experience of leather working. They have a bin of scrap leather for purchase and some sale items. Sale items are on refundable. Minimum purchase is a whole hide or half hide for bigger ones. Their smaller hides are lamb skin which was around $50-60 bucks for a medium size. Their cow hide, they can do half hide which is what I did since it was so big. I got quite a few journal covers out of that as well as a couple passport holders.
