I wish I would have found MuttWorks sooner, I would list names but there are so many. When we took…read moreour 6-month-old (now almost a year old) German Shepard to them, he was very reactive, scared of going out to stores, the vet, or meeting new people... All of these were a nightmare for me (and him). Now we can go out to stores, do outdoor activities, and even with groups of people. I was so impressed with how they turned his training around that I have also taken his "sister" a 4-month-old German Shepard to have her trained as well (dropped her off for training at 12 weeks old to start her off right). I took 2 handfuls (fur babies) in and got 2 very well-behaved best friends back. After 6 months we are now in protection training, and it is going great. The classes are very informative and, most importantly, fun because let's be honest, if you're not having fun then your pet is not having fun and now, you're not going to classes. Everybody I have interacted with at MuttWorks has been very professional, friendly and more importantly, THEY LOVE AND TREAT EVERY SINGLE DOG THEY TRAIN LIKE THEIR OWN.

We purchased a Central Asian Ovcharka from Gary. He was 5 months old when we bought him (Odin). The…read morestory we were told is that they had kept him back for possible breeding stock and then decided not to keep him. Within the first few days of having Odin we noticed a strange limp. We immediately told Gary and that we were going to have our vet evaluate. We spent $750 on vet appointments and X-rays to be told that Odin has extreme hip dysplasia and it would only be a matter of time before he couldn't walk based on his expected size. We were referee to a top surgeon in Texas who reviewed the X-rays and confirmed that outside of a total hip replacement ($10k per hip), which they couldn't guarantee would work on a dog of this size, there was nothing that could be done for him. We were heartbroken. Despite providing Gary all details from our vet, he insisted that he was going to get an opinion from his own vet as if he didn't believe what 3 vets had told us. We returned Odin to him. He then told us that after his vet review that not only were his hips an issue, but his elbows as well. We asked for our money back. Since then, we've been given numerous statements. We were told there is no health guarantee. There is a difference between a health issue developing later in life and someone selling you a dog that has an existing hip issue. We were then told that he would replace the dog. We told Gary we did not want a dog from the same bloodline as our vet indicated it is a genetic defect. Gary then told us that he would offer us a different breed of dog, but we would have to pay the difference. We told him we weren't interested in a different breed and again asked for a refund. Gary is now ignoring all communications and we are being forced to turn this over to our attorney. I assure you that there are great breeders out there who would do the right thing in a situation like this. Instead, Gary has decided to turn a heart breaking situation for us into a bigger pain. I hope sharing our experience will prevent others from ending up in this situation with this breeder.
