Tuesday morning, we heard a lot of noise in our house in Austin and after some quick looking around, we found the source of the noise -- a squirrel who'd gotten into our chimney and landed -- alive -- in our fireplace. Because of a fireplace screen, he wasn't going anywhere, but we needed him out. After calling a lot of people who couldn't come out that day or who wanted to create a long involved process of sending an "inspector" out, then sending someone out a few days later, I happened to find Urban Jungle while doing a Google search. We called them and they had someone out within an hour. When Will showed up, he came prepared with several kinds of traps because he said squirrels were especially sensitive to being picked up. Amazingly enough, once Will started trying to trap the squirrel, the squirrel ran right back up and out of the chimney. However, the next day, Will came back to seal off entry to the chimney. When it was all said and done, we paid a very reasonable price and Will did good work. Another benefit of Urban Jungle is that their staff all have degrees in wildlife biology or related fields. The additional education makes an obvious difference in both their knowledge and their professional demeanor, which was miles above the usual trapper or exterminator. Trust me, these are the ones you want to call if/when you have an animal in the house.

Orkin has to be one of the worst pest control companies I've ever hired…read more After paying them $97.43 monthly for termite control and $37.89 for pest control over $1,623 in a year I found dead termites scattered throughout my home. I called them for the first time. Their inspector walked around, said I didn't really have a termite problem, never lifted a single bait station off the ground, then quoted me $7,000 extra to treat the attic. If I don't have a problem, why quote seven grand for treatment? And if they did want to treat the attic, why did they refuse to do anything about the termites I found on my floors at ground level? Their guarantee was worthless. Total rip off.

Nothing. The least expensive package they had was $650. So we took it so we could get rid of this mouse. They showed up the next day unannounced and set traps. They said they would return next week to check the traps. No one shows up. The next week after that comes. No one again. I called and they said there was a scheduling issue someone would be out that Thursday. Thursday comes nothing. Call again the next week (week 3) they said there was ANOTHER scheduling issue and someone would be out friday. I told them we wouldn't be home were are going out of town Thursday at 12. They insured me someone would be there first thing Thursday morning. Thursday comes and by 12 no one still had shown up. I call AGAIN and let them know this is the third week no one had shown up and I want a refund. They try and talk me into another service free of charge. I told them no I want my money we are done. The next week ( week 4 ) someone ranom shows up un announced AGAIN to check for traps AFTER I've already canceled and requested a refund. I call the office AGAIN and let them know someone was at my house and she said "no one should be there you aren't even on the schedule". ABSOLUTELY MIND BOGGLING. it has now been a month and we still have no refund. They keep telling us "higher ups have to approve it". My husband called this morning and someone from the national line answered and said our refund was issued may 21st. (The last day I spoke with them and was told it has to be approved by higher ups). Its now June 4th and it still hasn't hit out account and the traps haven't caught anything but dust. Save your time and sanity and use another pest control company because orkin is NOT IT.
