To start, you walk into a cavernous room with an elderly lady sitting at a desk. Nothing else in the room but a few beat up sofas and a candy machine. Now the lady can not actually help you. She knows squat about autobody repair. Her job is to tell you 'Not today but I can make an appointment'. OK you make an appointment. Weird but if that's the way they want to do it. Now come back several days later at the date/time of your 'appointment' and the elderly lady will tell you to go sit on the beat up, taped up sofa. Now time passes, five minutes, ten minutes, fifteen minutes. You still have not seen a single soul about the repair you want done. You are an invisible ghost. The elderly lady mutters something on the phone and a guy comes out and asks her 'Is his car in the parking lot?... gazing out towards employee parking area. At that point I get up and leave. These people have no intention of doing business with you. They want you gone! You are a nuisance. How do they decide? How the customer is dressed? The type of vehicle they drive? Don't waste your time. Go where your business is appreciated. read more

Absolute regret using this dealership. Always compare quotes from service, Liberty added $100 to $200 on even the small parts compared to other local dealerships. The diagnostic and repair is centered around building the problem and milking you more and more, for me it was thousands. I ended up ordering a new truck at their recommendation (stupid). They got my half-fixed truck at a great trade-in (planned) and made a big sale. Which brings me to sales, they missed three options that I asked for and told me dually's weren't available in 2024. They remember this and didn't care. If you've ever been really cheated and it makes you angry when thinking about it, this is what you will get. read more

UPDATE: woof. I have to knock this down. First of all I thought the electric adjustment for my seat being broken last time might have been a fluke. Well now I know it's not. I went to add freon into my AC and behold: they left the release for my hood completely out of place. I mean what? Your job is to repair cars and when you break something you just leave it? Twice. In a row?!? Now I have no power to my seat, need to fix my release, and have lackluster air conditioning in 90 degree weather due to oil changes. Lovely. Additionally, they missed something quite obvious that would have shown up in their "checklist" or whatever had they actually done it. I'm not sure what technician worked on my car the last two times but they will not be doing it again. Honestly if your car breaks down you'd be in luck if you can take it here. I usually drop off my car for regular maintenance. Everything about this location is meticulously thought out that I'd pay more for the convience if I had to. If you don't do an overnight drop off you pull into a garage and go into the office on the left. The waiting room/ lounge has a pretty cool coffee machine that makes lattes and expressos and hot chocolate etc. Free wifi, couches, snacks, tables and chairs, and also a TV. I mean the place freaking has marble counters and an electric fireplace so hop on the wifi and hang out for a bit. read more

What an absolutely frustrating experience. If I had to do it all over again, I would avoid this dealer 100%. I went to Liberty Lincoln Mercury in Vermilion, OH to check out a used Nissan Juke. Prior to the visit, I did my fair share of research to narrow down the type of car I was looking for. After a week of online studying and a few test drives around the Columbus area, where I live, I decided I wanted to get a Nissan Juke. Sadly, there were none in my area so I had to look around the entire state of Ohio and that's when I came across the 2013 Juke S at Liberty Lincoln Mercury in Vermilion. This was my first time buying a car so I wanted to make sure I had all the details set before making a 2 hour drive to Vermilion. My father and I had a few conversations with Tevin, a sales representative, about the preliminary details found online and set up an appointment to check out the car. When we asked about taking a few hundred dollars off the price to get it in our range and for the long drive, he said, "Yeah, I can probably do that for you Mr. Chwalik." This never ended up coming to fruition. Of course, it wasn't written in stone but he should have never even mentioned "probably being able to make it happen" in the first place. This is most likely just a sleazy tactic to get interested buyers into confirming an appointment. There was only one key that went with the car - that was not mentioned anywhere. Most cars normally come with two from what I understand. The worst part was that getting a new key would cost around $200! Another thing that was not mentioned or depicted in any of the images was that the driver side floor mat was missing. All the rest were still in the car, just not that driver side mat. Not a huge issue, I just wish they had told me that from the beginning. That would cost another $100 to get more mats. The worst aspect was something under the hood. This was not listed anywhere online or mentioned by the employee we met with to go over the paperwork prior to checking out the car. There was a plastic covering that protected the engine and it was cracked down the middle. There was an image on their website of all the components under the hood, but they did not show a crack whatsoever. When we asked the sales employee, all he did was say that it wasn't a big deal. The owner did finally agree to deduct $200 to get a new key produced, but that was all he offered. Really, I liked the car and the other issues were something that wouldn't effect the driving (I hope) so I took the offer. Plus, I just wanted to get this terrible interaction over with. Hopefully, I never need to buy another used car. If I do, I'd NEVER go back to Liberty Lincoln Mercury in Vermilion, OH. A few days later, I received a call from someone at the dealership that I had NOT worked with during my encounter. This person was telling me that I needed to pay $250 more because they forgot to include an expense in the original contract. ARE YOU KIDDING? Could this entire experience be any more sketchy? After attempting to understand the situation, the explanation was that there was a "mix up" on the dealership end and they forgot to include a $250 charge for the loan fee. Just to be clear, the dealership messed up the paperwork and was now expecting me to pay an extra $250 after the contract was already signed. After a heated conversation and an unapologetic finance employee telling me the paperwork wouldn't move forward unless the fee was paid, I reluctantly had to shell out $250. There went the $200 deduction to get that extra key replaced. The worst part was that the employee did not apologize for the screw up even though it was their fault! I still can't believe how rude he was. The only nice part was that he did call me back an hour later to apologize for the call and offered me a $25 gas card. Nice gesture, but it didn't make the experience any better. I would NEVER recommend this dealership to anyone. I would stay away at all costs. read more

The car that we purchased was a 2013 Ford Edge with 107,000 miles and within 2 months the ignition coils went out and 2 gas shocks in the trunk. Do not recommend buying cars from their dealership. It's 2,000 to fix all of these issues and we already spent over our budget to buy the vehicle. Highly disappointed in the customer service that we were given. My family has been doing business with Liberty for over 30 years. From my standpoint, I will do everything in my power to sever that relationship with, at the very least, the Vermilion location moving forward after my most recent interaction. Allow me to elaborate: A little over a year ago my wife and I decided to lease an Escape. Everything was great with the sales process and we have been happy with the vehicle except a few months ago we started hearing an odd noise that almost sounded like a plastic bag was attached to the vehicle underside. Upon further examination we discovered that the splash guard was loose in a couple of spots and would flap around when the vehicle was moving at speed. The vehicle was taken down to the service center where we were told that it would be no problem to reattach the splash guard. After the the repair was made the worker in the body shop had a bit of an accident and ran the vehicle along side the post for the lift damaging the entire driver side of the car. Now, although this is rather unprofessional to have happen, I am sure it happens and am not at all upset about that. What I am utterly irate about is the handling of the situation from this point on! Step one we were told to take the vehicle down to the collision center right away and we would be given a loaner while the vehicle was repaired and everything would be taken care of financially. WRONG!!! Upon taking the vehicle down to the collision center, we were told that Liberty would have to file all of the insurance information and we would have to wait for their insurance to approve the body work before they would touch it. YOUR WORKER DAMAGED THE VEHICLE!!! WHY AM I WAITING FOR YOUR INSURANCE TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGE FOR MY CAR TO GET FIXED? To top that off we were told a loaner vehicle wasn't available for 2 to 3 weeks!! Step two: after 3 weeks of emailing the collision center back and forth my wife decided to go down to the dealership and see if she could figure out why she had not been contacted and gotten the ball rolling on the repairs. The salesman who we leased the vehicle from was on vacation. Apparently, that meant the rest of the staff could be disrespectful and treat my wife like an idiot because all she wanted to do was have her car fixed. It is not very enjoyable to drive around in a car that is damaged especially if you had nothing to do with its damage. Rather than, trying to assist her she was given the typical "woman treatment" by several of the salesman and basically dismissed like her business was unnecessary or unwanted. Step Three: Repair/Loaner? Just when you thought that the bumbling of this situation couldn't get any worse, we make our appointment with the collision center when they will have a loaner and the vehicle can be repaired OVER A MONTH after the incident. (Keep in mind there are several parts of the damage that have bare metal showing.) It is my understanding that the accepted loaner for your vehicle in this instance should be the same or better since you are being inconvenienced by the dealerships mistakes. When we show up to drop off our Escape we are brought out to our loaner which is an ECOSPORT? If you are unfamiliar, an Ecosport is essentially a smart car plus a little. I am 6'3 and we have a 9 month old which is why we have an ESCAPE!!! What are we going to do with an ECOSPORT?!!!! At this point, I reached out to our original salesperson who did everything in his power to make the matter better but he was told and relayed to us that the ECOSPORT was the only vehicle they had to loan out. We were told that we would be put on a list for an upgraded vehicle but it would take a few days. HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE SOMETHING SIMILAR AS A LOANER WHEN YOU SET UP THE APPOINTMENT?!!! I fully understand that you may or may not have something for us if we randomly arrived but YOU SET THE APPOINTMENT! YOU KNEW WE WERE COMING! YOU KNEW WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLE YOU WERE REPAIRING!! I guess we will have to wait and see how well this upgrade list works but, based upon the experiences leading up to this, I am reticent to be optimistic. What I will not wait for is to deem Liberty worthy of any more of my or anyone of my family members hard earned money since they don't seem to care whether or not they get it. read more

Unfortunately, as a direct result of Liberty Ford, I will need to appear in court to defend myself. This is egregiously unacceptable. During purchase, I was told by my salesman, the finance officer as well as the sales manager (while we watched my plate being affixed to my car) that my plates and title had been transferred, so I did not make any attempt to register my vehicle upon returning to Michigan, where I live. Imagine my surprise when that nice Michigan policeman told me my plates were registered to nothing, and that I had nothing to prove the vehicle was mine. I had to pull up the credit union loan details (which thankfully included the VIN) on my phone to show him, or he would have towed the car on the spot. He did issue me a citation for improper registration, which was set for an informal hearing in front of a magistrate. I've contacted Liberty Ford, who to date has only offered (albeit begrudgingly) to pay for the ticket. I'm out a significant amount of time (full day off work for the hearing alone) and stress as a result of Liberty Ford's negligence, not to mention possible points on my license, which could raise my insurance rates. The Lincoln I purchased has been nothing but problems from the day I left the lot. I have had to have many repairs done on my vehicle. I was also told that something was fixed, when in fact it never was, and now I am being told I have to pay to have it fixed because it is out of warranty, when it was in warranty when they told me they fixed it. Nick from the service department, on the phone has poor customer service skills. The tone of his voice was so annoyed and rude, I refused to continue the conversation with him. The fact that the car itself has been giant problem after giant problem, is not the issue. The issue is that you have to hassle the service department to get help, and they will only fix what you specifically tell them is wrong. So if you aren't a mechanic don't bother buying a car here. There have been thousands of dollars of parts and multiple times getting repairs. This doesn't count the current issues it is being repaired for. THEN, to get a rental car you have to wait for them to figure out if it is going to be more or less than 45 minutes so don't have a real job because you will have to take time off work to get your car fixed. This car has been the biggest mistake I have ever made in a car choice, and this business has done little to make it right. I'm not saying don't buy Lincoln, I'm saying don't buy a Lincoln from this business. read more

Although I did not buy my latest vehicle from them, I wanted to write and say Jack LaForce is the fellow to look for when you are at Liberty in Vermilion. He did everything anyone could ask when searching for a used vehicle and I actually felt bad that the vehicle he had available was not the equal of the one we bought. His had a better price, to be sure, but the engine and features we were looking for in a truck were more met in the vehicle we did end up buying. Jack did everything he could with what he had to work with, of that there is no doubt! A couple years ago, I was involved in the purchase of a vehicle for a lady friend of mine who was new in town and a bit put off by the car buying experience as a whole. But we did find a nice vehicle at Liberty she purchased with an extended warranty and has been happy since. So I can say that my experience with them was good. Oh, and a couple decades ago I bought my first F-150 from Liberty in Vermilion and that truck ran over 500,000 miles with hardly any maintenance required except for oil changes. When I finally had to have it hauled away, the engine still purred as I drove it onto the trailer to the wrecking yard. For that matter, it may still be running somewhere to this day. I recently went to look at a 2012 Ford Escape SEL. I called in prior to coming to the dealership to make sure the car was still there before I drove over an hour to come look at it. The salesperson I spoke with on the phone said it was still available and if I were to come in to look at it, ask for Charlie and he will help. First off, he sounded completely bored and uninterested to be talking to me in the first place so I was slightly off-out by that before even heading up but decided to go anyways because I was interested in the car. When I got to the dealership, there were about 5 or 6 salespeople just standing around. I asked for Charlie and a salesperson led me to his desk. The man behind the desk did not smile or seem happy to see me at all. He did not shake my hand, ask what my name was, or even introduce himself. The only thing he said was, "I've got the key ready here" and we took the silent march across the parking lot to the very back corner where this Edge was parked. As soon as I walked up to this vehicle, I noticed a lot more wear than what I could see pictured online. There were MULTIPLE scratches on the hood of this SUV, along with half of the Ford emblem torn off. I started to get discouraged as I knew this was not the car I was interested in anymore. I started to inspect it more and realized most of the tread was gone from the tires as well and they would most likely need replaced before this winter (which is in roughly 3 months from now). I decided to take it on a test drive to see how it would do. I really did like the way it drove and when we got back to the dealership I told Charlie my pros and cons of the vehicle and decided it wasn't the one for me. He agreed and we started to look at other vehicles. There was a 2013 Ford Escape on their lot they had just received in and I inquired on the price. Charlie stated he did not know what it was priced at and we could go inside to find out. I reluctantly went inside and sat down at his desk. He came back from speaking with his manager and asked me if they buffed out the scratches and fixed the emblem on the 2012 Edge, would I be interested in it for a $300 price reduction. Wait, what? Now we're talking about the 2012 again? I told him no thanks because I would still have to put $1000 worth of tires on the vehicle and the sale price wasn't where I thought it needed to be. I asked him what the bottom line would be on that vehicle, and he went back to speak with his manager. At this point, the manager comes over to Charlie's desk and sits down. He's OVERLY abrasive, right from the get go. He starts out with, "Let me tell you something" while he pulls out a piece of paper and slams it down on the desk in front of me. I'm immediately on alert because I'm not sure why this man is being so rude to me. He then begins to explain to me what this piece of paper is. Apparently this piece of paper shows that he bought the car for $16,000 and put a couple hundred dollars in so he is doing me a FAVOR by selling it to me less $700 than what he paid. He then goes on to tell me how hard it is to get customers in his doors because he's not located on a main highway. OK, so how is this my fault? Why is he telling me this? What does it have to do with me that you can't get customers in your door and you're buying overpriced cars? Just because you got a crappy deal on the Edge, doesn't mean I'm going to. So anyways, this manager goes through about a 5 minute rant, red in the face, and I politely decline his offer. I didn't even want him over there in the first place. All I wanted to do was find out the price on the 2013 Ford Edge (which never happened by the way). So after I decline his offer, he stands up, SLAMS the paper in the trash and says "You have a good night" and leaves. Doesn't thank us or anything for our time. R-U-D-E. Needless to say, we left without a car. And needless to say, I will NEVER EVER be returning to this store. Car buying should be fun and owners of companies need to be more careful on who they hire, because of this staff, I will NEVER go back! read more

I financed a used vehicle from here about a month ago. the vehicle was a 2008 Audi S5 4.2L V8 6 Speed manual. I drove about 1.5 hours to purchase this vehicle. The sales man Patrick that helped me was wonderful and very kind and helpful he did everything he could to make the experience great. I got to test drive the vehicle before purchasing it and engine light came on and they said it was just misfires, there was random misfires codes for 4 cylinders and purchasing the vehicle as is I was weary so I tried to negotiate on the price because its an Audi and they're not cheap to fix incase I had to fix anything, but management wouldn't budge on the price. I got the codes cleared after purchasing the vehicle they never came back on. I've been driving manual for about 8 years and something I've never experienced before started happening where when I engaged the clutch to start the car sometimes it would start and sometimes it wouldn't. I had only had the car for a week when this started happening i had only put about 600 miles on it. The car wasn't reading that I was depressing the clutch. I took the vehicle to the Audi dealership to get checked out and there was a technical service bulletin posted for this vehicle which is a common problem that occurs over time from wearing of the clutch switch on the throw out bearing inside the transmission which the dealership I purchased it from should have diagnosed and had checked before selling me the car, although I had purchased the vehicle as is it hadn't even been 30 days since owning the vehicle so I thought I would contact the dealership to possibly see if they would go 50/50 on the repair cost, which most dealerships I've been to don't mind doing to keep the customer satisfied. Especially since it was in the first 7 days of owning it. I wasn't very happy with the whole situation and experience from this dealership. I just hope no one else gets screwed buying a used vehicle from here and ends up with a car that said to be in good contain mechanically but is not. read more

This review is for a car I recently purchased about 3 months ago (I am a little cautious to immediately write a review as I always want to see how it does for a few months.) My experience at Liberty Ford was an excellent one. I am from Columbus and had been looking for a car for a long time. I had a terrible experience with a car dealership who's tagline is "We're Dealing!" and that they try to do, after speaking with 7 different sales people and driving a car that broke down during the test drive I walked out. A few weeks later I found myself at Liberty Ford, and what a difference. Custer service from Rick was great, he is a friendly guy and all stereotypical car dealer notions went out the window. If you are looking for someone who is going to get you want you are looking for in a non-pressure atmosphere then you should go. I would recommend staying away from the body shop. I mistakenly thought I should take my Fusion here for repairs after having someone back into my car. I was told my car would be returned in five days. After next to no communication, when I finally was told my vehicle was ready to be picked up on day 17, I get there to find a sizable chip in the "repaired" section of my car as well as dirt or debris in a large section of what was repainted. It was visibly bumpy. Not to mention the whole car was dusty. After expressing to the manager my displeasure, I requested an upgrade in replacement vehicles since I would again have to leave my car for days as my own car has luxury features and the one I was given to drive as a replacement does not. The manager assured me I would receive a phone call from Liberty today regarding getting another vehicle to me. Surprise, surprise, I didn't hear a word and no one returned my call. Well, tomorrow is day 18. Hopefully I will see my car within the month. read more
