Shiloh is filled with a believing body of Christians. It is by no means a perfect church, but it is a great house of worship, a house of worship built on the fundamentals of the teaching of God's Word. I'm updating this review because in my last review the church was without a Pastor, but today Shiloh officially has been blessed with a new Pastor to continue the work of the Lord & to lead the people & visitors of Shiloh; today we welcome, pray for & pray with Pastor Hodari Hamilton for continued success @ Shiloh. I absolutely love this church for their commitment in all that they do. Looking for a fulfilling worship service? Try Shiloh Baptist Church on Sunday for their 9:00 AM worship service. 1st Sunday is a little longer due to Baptism & Communion, but you will be blessed.

Located @ 149 Springfield Ave, Newark, NJ 07103 Rev. Dr…read more David Jefferson Sr. was the Officiant over The home going service of my brother Isaiah Poyner On August 8, 2023. The Poyner family was very disappointed by the treatment we received from Rev. Jefferson Sr. He missed pronounced my brother's name, called him to come up to the speaker and he's in the casket. He was very rude to Pastor Fields who read the Poem Called a Message from Isaiah. After reading the Poem she began to speak on her relationship with the deceased who she has known for most of her life. He interrupted Pastor Fields while she was still speaking by saying Amen you are finished. He criticized the solo artist that sang my brother's favorite song by saying she should have picked a better song, because she seem to be struggling with the song, and if he was singing he wouldn't have picked that song. RUDE!!!!! The service turned into the Rev. Jefferson show. He never said ANY comforting words about Isaiah during the service, except when he pronounced his name incorrectly. The most unpleasant event happened when he went into the bathroom with his mic still on and the whole congregation heard him urinating and flushing the toilet. The lack of sympathy and compassion shown to the widow, Mrs Poyner was unacceptable and he definitely owes her and apology. $1,750.00 for and unacceptable Home Going Service felt like highway robbery. He never read the Eulogy or the Obituary. The service was rushed through and things were omitted, which left and unpleasant taste in many of the congregants mouth. Everyone exited the church in dismay about the way the service was conducted. Rev.Jefferson owes Mrs. Poyner an apology and a refund. I will be informing everyone that I know, friends and family NOT to attend this church, because it's run like a business for profit and not a church in which you serve God. Metropolitan Baptist Church is a church I wouldn't recommend to anyone searching to find the word of God.Stay away!!!!!

This is also a pretty equally aged church for New York City. The largest demographic are the 25-40 crowd and there are a decent number of children at church every week. No demographic is really missing. The best part about the people at this church is that they are a community that really looks out for one another; they are fun and inviting. Meets on Sunday evenings at 5p. Childcare is available.

What about "GET OUT OF DEBT?" I have. This place is amazing. The pastor is hilarious, the service mixes traditional and contemporary (hymns & modern music, choir & praise team), preaching about current events, how they relate to the bible and the stories in the bible and how to apply those principles (and God's word) to your life so that you can live a happy, loving, faithful, life. The congregation is comprised of people that are really showing you their love of God through how they live their lives and interact with people. I did not live close to this church but I attended because it was worth the drive.

This is the place I decided to give my life to God and accept him as my savior. The Pastors, Anthony and Patricia Ventola are warm, humble people that accept you as you are. They are very involved in the church and like to know their patrons one on one. They are always available if you need to vent, need prayer or need general advice. I will admit , this is a bit of an old fashioned church. They don't particularly tackle the issues of today's younger generation (love, sex, dating in the age of yelp, money etc) however, they are very understanding of their demographic and try to cater to all. It is mostly an older crowd but all nationalities come to this church. They have a lot of different activities that are within the church such as Men of Vision ( a men's bible study group), Heart to Heart (a women's bible study group) , Sold Out Youth ( a youth group), dinners and events. Another plus is that they have a children's section with trustworthy babysitters from the church that take care of the toddlers while the main service is going on. Overall, it has been my spiritual home for a while and I suggest everyone visit!
