For $40, plus a fee for using my debit card, there was a lot left to be desired. To start, there was a wait when I got there. I was told my receptionist to have a seat. The owner/manager was sitting in a chair with all types of hair clips and took about 10 mins to tell me it'll just be a minute. I did have an appointment! Then I got truly the worst hair wash of my life. Tried to explain to the girl that my hair gets knotty easily. Just said no speak English. She ROUGHLY, and I mean ROUGHLY washed my hair. Some strands were pulled out! My hair became one big knotted mess. Then I had to awkwardly lift my head for a solid 15 mins for her to try and use a comb. It was terrible, I truly have less hair than when I walked in. The blow dry was alright. She did not put a single product in it. I asked for curls which was an extra fee. She also did not even try to speak to me. She just spoke w the owner and other hair dressers as well. When it was time to pay I was not told there would be a credit card fee! I also asked for change for a 10 but they had no singles. Very convenient. Overall I've had a better blow out in the Rockland/Bergen area. Even at super cuts!

When I saw a groupon available a couple of years ago, I decided to try again with a different stylist. I scheduled with Joanne and I couldn't be happier. She is one of the only stylists I've ever been to that leaves me with the look I came in wanting. She's wonderfully kind and personable as well, so I always feel comfortable coming in to see her. I've recommended her to at least a dozen people who can't find a hair stylist who will listen to them and the ones who took my advice are all hooked! I must say that the environment there is very relaxed. The staff is like family, and I know that some clients consider that unprofessional. The casual atmosphere doesn't bother me at all as long as I feel I am a priority to them as a client. They also serve coffee and bagels in the mornings which can help pass the time while being colored or drying. I cannot recommend Joanne enough!

In fact, she was being rude and impatient while repeatedly telling she was helping me. Talking over me and calling me rude is not helping me. She was mad simply because I was asking questions about the new person she was scheduling me to see. As a potential new client she should be kind and patient. Left a bad taste in my mouth and does not make me want to keep my appointment. I'm a physician and know how to interact with the general public. I handle rude patients on a daily basis with grace and kindness. I was definitely not being rude. She needs to be trained. Let's hope the stylist is nicer than the front desk employee

They also make suggestions. The students take their time with you. The coaches are always available to assist the students. Hence, I never fear they will make a horrendous mistake. I've never been disappointed. The prices are really good. They charge half what other colorists charge and use a top-of-the-line color to bat. Expect to spend two hours there for a single process color. It's well worth the time....which is spent relaxing in a fun environment. If you go, you will probably return.

The stylist didn't understand English so she asked a customer to translate. At the shampoo chair she proceeded to wash my hair and after having me sit up she began to vigorously rub in what I thought was a pre conditioner into my hair. I became suspicious when I caught sight of a nearby customers expression and reached up to touch the drip and was horrified to see that it was dye! I got up and walked over to the owner, Mayra, who was at the first chair applying dye to a customer's hair. I asked her why the stylist was rubbing dye into my hair as you would shampoo or conditioner. Mayra informed me that all her stylist had different ways of doing things and assured me that my hair would turn out right without damage. To shorten this review let me say what any experienced salon customer already knows, Mayra had to reapply the dye to my hair! She offered me no apology for allowing her inexperienced shampoo girl Jessie to scrub dye into my hair, No apology for the 3+ hours I was sitting in her salon and she still charged me $60! This morning I see that my hair is shedding already. It saddens me but I believe this never would have happened if I was a Spanish speaking person.

I called a day prior saying I wanted a haircut and a wash and blow. I informed her that I wanted to know the cost up front because my hair is really thick. She said that we will talk about it when I come in, on my appointment I said I will be getting a haircut, collarbone length and wash and blow, I again asked how much do you think it will be. She dismissed me and told me to go to the wash area. Two stylists were present; one was washing a client's hair, the other one opened and gestured for me to have a seat. When I informed them that I was cutting it short, they jokingly said that I shouldn't in spanglish. It was then time to style my hair, a wide tooth comb was used to blowout my hair.. Just to check on things, my mother came in then later left. While my hair was getting blown out and Nani asked if I was my mother, I replied with yes. She was visibly annoyed and stated that I should have told her before the stylist went to all this trouble with my hair. I informed her that this had been mentioned to her twice and the women in the wash area. Anyways, I apologize and I understood that I could have made sure the stylist truly understood. Then, Nani asked for my phone. I thought she was asking to see if the reference photo for my haircut said no, the camera. She took a picture of the length of my hair and I was confused. I asked for layers and they said no because my hair is too thick. By now, I was really irritated and wanted to leave. NOW TIME TO PAY! This greedy lady made prices on the spot. She wrote down that I owed $250 because of how much hair I have. I knew that I was going to pay more money than the average but $250 is CRAZYYYY, let alone $150-200. She attempted to charge me $20 for a complimentary deep conditioner! AND charged me an additional $10 for wash and blow, which I discovered later. I then questioned her about the $150. She explained that it was because my hair was so thick and unmanageable. This pricing is absurd, I informed her. She claimed that they applied a cream or chemical of some kind. (I genuinely don't know, and I believe she lied because, as far as I know, she just applied Silicon Mix which is common in Dominican salon.) to make my hair more manageable for them. I said, you never told me NOR asked me to put that on my hair. Again she kept on justifying the price because of how much hair I have. I had to pay $200. Never in my life have I ever spent this much on a wash + set let alone a wash + blow! She called me on the way home and asked me to send her the picture because she wanted a before and after shot from various perspectives. Girl BYEEEE When returning home, I noticed that it was choppy and uneven. My mother was upset about the amount I had to spend and called to complain about my uneven haircut and price. She said, "My hair was thick and so unmanageable." And to my own mother, you have no idea how much labor goes into her hair because you're not a hairstylist. She then claimed that I was aware of the price, which was untrue because I hardly heard her bc a blow dryer was near my ear. I assumed she said was my mother, so there was obviously a misunderstanding. My mom asked for a partial refund and she dismissed it and said she's busy and had a customer, but I can come back again so she could fix it. Why would I want to drive hours to be treated like this again? Overall, this Nani has NO integrity AND A THIEF. Don't come here!!!
