I am very happy with my experience at the salon today. The extra special touches while having my hair washed, with the warm towel conditioning treatment and hand massage were quite lovely. My haircut and blow-out were done exceptionally well by Jason (the owner). This, for sure, will be my new salon for haircuts! It's on the more expensive side for Rockland but in this case, you definitely get what you pay for! You wear your hair everyday so this is one area I do not believe in looking for a "discount" ;) read more

Went here for the first time for a haircut to actually correct a prior one. Luis did a really great job turning what was blunt and shaped it into something beautifully layered and framed my face quite well. I also always hate how my hair gets blown out but he did such a great job my hair was soooo shiny after. Definitely plan on going back. Great experience read more

Went for a hair cut and style with Emma today. I had ideas wasn't really sure what I wanted but she talked to me, showed me how things might look, and we decided on a cut. The transformation was amazing!! She did such a excellent cut! I am so happy with the results. Then she showed me how to style my hair and gave me some tips to keep my hair soft. Went to this salon for the first time. My impression was wow! The minimalist decor, all white, clean lines, really sets the tone for a relaxing and soothing environment. The hairdresser Valeria knew exactly what I needed and I couldn't be happier. I got a color glaze with a blow dry and she was spot on choosing the correct color for me. I asked for a "lob" long bob a little past my shoulders, hitting my shoulders in the back. Came out with a circa 90s Posh Spice disasthair. So bad I barely complained but the look on my face said it all and they comped my cut without me even asking. It's just hair, it grows but if you bring several pictures of what you want and it is ignored its worth yelping. Pictures are worth a thousand words see for yourself. Avoid this place. read more

Well went in with red hair that needed highlights and fresh color...cane out with blonde highlights on brown hair!! Red hair gone. I've never had an issue with Louis before today. I'm a redhead and he knows that. Let he walk out with no red and ugly brown hair! All for my pleasure of $345! Wasn't told that I would pay this crazy price and look horrible for it. Shame on Louis for letting me leave without my red hair. May he didnt understand when I said darker red...but brown hair for a redhead looks disgusting. This review is a little delayed, but I was really back and forth about doing it and finally decided to post it. I came to this salon last summer to get a balayage that I paid around $300+ for. I made an initial appointment for a consultation, told her exactly what I wanted and we discussed what was to be expected etc. I booked my appointment to get the the balayage done. I think it all started from the bleaching process, I don't think the stylist ( I will leave her unnamed) who did the balayage was trained enough in the technique, my hair ended up coming out looking a hot mess. Instead of a balayage my hair looked like someone dipped half my head into a tub of bleach. There was a straight line across the back of my head that was brown (not even the color I was aiming for). I have never spent so much time and money on something that was so disappointing. After leaving I spent the next week trying to style it different ways with no luck. All my friends and family members couldn't even be fake about it, they flat out told me I needed to get my hair fixed!! Can you imagine spending so much time and money on your hair for people to tell you it didn't look good?!? To say it was upsetting is an understatement. In the next couple of days, I called the salon to complain and they told me to come back the following week to get it redone. The second time around my hair came out looking a little bit better, after more mistakes in the chair (the shampoo girl accidentally removed my foils before It was time). This was my first experience in getting my hair bleached, and I wasn't aware of all the consequences of bleaching hair back to back could be, something the salon should have vocalized. Nevertheless, I ended up cutting the bleached part of my hair two months later because my hair started to fall out at an alarming rate from extreme damage. I understand hair color is very tricky and is hard to do and achieve, but my whole experience not only left me traumatized but it also completely DESTROYED my hair. I've never been more upset and disappointed. This salon is extremely pricey, they overcharge for everything and sneak items into your bill. The price and quality are just not worth it! Do your research before making the same mistakes I did and blindly trusting their stylists. read more

This is a review after my third visit! My first time (October) here I came and met with Arta for a consultation. I needed a color correction. I told her what I was looking for and she knew exactly what to do. The following day I had the process done and i loved the results. Arta recommended I use the olaplex as well as a purple shampoo. I came back recently to have my roots touched up, toner and blow out! Blond is very hard to keep up. And since I have really dark hair- my color tends to change pretty quickly. I feel very comfortable and trust her with my hair, which is hard to find these days. I would definitely recommend Arta and this salon. They have two locations for convenience and have good hours. I plan to continue to do my hair at this salon! I love their attention, their chic look and Arta is super friendly! Ill post other pictures of my second look which I also love! read more

Just two stars because Jason didn't give me the cut I asked for. I brought a picture to give him an idea of the shape I was looking for, but he gave me a different cut and made fun of the picture. I also asked him to make my hair straight, but he curved it under, then said he wasn't a stylist and that he just does cuts and colors (say what?!), as if styling was beneath him, so I straightened it myself. As stated in other posts, I too noticed Jason calling out employees in front of the customers. It was probably embarrassing for the employee and comes off as unprofessional to the customer. I like how he cut the top of my hair, but am unhappy with the overall cut/experience, so I won't be back. read more

First time visit yesterday with a same-day appointment for a wash & blow dry, and I will definitely return to this salon. Alex (she) recommended a great detox for my hair to help with an oily scalp and dry split ends. The process was inexpensive and made me feel brand new. The staff was sweet and efficient; the salon clean and fabulously modern. I will return for a haircut and ombré next time! Thank you thank you! I was extremely disappointed here. I found an ad on FB looking for a model for a cut and blowout for free. I went and she didn't cut but did a wash and good blowout. I was upset but nonetheless gave a nice tip. She said my hair was too short. I called the salon and he said she was not allowed to cut yet at all and it isn't any of their concern and they cannot get involved. She has nothing to do with them and isn't yet qualified for cuts. Seriously, she used your place and équipement! What audacity on both ends. I feel I was wrong to tip so much especially as I didn't get what I expected . read more

The staff is incredibly friendly, educated and accommodating. I went in there to get a coloring done and the staff continued working on my hair until I was happy with it. The staff clearly has knowledge of what a good cut and color is and makes it a priority to please you. JLK is clean, organized and the staff is awesome. I love this salon! I have long, thick bleached balayage hair and my hair stylist handled it very well. She made sure I was happy with the length of my hair after the cut, making sure not to take too much off. I know if a hair stylist is good if she is able to properly blow out my hair. I had gotten a permanent Japanese Straightening done last year in May and so the bottom half of my hair is now pin straight leaving the roots and top hair frizzy/curly/wavy. She was able to curl my hair with a blow dryer at the end of the hair leaving a bouncy blow out. My hair is in long layers, framing my face and I love it. I will definitely return here. read more

I absolutely love this salon and the ladies who work there! Everyone is so nice and helpful. I used the salon a few weeks ago to do my hair along with my bridesmaids, mother and aunt's updo for my wedding. They did such a great job! I was so impressed with everyone's hair. Artsa did my updo and it was really really amazing!! I highly recommend this salon especially for a bridal party. They made it such a nice experience, even bought up champagne and orange juice! Love JLK salon. Such a chic, clean vibe to it. Moved back to Nanuet a year ago, and haven't been back to my stylist in the city since. Goddess is the best and always gives me the perfect color and treatment. I joke that I feel like a queen every time I go because I'm usually in a rush and end up having 2-3 stylists finishing my hair when I'm there! The manicures are also awesome as they have a huge variety of colors and glitter!! Highly recommend this place! read more

For Rockland, this salon is pricey but in this instance it was worth it. Laura was great and just understood what I was looking for. Before I made an appointment I read reviews but couldn't find prices anywhere for their services --- I found out why after the fact. If you are looking for a change, good stylist and up to current trends then this place is where to go. I would absolutely recommend Laura. I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the price. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's $65 blanket price women's cut. I was happy to pay the price for my first cut but I wouldn't go back for a trim. It may be a good idea to look at a sliding scale of some sort - short vs long, trim, stylist, etc. Having said this, I really love my cut and would go again- albeit wait a while for a proper cut again! read more

this is the first time I've ever let anybody cut my hair, outside of my comfort zone. I have to say I am beyond satisfied with the way my hair turned out. my hair stylist Sheena did an amazing job with my hair cut/blow out. my hair was so long and thick, and as much as it kills me to see 3 years of hard work and maintaining it disappear within a few minutes, I am so glad it's gone. she cut it enough where it still looked long, but still made a drastic change. immediately I put my new hair on Instagram and everyone loves it!
