They are a small company but have been growing very quickly over the last several years. I know this because I first contacted them about some landscaping concepts three years ago. At the time I think the company was scarcely more than a father and son operation. I didn't follow through with that effort but recently called upon them for another different job. They have grown significantly, I am sure from word-of-mouth, and now have multiple logo-wrapped trucks. I've been gut-renovating, almost exclusively DIY, a 100+ year old house. The front porch was brick stairs but they were in bad shape and had uncomfortable tread and riser dimensions. The young man Abraham from Rosete Hardscapes had some excellent ideas about how to retain the existing base but enhance the design with additional concrete, brick, and limestone. As I said, I use very few contractors, preferring DIY, but this was a project I knew was beyond me. They did an absolutely fantastic job. Very skilled craftsman. They definitely don't work for free but the value is 100% there. I am very glad I went with these guys, they are top of the line.

To give you an idea of the situation: imagine budgeting $16k for a project. You meet with them, they walk the site, review the plans, and enthusiastically agree to the price to "earn your business." However, two weeks after signing the contract and handing over a deposit, they suddenly claimed the project would now cost $29K. My key Issues: Bait-and-Switch Pricing: The final quote was more than double the original agreed-upon price with vague and VERY inconsistent reasoning. Vanishing Deposit: When I chose to cancel due to the massive price hike, they claimed my entire deposit had already been "used up" on excavation. Lack of Integrity: They committed to a budget just to get the signature, only to move the goalposts immediately after. We are currently pursuing legal action to address these practices. This company is simply not worth the stress or the financial risk. I met many reputable masonry and concrete companies during my bidding phase--I strongly suggest you look elsewhere, you've been warned.

He began work May 4 and every time he came he left a bigger mess. There is concrete splatter on the brick, the painted garage, the trap door and back porch and door. It's a dark ugly gray that I have not been able to scrub off. The patio is left with trowel marks and is "painted" a dingy battleship primer type cover. You can see the concrete through it. The garage area looks worse than before. I paid a lot of money and am much worse off now. I am elderly and trusting, so when he said he was finished in early May I believed him. Big mistake. I now have to hire someone to paint over this mess (except the brick, I'm stuck with the splatter on it). I regret ever meeting this unethical, inept, incompetent, man. Warning: Do Not Hire JG Concrete and Construction…read more I'm writing this to warn others about a terrible experience we had with **JG Concrete and Construction**, owned by a man named **Jose** -- who also goes by **Pedro** allegedly, possibly using a second identity. We later discovered he is **not properly licensed**, despite claiming to hold a Class A license. A search on **DPOR** (Virginia's license verification system) confirmed he is **not registered**, and the license may belong to someone else. We hired him to install a **12x20 concrete slab with steps**, a fairly simple job -- but what we got was a complete disaster: * The **slab was uneven** and **began cracking within a day** * **Water was pooling toward our home's foundation**, creating serious drainage issues * The **stamped concrete pattern was incomplete**, with missing lines and poorly formed joints * The **expansion joint** was uneven and improperly done * The slab was covered in an excessive amount of **orange powder**, which stained our yard and was tracked inside by our dog * He **left behind nails, screws, rocks, and deep tire marks** all over our yard * He **never returned to clean, pressure wash, or seal** the concrete * the stairs are uneven and slant to the left and the pitch is to far forward causing a tripping hazard. My pregnant wife and I where trying to scrub all the orange powered off everything. When we contacted him with our concerns, it took **over a week** to get a response. We even had another contractor inspect the work -- and they confirmed it was **so poorly done it would need to be completely demoed and redone**. Despite this, **Jose insisted everything was "perfect."** Jose even had the audacity to say he would remove it for $600. When it was his shabby work! Luckily, we only lost about **$800**, but the damage, stress, and cleanup were overwhelming. Final Warning: Do not trust JG Concrete and Construction. Look elsewhere if you need any concrete work done.
