This predominately African American company performs ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, point, modern and other dance techniques. Based out of East Point, the dance studio offers classes to children, teens and adults. Summer dance camp is also available. Throughout the year the company performs at theaters around Atlanta. I actually attended one of their shows at Georgia Tech and it was well put together. Just recently they presented the Urban Nutcracker. I really think someone with a business/marketing mindset could get this studio to where it needs to be. The quality of teaching is second to none. A few teachers do need to remember that some of the dancers are truly kids doing their best but overall it is a solid place for a dance skills foundation. Original Post on 2/22/16: The concept is wonderful however the communication is horrible. As a new family to the company (my previous company Lee Harper closed), I never truly know what is going on. They should really invest in a newsletter so that people will know. I did not know at all that they had a Nutcracker production and actually went to another company's production of it. They never send notices of upcoming productions home. Randomly and inconsistently we receive half thought out emails. With the amount that the company cost, one would think that simply sending communication home would not be a problem. Also parents are not guaranteed a ticket at the performance. Their production of the Harlem Renaissance was sold out and several parents were closed out of the performance. Why not simply send one ticket home for each child? Additional ones can always be purchased. They only have class on Saturday mornings for elementary aged kids. This doesn't work for everyone. Also, parking is nonexistent . There is a lot for about 4 cars! Three stars because the potential is there for a strong business. They have the talent just not the business expertise to keep clients.

Sabrina was our instructor and we had a great time. There was a TON of laughter and fun. We were able to choose from three different designs, so she alternated the instruction for each design, which gave everyone time to focus on each segment of their piece. We were a mixed group of various ages and abilities, but everyone had a blast. Highly recommended- no matter where you are! Ask about their virtual parties and fundraisers!

The owner & choreographer Miss India has done AMAZING with my daughter growth. My daughter started off as a Broadway Baby and now she has earned her position on Broadway Competition Team Season 9. As a Broadway Baby Miss India & Miss Dee worked with these young ladies and cared for them as their own. I love the sisterhood that has been formed with all the ladies ranging from 4-18. Miss India believes in hard work, respect, sister hood & good grades. One of the quote my daughter says a lot is " if you miss up you just keep going" my daughter use this quote on a daily. I can see a big change in her confidence and she ALWAYS EXCITED to go to class. This is our 3rd studio and I'm impressed and we are Broadway Parents for life! To add also the communication from MsIndia is AMAZING. The monthly schedule comes out two months at a time and if anything changes which is rare she communicates that as well via email, parents group chat, Broadway App and/or text msg.

So I love Groupon and I'm always looking for things that my sisters and I can enjoy here in Atlanta. I came across a deal for the Brush Up and Wine Down. Very reasonable for 2 people and a few hours of fun! We arrived and we're greeted by all the ladies eagerly waiting to paint. It was set up outside and it was a very nice day which was perfect. They had music and Wine to enjoy. All the art supplies were provided. Great Hostess. You are given a plain canvas that has a stencil that has the item you are going paint outlined. Now it's time to paint. At the end we take pictures and get to take our masterpieces home. Lol. We all took our time mixing and matching colors, laughing, talking, and sipping wine. All in all - Very fun for a girls day. I will definitely do this again.

From experience, we knew a few things that we wanted and didn't want: we wanted professional instructors and not just nice teachers with degrees. We also wanted quality programs instead of the "everyone is a star" kinds of stuff. Truthfully, we wanted our daughter to be pushed and to strive for success (even while experiencing occasional defeat) rather than to be rewarded unrealistically; this better prepares her for the real world. Of course when she was little, we wanted her to have fun and be happy. As she's gotten older we believe that if it's worth doing - it's worth her best efforts. For us, Georgia Academy of Dance (GAD) was the perfect blend of professionalism and youth instruction. We are so happy that we found them - they bring out the best in our daughter. When we looked online at the biography of the director and teachers we knew that this academy was the real thing, but we have since discovered the wonderful GAD community and its leadership which is both kindhearted and approachable. At every age, every level, kids are affirmed and challenged. Our high school daughter is growing and developing beautifully - GAD has been instrumental in her success. GAD will bring out the best in your child in more ways than just excellent dancing.

If you're into a heterogenous singular raced studio, this is for you. It is very much a business--no one will know your kid's name, but he/she will learn. The costumes are overpriced, and the owner is completely unprofessional. She is rude and lacks awareness; any questions are immediately met with "find another studio." There are many others with better instruction, so go to those. **update** Following my google review I received an email reprimand for my daughter missing the dress rehearsal from Kym. There were about four other people copied on the email. It was essentially a dressing down, explaining that I had opened the email with the schedule and that they allowed my daughter to dance in the nutcracker as a courtesy. It is strange that I would receive this so long after the rehearsal, but the simplest explanation is that they were offended by my review. Completely affronted by the email I responded explaining that I was confused by the rehearsal schedule email and that my daughter would be at a different studio in the fall. I reiterated my dissatisfaction with the lack of diversity. Sherri responded by removing my daughter from the class and calling me prejudice(sp). She stated that I would be hearing from her lawyer, presumably because she didn't like my Facebook review. One of her henchwomen asked how I came to this conclusion as a teacher. Of course this is a) creepy, and b) irrelevant, but if she must know--and I know she's reading this, so she must know--try Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation here is that you lack diversity because you don't desire it. Diversity of thought, diversity of ethnicity, etc. It is not illegal for me to state this. Indeed, you must prove that it is *not* true. My intentions are not malicious, as that is not the purpose for Facebook or Google reviews. As this meets no legal precedent, I hope you aren't paying him hourly, but I digress. Armed with a legal background I am prepared to meet the studio wherever they wish. It is a shame that, rather than address concerns, they removed my child and proceeded to bully me. Based on the fact that I cannot comment on my own review (they have claimed that they gave me their lawyer's information), I believe that what has happened is an issue of ego. Sherri removed my daughter from the studio last year because I questioned her carte blanche ability to charge a card for a costume fee. She swoops in when she doesn't like a comment or concern, as though she is the only ditty in town. She was very rude in her response, but by daughter enjoyed the teacher so we stayed. Ultimately, Sherri and her company do not want to look in the mirror. Their studio lacks diversity. Their studio lacks warmth. Overall they lack professionalism. As a parent I should have moved my child earlier. But I have enrolled her in another studio at the recommendation of a friend, so all's well that ends well.

I…read moreneeded a safe and fun place for her to be one summer and after speaking with Ms. Tayo over the phone she answered all of my questions as a mom and a social worker. I had many questions and she was understanding. We went from attending summer's only to my daughter becoming a member of the Perfoming Company. I trusted Ms. Tayo and her staff with the development and growth of my daughter as a dancer and a confident young lady. Ms. Tayo had always been approachable and has a big heart for the kids. She's very passionate about the arts and she will push your child to be their best. Over the years I have seen the staff change and maybe even some procedures. But the commitment to helping children be their best has remained a constant priority at Tayo Reed's PAC.

In terms of dance, her technique in modern, ballet, lyrical, and contemporary (her favorite genres) have drastically improved throughout the years. She was invited to attend a well-known performing arts high school in Atlanta and has continued her studies with Ms. Tayo while completing her first college degree. Ms. Tayo also helped my daughter boost her confidence level in terms of performing as well as in her personal and academic endeavors. Ms. Tayo has always made myself and my daughter feel like family, so much so that as a college student she and some of Ms. Tayo's former students who are now adults continue to frequent the school to assist Ms. Tayo with the younger students. The friendships she gained while participating in Ms. Tayo's program are unbreakable and it is a joy to see the students maintaining their relationship in their blossoming adult lives. My daughter has traveled with Ms. Tayo in dance competitions and a variety of other shows and had the pleasure of earning her first paycheck as a dancer when she assisted Ms. Tayo and her very talented band. It is unfortunate that the parent in a prior review had such a negative experience with Ms. Tayo's program. She works very hard to offer students on the southside of Atlanta opportunities to strengthen their performing arts skills that would otherwise not be afforded to them. She also works very hard to ensure that low to middle-income families are able to obtain good quality afterschool childcare and exposure to the performing arts at an EXTREMELY reasonable price. Left without words. Speechless before splendor. The East Point Villagers have the correct…read morereaction: repeated genuflection. Honestly, the five stars are for more than the Possums' performance. Given the annual fundraiser's execution, their organizational skills are unmatched. Their inspirational skills netted a substantial sum for two worthy causes. Their staging skills provided action and respite in good measure. And they're damned good performers. Some of their songs had already been used this night (and many others at clubs), but their enthusiasm and choreography had the audience on their feet in dance. Tonight's event, the annual East Point Possums show, drew a wonderfully wide and diverse audience. It's difficult to explain how happy that made us. There were little kids. There were things many would declare "unfit" for little kids. No one was declaring anything unfit. Wonderful. There were different races, creeds, ages, religious backgrounds... If you can draw that many different groups to one event and leave them all thrilled, you deserve far more than just a good review on a web site. And tonight the Possums provided far more to other groups. "Largest drag show in the Southeast" is measured by heart beyond size.
