$90/day for each bike. We were able to go around the island , eat, beach, nap , ride again and then returned them by 5pm . 100% recommend

SCAM! Cannot ride the bikes to see the island - only on the 1 mile of paved road - totally useless

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Catalina E-Bike Company this past weekend…read morewas so upsetting that I feel others should know. My husband and I chartered a private boat to Catalina Island to celebrate his birthday. We were excited to make the most of the day, and renting e-bikes was something we had been looking forward to after already renting a golf cart. When we arrived, we watched Kathy assist the Hispanic couple in front of us and the white couple behind us. When it was our turn, however, she told us that e-bike rentals were "reservation only." I explained that we were all together as one group and that neither of the other couples had reservations. Instead of acknowledging that, she said, "Well, you can just rent the golf carts." I told her we had already rented a golf cart earlier that day, and she responded, "Well, you've seen everything. No need to rent an e-bike." I was stunned. Not only did her explanation make no sense, but after watching her rent e-bikes to others without reservations, it was impossible not to notice the difference in how we were treated. Based on our experience, I left feeling that we were denied service because we are African American. I also couldn't shake the feeling that my husband's appearance--he is a larger man--may have influenced the way we were treated. I felt embarrassed, humiliated, and angry. What should have been a fun birthday celebration turned into an experience that left us feeling unwelcome and singled out. When I asked to speak with the manager, Kathy simply replied, "I am the manager," leaving us with no way to address our concerns. Whether intentional or not, the way we were treated was unacceptable. Every customer deserves to be treated fairly and with respect. I cannot recommend Catalina E-Bike Company based on our experience. If you're visiting Catalina Island and want to support businesses that make all customers, feel welcome, I would encourage you to look elsewhere.

From the moment we started, he was funny, warm, and incredibly engaging, while also being super knowledgeable and educational about the island and wildlife. What really stood out was how perfectly Andrew balanced the experience -- he knew exactly when to share great stories and facts, and when to let us simply soak in the sights, sounds, and beauty around us. He never rushed us and made sure we had plenty of opportunities for amazing photos and genuine wildlife sightings. We truly felt like we were seeing the island at its best. The tour felt safe, well-supported, and action-packed, without ever feeling overwhelming. You could tell Andrew genuinely cared about everyone having a great time and walking away with memorable moments. We also saw a fox and bison! Highly, highly recommend this tour -- and if you're lucky enough to get Andrew as your guide, you're in for a treat. Side note: when guides and drivers go above and beyond like this, please remember to tip. Andrew, if you ever read this -- thank you for such a fantastic experience. On a one day visit to Catalina Island, there is so much to do, see and eat…read more To start, rent a golf cart or wear good walking shoes because this port is not too big for tourist exploration. There is also a "Circuit" ride share that will take you around the island for $2 per person. Coming in by tender from a cruise ship is great. The docking area is in town and so close to everything. I exited the tender and walked along the waterfront where I passed a few children's playgrounds with a pirate theme. Then on to where the golf carts are rented. I walked to the pier (Green Pier) where there are bathrooms and many small shops all hoping for the tourist business. They carry the typical port souvenirs. After a long walk on this short pier I got to the end where there is many people fishing with poles and the little set ups they will sell you for a few dollars and the bait too. There are plenty of benches to sit and watch the boat come in and out of the harbour. There is a small beach area that has lots of pretty colored little rocks along the shoreline. The walk to the round Casino Building is pretty much the end of the road before a mountainside resort. I passed by some waterfront restaurants that were even crowded on a cloudy day. My walk back to the tender was quick and the ride back to the cruise ship was also pretty nice and calm.

We picked up a cart on a Monday morning when the island was basically empty. The customer service was absolutely terrible--cold, rude, and dismissive when we started to ask questions about where we should go and any tips or recommendations, even though we were the only people in line. We were shown the "typical" route and told it wouldn't take more than an hour as long as we didn't stop too long in one place. I can verify that is absolutely not true, and the entire route will only take one hour if you drive straight through and never get out of the cart. Our entire trip took 2h 8 min since we stopped to see a few things and one of the streets on the route was closed due to road work. When we returned the cart, we were charged for the two hours (fine) but we were also charged a "late fee" of $1/min for the extra 8 minutes. I mean, come on--we were the only ones renting from you that day, and we had to turn around because the route you showed us was closed! If possible, rent from one of the other places on the island. I can't verify that they're better, but I know their customer service can't be worse.

They have two locations on the island and it's really a wonder why with the amount of golf carts on the island that there are only two main rental companies. Not only that, you know that there is a monopoly for golf cart rentals when the cost to rent a golf cart is more than a typical car rental. Also, I think the city of Avalon and the Catalina island ferries are both in on this monopoly (you cant bring electric scooters to the island and there's a charge to bring bikes). Any ways, expect to shell out $75 for two hours and no one offers an all day rental option. They would have gotten 1 star but we got a small bag of taffy for returning the cart a few minutes earlier. Customer service is decent.

The difference is obvious, and I provided clear photo comparisons. Staff admitted by phone that the wrong item was sent. Despite acknowledging their mistake, they refused to accept a return and attempted to hide behind a final sale policy. They then asked me to pay additional money to receive the correct item that should have been sent in the first place. A final sale policy does not excuse misrepresentation. When a business sends an item that is materially different from what was advertised, that is the business's error, not the customer's. Blaming the buyer while admitting fault is unacceptable and unprofessional. Rather than taking responsibility, this shop chose to argue, deflect, and shift the cost of their mistake onto the customer. I will be disputing the charge and sharing this experience publicly so others are aware. I would strongly recommend shopping elsewhere if you value honesty and accountability.
