I'll give it two stars, at best. LexEatIn was the first third-party food delivery service in Lexington. Before there was GrubHub, Takeout Taxi, or Uber Eats or anything like that, there was LexEatIn. When they opened, the idea was revolutionary. . .that you could order food online and a company would pick it up and deliver it to you. It gave you delivery options for food beyond the traditional delivery options of pizza or Chinese food. At their peak you could get burgers and fries, Indian food, Italian, French, soul food, and numerous other cuisines delivered through them. For several years, I was a loyal customer of LexEatIn. Late nights at the office and can't take time off to go out for dinner? I'd get food delivered. Wanted something delivered other than Chinese or Pizza? I'd go to LexEatIn. However, there are reasons that they only get two stars. One: They tended to take a long time with any delivery. Instead of delivery in 30 or 45 minutes like ordering delivery would normally take, food from them would come in roughly 45 minutes to an hour or two later. It was often cold. Their process of picking up and delivering the food wasn't very efficient in that regard. Two: They were rather bad about cancelling orders. You'd place an order, then they'd cancel it. Apparently the hours they accepted orders for various restaurants didn't line up well with their actual operating hours. Three: They became downright notorious for how poorly they treated their delivery drivers. They got a reputation for stealing tips (you'd put a tip on the credit card, LexEatIn wouldn't forward it). They got into lawsuits with delivery drivers over refusing to pay their drivers. The State Government started an investigation into their employment practices and they stonewalled and refused to comply with subpoenas. When they were sued they refused to turn over subpoenaed documents and had to be threatened with contempt of court to get them to turn over employment records of their drivers (who they insisted were "independent contractors", the drivers disagreed). They became known for being in the news every so often for the latest updates in their legal problems about how they treat their drivers. Some tried to say it was inevitable with any food delivery that these problems would happen. . .but you don't hear about lawsuits like this from pizza places or other delivery joints. Once other delivery services came into town, they beat the pants off of LexEatIn. While normally I'd like to go with a local business and not a chain or national service, they were so clearly superior to LexEatIn that I took my business to them (and I think most of Lexington did too). read more

Made a large order gave huge tip, requested for ketchup etc. One item was missing from our order, called back to get order sent, they hung up t hen called back attitude was given said food will be there. It is already paid for and lunch will be over and one of our employees has no food. We also did not receive any ketchup we spent over $100 bucks! Never again!! An hour later we finally received our missing item, thrown in a bag, leaking and cold. I called the manager argued with me because we wanted a refund? How difficult is it to give money back when the food is now what we wanted? I need to know who the owners are to contact them. this is a horrible company and I have written bad reviews on Better Business Bureau and every other place I can find. read more

These guys have no real plan for dealing with orders that go wrong. I ordered from an Asian restaurant and the description of the sweet and sour chicken indicated it was covered in a flour batter and fried (like typical sweet and sour chicken.) What arrived was a stewed chicken with no batter. I also ordered fried tofu and received fried rice instead. The people at the restaurant were eager to help and get me some different food or a refund, but said I had to call lexeatin. The people at lexeatin acted like they couldn't be bothered when I called. When I insisted on getting some kind of help, they called the restaurant and gave me a $4.99 refund for the fried tofu and nothing for the poorly described sweet and sour chicken. I am $50 down now, but at least I know not to order through lexeatin again. I recommend using lexeatin to find a list of restaurants that might have food you would like, and then looking up and calling the restaurants directly. You will cut out the very unhelpful middle man and it's associated expenses and have a more pleasant experience. read more

For the same deliver fee and tip that pizza will cost you. Wouldn't you rather feast on Shrimp etouffee? I did today for lunch. Only downside. I had an issue with an order. Contacted the offices by phone. I was told I'd get a call back. And they never did. But considering the variety of foods I can have delivered to my door. I forgave and forgot all ready. read more

I don't mind the hour wait, because it's understandable. However, when they screw up and have to go get the original food you order, add another hour. Stay away. read more

I've ordered from LexEatIn a number of times and have finally decided it is just not worth it. The delivery fee is $4, the minimum orders tend to be ridiculous (sometimes $30+), and I've had endless trouble with the delivery drivers. What finally convinced me that it wasn't worth the hassle was having an incomplete order delivered, having customer service tell me they would send out the missing item, then two hours later calling back to discover that they had decided to refund the missing food rather than doing what I asked and sending the food. The supervisor I spoke to was NOT helpful or apologetic in any way. Disgusted with their poor customer service and that's why I won't be ordering again. read more

We used to order from Lexeatin couple of times a month as a special treat for the family and try some new cuisine and everything used to arrive very quickly with a smile and hot, until last night. First off is the time. We ordered from Tolly Ho at 6:40 with an estimated delivery time at 8:15. It is a Friday so I cut them slack for giving such a long time. At 8:18 I called to inquire about my order, whoever answered the phone was obviously put out by my question, put me on hold for a few minutes, came back to proceed to tell me that the order has an estimated delivery time of 8:16 and I should give it a few minutes. I thanked her and told her that is was 8:25 and don't correct me. 5 minutes later the food showed up delivered by someone higher than Cheech & Chong. Reeked of pot and couldn't talk. He must have sat in a parking lot and cheefed for a while because all the food was cold and nasty. The bread was soggy, melted cheese had congealed and that only thing that wasn't cold was the milkshake that had turned into chocolate milk. Absolutely pathetic. THE WORST! First off, the delivery driver was 30 minutes late and wouldn't listen when we tried to give him directions. Second, the pizza was upside down so the cheese and toppings were dried to the top of the lid where we could not eat them. We called the supervisor and she YELLED at me for calling. My company has ordered from Lex Eat In on three different occasions. Below are our experiences...each time took at least an hour...I wouldn't reccommend them to anyone: 1st experience, Chilis - Three separate orders. The sides were forgotten on one order so they only had their meat, no forks, etc. were included, no napkins were included and none of the sauces we requested were included plus a bowl of soup had spilled in the bag. Extremely sloppy and such a big mess. 2nd experience, Ellos - Three separate orders. Two of the orders were combined into ONE dish...one order didn't receive it's sides of beans or rice and no sour cream was included as we had both asked and paid for. No forks, napkins, etc. Food spilling out of the containers - very, very messy. 3rd experience, Ellos - Two separate orders. Orders were correct this time, however, we still didn't get the sides of sour cream we requested and were given silverware this time but they were spoons....kind of hard to eat a burrito, torta or anything non-soupish with a spoon. No hot sauces were included. I have ordered Ellos a few times before they went to Lex Eat In as their only delivery source. They were here within 20 minutes, had all orders perfect, sour cream, hot sauces and everything else included. NOT sloppy. They had card readers as well so that you didn't have to give your cc information over the phone or net. And....believe it or not we had forks!!! LOL We absolutely LOVE Ellos, unfortunately, Lex Eat In have completely lost our business which unfortunately includes Ellos since they only use this service for delivery now. read more

Placed an order online from my hotel room, estimated time of delivery was a little over an hour, which I thought was a bit long for a Sunday evening. However, the food arrived hot and on time. The delivery fee and tip (totaling about $11) is definitely worth it, especially after a long day traveling and not wanting to venture out for good food. Overall, great variety of options. If it were possible to give this company a negative review, I would do that! I just had the WORST experience EVER from this place. I ordered from food from them. The food was wrong when it arrived. I caught the driver, and he called his boss. He got out of the car and told me that his boss yelled out him because he made the phone call. I needed to call Applebee's directly! After calling the contact number on their website, the person (I refuse to use the word customer service) was rude, unhelpful and hung up on me. I called the restaurant myself and spoke with the manager. He said he had talked to her, and I should receive a full credit. I looked at my account, and she had only removed the steak... not the half of my order that was incorrect. After 3 phone calls and too much arguing for quality customer service, I was only out TIP (REALLY) and SERVICE FEES... which equated to over $10. You would save more time and money by just doing Carside service. I will be contacting the Franchise corporate office about the POOR service this company provides on their behalf. Things for the Management of LexEatIn should consider: 1. Train your staff to deliver quality customer service. 2. Make sure the customer is happy with their experiences. 3. This time, though, the lazy driver wouldn't even get out of his car to bring it to the address I had requested. After my Indian food order was delivered an inedible due to the driver spilling the entire portion into the carry out bag, it took me 7 phone calls to reach a customer service agent. They were completely apathetic, never apologizing for my food being ruined, and only offered to give me a "discount" consisting of the tip that I had paid. I have used them several times, once, they gave the food to my 4 year old and walked off, they have spilled items, other minor mess ups. Last night, I got shrimp fajitas that were coconut battered instead of the regular shrimp. I called the restaurant to figure out as I have food sensitivity. My mistake. At 945, I called the restaurant after getting contaminated food instead of the service. I waited til morning to call as I was sick right after eating. Customer service, used loosely, called back at almost 9 at night and told me their policy, blah blah, which is NOT posted on their site. I didn't want much, just a comp for that item. Second time in a row that something was left off my order. Second time I have called and gotten an awful customer service rep. Sounds like they're college kids who just don't care. The delivery driver completely forgot my entree and the person I spoke with cussed and asked if I wanted it credited. I said no I'm hungry, that's why I ordered an entree. I paid for this food and it will be delivered. Less than an hour later it finally showed up. Tonight I thought I would give it another chance. Bad idea. Same thing happened. Forgot an ordered item once again. I called and all they wanted to do was credit it. No...I ordered it for a reason. Not to mention the fees they charge. You better be prepared to add $12-$15 for delivery and processing fees. All that extra money and you'd think you'd receive all your food. What am I paying you for? Definitely STAY AWAY!!!! Paid the fee ($3) to include a card for a friends birthday but they sent a sticky note that had half the message and not who it was from. I have used the service a couple of times. I didn't have any issues with my orders, but I don't think they give all the tips (except on cash orders) to the drivers. A friend of mine worked there after I had ordered from them twice and he told me they have all sorts of other fees they don't itemize. They also charge their drivers $30 per shift if they have to miss, even with a valid excuse. My friend's phone met with disaster so he couldn't work until it was replaced (they communicate with dispatch via text message) and they wouldn't give him his last paycheck saying he owed them $30 for the four shifts he was scheduled even after he took them an email from AT&T saying he filed an insurance claim for his damaged phone. I won't ever order from them again. I have no respect for a company that treats its employees so shabbily. read more

This "business" is a joke. Whether you're a customer or an employee you will no doubt be disappointed with this company. I worked as a driver for a week and it only took me that long to see through the bullshit. The paycheck I received was barely a third of what I had earned, which was just enough to pay for the gas I had used (which they don't reimburse you for). When I went in to get my check, I knew something was up. I confronted Audrey about the low amount and was given no answers and no reassurance of future answers. What I was told was that if I entered the property again I would be arrested for trespassing. I was accused of calling her names and harassing her, none of which happened. She got really defensive with me for absolutely no reason. I also witnessed horrible customer service from her and was even told by certain restaurants that she was rude to the employees there. After using this service faithfully for several years, we ordered dinner this week and we were only delivered partial meals. When we called LexEatIn, we were told they would call the restaurant to see about getting the rest of our meals delivered. We never heard back from them. When my husband called back the next day to have our charges reversed, LexEatIn told us not only had they left us a message but that the restaurant had delivered the balance of our food to our door. Guest they didn't inform our four large dogs that bark if a fly so much as flaps it's wings. There is no possible way anyone came to our door. They just lost a good customer. LexEatIn is good delivery service if you plan on staying in and having to check if you got all your food. Most drivers are decent, however more than once a driver has forgotten an item. It is also extremely frustrating to try to contact the company as they ignored my calls until I used a different phone. This service is by far the worst in town. It does not even deserve a 1 star. They always mess up your orders. We ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and pretzels from mellow mushroom. They delivered a BBQ chicken pizza, we told them it was incorrect they said they would bring another pizza. An hour and a half later it was not here. We asked for a refund and they refused to refund anything besides the pizza. 3 hours later and I have 3 breadsticks for $15.
