There are quiet rooms, private areas, and large shareable rooms for any type of studying. The staff are amazing. They are so helpful and sweet. They will drop everything to assist you. The library also plays host to different events throughout the year. My favorite was during exam times they had therapy dogs in the library to help de-stress the students. Great place to be at NU.

Sonoma, the librarian is knowledgeable and helpful. I went in looking for graphic novels. Some…read morelibraries have a them in a separate section but Youngstown does not. I didn't know what I was looking for and just wanted to browse but having them mixed in with all the other books made that almost impossible. They don't even have a graphic novel sticker on the spine like some other libraries do. I was bummed until I talked to Sonoma. She apologized for not having them organized by genre and said she hopes to get that done soon, it's been on the list of things to do for a while. First she asked some questions to see what type would interest me most. Then she proceeded to gather graphic novels off the shelf for me. piling one after another on a table. She explained each one just a bit as the stack grew. She had great insight and knowledge that I appreciated. I ended up with about 20 books (I'm kind of obsessed and couldn't resist Sonoma's enthusiastic "sales pitch"). When I checked out she even put them in a nice bag for me (asking me to return the bag next time I visit) and I left there so happy with a ton of new reading material. Many of the titles were really, really good too! Sonoma turned me on to new authors that I will continue to read. There's nothing like a librarian who knows her stuff!

But also be aware that libraries have so much more these days. The Batavia branch has games you can borrow, stem kits for kids, a seed library! On top of that check out the events on their website or social media, they have so many free activities for adults and kids alike, from art activities to movie nights to so many more. We have been to paint nights for both adults and even my 1 year old, they had a cool baby race my daughter participated in, we gave been to trivia and always participate in their summer read program. I was there today March 24 at 11:15am your 2 millenial females with dark hair glasses and ponytails were sitting at the desk by the computers. They were gossiping about customers. Saying how they don't know the person but they feel like they are.... I went up to your dark hair guy at the desk by the front. He had glasses and a red sweatshirt. He refuses to do anything about it. He says I stand behind my coworkers. All I asked was for the behaviour to be more professional. Another blonde lady with glasses ( she was about my age. I'm 49) she hears the conversation and goes over to the desk and tells the millenial lady working about my complaint. I then hear the millenial lady say well you know she's a....the lady stops her and says, we should avoid saying anything else cause she might come over and yell at us. See this why people don't feel comfortable coming to the downtown library anymore. I've worked in Customer service the last 30 years of my life. I don't understand why employees in a Library get to behave so rudely?? At any of my jobs we would have been fired for it Please teach your staff some professionalism

If I am ever in that area, I would like to sit there and cozy up with a book, or do some uninterrupted work. There was also an art show happening with pieces from students in Amherst. What talent. The librarian was kind and enthusiastic about the program. The playground out in front looked wonderful with many children utilizing it. This is a bright, beautiful space offering so much besides the usual library things. It looked like there were a bunch of meeting rooms as well.

This is a great library. It has an awesome children's area with books, games and even costumes for…read morethe little ones! They offer tons of programs for older people who want to figure out their computers, to babysitting courses for teens and resume writing help for anyone! There are great study areas on the top and middle floors and every once and a while they have old books for sale for about a quarter each! I have been coming here to study since I was a kid and it is my favourite library in this town. The old librarians are always helpful if you need it. The young people who put away the books sometimes will start to gossip when you are trying to study but if you tell them off they are horrified. Some odd rules exist like they don't want you to put your feet up on the ancient tables and you can't have a computer in the silent study room... Making it useless but other than that it's a good library.

I like the room between shelves, easy to walk around, no clutter. Helpful librarians. Good selection of children's and graphic novels. A bit sparse in adult books but f you can't find what you're looking for the librarians may be able to order it for you. This space has a peaceful atmosphere that I like.
