OMG!!! Okay.... So I'm a 'Boomer' and technically not supposed to use that expression (at least according to my kids). But, I couldn't help using an exceptional exclamation to emphasize what an incredible discovery I had yesterday! I happened to find Leve on-line while looking for a baked treat nearby (I'm visiting Coastal Carolina University). Leve is tucked in an unusual spot, in more of an industrial zone (less than 5 minutes from CCU, just across 501). But, make no mistake, it is a quaint little shop that can boast of award winning scones (a huge variety of delicious flavors), croissants (the chocolate ones rival the best I tasted on a recent trip to Paris) and sourdough breads that will make you wish you had found Leve even sooner! Not to mention the personable, friendly and proud owners (the chefs themselves) who are only too happy to assist you and chat with you in between waves of customers (almost all who have discovered Leve through word of mouth)! I went back Wednesday to pick up a few things to share with folks at home and didn't realize they don't do a full spread of baked goodies as is done on Saturdays. I actually thought I walked into the wrong place because it looked so different. Assuming they noticed the confusion on my face, the owner says 'you must've been here on Saturday. We only have that selection of baked goods on Saturdays, if you watched the video it clearly explains that.' I was completely taken aback and to this day, have no idea what video he's referring to. I picked a couple items of whatever was available, then chose the olive garlic bread. As I said it out loud, the owner says 'it's OLIVES bread.' Embarrassed that I read the name from the label incorrectly, I again had no idea what he was talking about, it clearly states OLIVE GARLIC SOURDOUGH. He must've noticed my confusion again and explained how it's actual pieces of olives in the bread and not olive oil. I told him I knew it was olives and he said that some customers think it's 'olive oil'. Anyway, I spent $46 and probably won't return because I felt awful after that experience. It doesnt take away from the quality or taste of the products, but the professionalism was lacking. read more

The bread is amazingly fresh, and the cheesecakes are delicious and flavorful. Weekdays they have a much smaller selection. Will need to go on Saturday as they push back one of the walls and they have a lot more pastries to choose from. Edit: made it back on Saturday. And oh wow the pastries made it worth the drive. The raspberry croissant and the bacon one was amazing. And the options for the sourdough rolls as long as you make it early enough give you a hard time choosing how many to grab. read more

The baked goods here are always great, but I bought a multigrain sourdough today and when I got it home, it was almost too hard to slice. I called them up, and chef Blunt immediately offered me a replacement, explaining to me that it was just a little mishap where a couple of yesterday's breads weren't pulled from the shelf. Awesome bakery. Everything is great quality and fresh. Better than homemade. There is nothing to complain about here. They even have classes so you can learn yourself. Great value and well taught. The original sourdough was delicious!!!! Nice crisp crust and the inside was perfectly soft with that fabulous chewiness you want from a good sourdough bread. Super friendly. Looked like mama and daughter were baking up some yummy goodness when I walked in. The bakery case looked great!! This small bakery is exceptional. It's that good that we make the drive from North Myrtle Beach to get their products. Their croissants and jalapeño and cheddar cheese bread and the original breads are fantastic. This was written up in paper as a fantastic bakery. Long ride to get there and very disappointed in assortment and counter help. Pastry looked good but limited supply and not as pictures showed. Bread is excellent as are the desserts. Counter help needs to be better trained. Bread sometimes incorrectly packaged (i.e. bread labelled as PLAIN sour dough but had raisins/cranberries & pieces of white chocolate). Freshly baked bread should be separated from other breads or appropriately marked. (Day old bread should cost less.) Owner is very abrupt and/or simply too busy to deal with customers or his workers (which frequently change). The Food is great, but the place got too busy, too fast. Hopefully their expansion will solve some of these issues. read more
