It also helped that this studio was recommended to me by people in Calgary who had been here and had taken classes from the owner/teacher (Marlene M). If people know of your studio provinces away, than it must be pretty good. This studio is very clean and just the right amount of space to not be overwhelming. When I arrived, the front desk person was very friendly and helpful answering my questions and helping me get set up with a pass. Some studios feel intimidating when you enter them, not this one. I felt welcomed and comfortable. I attended a number of classes with a few different teachers who all seemed to be well trained and had a great rapport with students. I felt a sense of community and was pleased when I would see teachers chatting with students after class and answering questions. Also, the prices for drop-ins and such seem to be on par with other studios around. After some time, I noticed this studio had programs for different ailments, such as the Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis and Cardiac Program. I don't know much about them as I didn't inquire, but I think it's great classes like this are being offered. I have since moved away from Toronto, but visit frequently, so when I'm in town I like to stop by here for a refreshing class in my favourite style of yoga.

At the last opening in October, I had renewed my class hours + I had made a small donation in November 2020. I have been a student of Yoga Centre Toronto for almost twenty-five years and had enjoyed working with the teachers and students. I feel as if they gave up on us, because throughout the difficult year of 2020, we never gave up on them. Whether or not we'll get our money back is up to the legal system. When this Pandemic ends, we will be faced with finding a new studio and teachers!

They cater to all levels and I have never felt out of place. I have been keeping to the lower intensity classes, so can't speak to the more advanced classes. The instructors communicate very well and I have never had any trouble keeping up. They offer some great intro pricing (and they currently have a coupon on Yelp!), so if you're unsure if this is the place for you, you don't have to commit to much.

If you can spot the Starbucks on the corner, the studio is just next door. I read about the studio after finding it listed on the MindBody app and registered as a first time client for $10. There are 3 other great introductory offers, so check those out if you are interested in returning the same week or later in the month. The interior is very simple. There is an iPad right at the front desk, where you can see your name listed and a simple tap allows you to check in. The changerooms, separated into men and womens, are across the main floor. There is a single bathroom stall in the back and cubby holes to store your personal belongings. No showers are available. Ample amounts of props, blankets, blocks and chairs for adjustments and supported asanas were available. There were cleaning supplies and paper towels too, for the end of the class. I tried a vinyasa class with Patricia at noon on a weekday. Normally, classes must have a minimum of 3 participants for it to go forward but Patricia was happy to teach me. I had a great time. She inquired into my background and experience, had great pacing, as well as cues. Patricia was a pleasure to meet; she was very warm and was happy to tell me about herself and get to know me too. A clean, well-equipped studio with a community feel. Will definitely revisit in the future and seek out Patricia again. MAT RENTALS: Free of charge!

Dropped by on a hot and humid Sunday afternoon. I am not doing any hot yoga in a heated room, but decided on trying one of their Yin classes. The reception area is nice and roomy. Right when you enter the studio there are this big area for you to hang up your "winter" coat and little partition boxes for you to put away your shoes. This is great since you don't have to drag your coats into the change room and that save students a lot of hassle. I was greeted promptly and I signed in the class with my passport of prana. There are 3 different sitting/waiting area in the reception area. Of course compare to other smaller studio I been to, this is so spacious! The change room has all the facilities you need. 4 Showers, 2 toliets, 2 sinks and 1 hairdryer. There are also filtered water fountain to fill up your water bottle. There are just a few small simple/home made lockers for you to lock up your valuables. Remember to bring your own locks. The practice room is really bright with big frosted floor to ceiling windows. There are 2 ceiling fans which was on, so the room can be cool down to around 31 C for the Yin class. Our instructor is really knowledgable and really patient when she was guiding out through the poses. She explained how each poses are done and demostrated them and then tell us about their health benefits. Each poses we held for 5-10 minutes and we were encouraged to use props like blocks and bolsters so we can held the poses longer. She also dropped by a couple of time to help me adjust my poses. I love adjustments!! extra star for that! I still sweating even all the poses are done on the floor..yes just lying there I was sweating! :) There are also free tea set up at one section of the waiting area and you are more than welcome to have a cup or 2... I will definitely be back to take some other classes in this location. The parking on the side street is free if you come to classes after 4 pm or weekend! Not too many studios in the area has a late class on Sun 5 pm, their schedules are great!

I went to a late class & was surprised to find a lot of spots. Thank god... Was really looking fwd to this studio as I live close by. The staff welcomed me with opened arms. All very nice & even showed me around & offered tea. It's also relatively clean & nicely deorated. They also took time in between classes to clean and wipe up the studio. Go early and grab a good spot., They don't let you in till about 10-15 mins b4 the clas begins. Their 8:15pm class was hella busy. Mat distance was about 8 inches. The closest I've had in a long time in a hot room! I thank my lucky stars that I was beside a fellow female yelper :) Sorry but some guys just naturally smell @@ But space was def. limited and I had to move around to avoid hitting anyone. If it's your first time in a hot room, take it easy. It was easily 43 degrees tonight. Our instructor Nikki was very nice & kept adjusting the fan to make it more comfortable for us. Wish she helped adjust some of the students too.

It turns out I was actually getting very physically ill from the heat and my brain was making me yawn desperately trying to cool me down. In the class a lady screamed at me to stop, the instructor told her we all have to share space. I moved to the back of the class and far away from anyone else to not disturb anyone. I came home and googled on the internet why I was yawning in hot yoga and saw that many people complained that they yawn a lot in yoga and apparently it's a common response to yoga and even more so to hot yoga if you get overheated the brain makes a person yawn as a thermoregulatory response to make them cool down. I do have a medical condition that makes me insensitive to heat and makes me suffer greatly in the heat but I tried this out to see how it would go for just an hour. The yoga instructor had nothing to say to me after the class about my yawning when I asked her where the blocks for beginners level 1 were kept. I was having trouble getting the app to work. The next day I suddenly got a very angry phone call from the owner about how I am destroying his business, I'm about to run his business into the ground and how seven people complained to him that I yawned too much in the class. I was really surprise, puzzled and blindsided and stunned, especially since the yoga instructor had said absolutely nothing to me even when there was the opportunity to privately have a talk after the class. I assumed that she must be the one who conveyed concerns to the manager because it seems a little bit extreme that after a little yawning in one yoga class seven people called and asked to speak to the manager and threaten to end their membership. The manager seemed really angry at me and frankly it was creepy and scared me as a woman, I didn't feel comfortable there anymore with a man intimidating me like this and it seemed like a bad situation to put myself into, so I told him I would like back my money. I don't know what triggers this or went into this behind the scenes and any unseen factors that I may not have been aware of but this is an awful way to treat customers and awful customer service. I cannot think of any time in my life I've been treated worse and frankly abused worse in a business. I did receive my money back but now I have the added stress of this very unpleasant situation to deal with. To make matters worse once I read that yawning is a thermoregularory response, the brain automatically does it to get the air flowing and cool you down if it senses you are too hot, I realized that I was sick in the class and having a medical reaction and symptom of a medical issues. I realized that I must have been way too hot, and I do actually have a medical problem that makes me very sensitive to heat during the summer, and causes me a lot of symptoms but I hadn't noticed any issue with feeling hot during the yoga class, it was warm but not unpleasant for that short space of an hour (I didn't sweat during the class at all) and did not have my usual symptoms of heat intolerance. I had to find out all of this myself. I think this is what may have happened with me. I was and am appalled at the way I was treated as a sick woman and the stunning disregard and indifference and callousness to what was a health and medical situation and safety concern for me, and me being very sick. Instead of having empathy for me the owner callously accused me of destroying his business. The manager didn't even have a discussion with me, acted like I had chosen to yawn on purpose which I tried to explain to him I didn't, I explained to him that it was involuntary and I didn't know how that happened and couldn't help it and I didn't mean it and actually had apologized to a woman in the class who complained to me as well and he seemed to be totally unaware that yawning is a common reaction to hot yoga and a theromoregularoty response, I'd expect him as the manager to know this and be the one to inform me of this. It's outlandish to accuse someone having a medical reaction of destroying your business. He didn't show a shred of concern (odd for a business that markets itself as being about health and wellness) and say maybe check with your doctor about this reaction, or maybe this form of exercise may not be appropriate for you because you have had this reaction, which would have been more professional and probably I would not have returned knowing it's not suitable for my medical problem with my body now. I went to this business to get stress relief and feel better and now I am a hundred times more stressed out. I wanted to like these people and felt really friendly towards them. I invite the owner to discuss my concerns with me and may consider amending this review.
