Wan-Kai takes a hands-on approach to his treatment and will spend the entire hour and finding your referred pain points. He once determined that my wrist and elbow pain was stemming from the fascia in my cheeks: he used deep pressure to release the tension, and I immediately felt relief and was in awe of his expertise. You will be amazed by how much he knows about the interconnected pathways of the body that most other PTs do not, because those ones rarely spend time working with their hands literally on their patients, checking their entire bodies from head to toe. Combined with the fact that he diagnoses and treats patients every day, it puts him in a unique position to identify the root cause of pain rather than simply treating the symptoms. I first saw Dr. Clayton over six years ago for persistent lower back pain that had reached a 7 or 8 out of 10. Beyond the adjustment itself, he spent time understanding my lifestyle, exercise habits, and movement patterns. He gave me exercises to strengthen areas where I had deficits, but what impressed me most was that he identified the true source of my pain: I wasn't breathing correctly. He taught me how to breathe into my diaphragm, which improved my core stability, reduced the load on my lower back, and ultimately eliminated my pain. More than five years later, my lower back pain has never returned. I have remained completely pain-free, and I still use the breathing techniques and exercises he taught me. More recently, I developed nagging neck pain that lingered for weeks. I knew exactly who to call. Within just two or three visits, Dr. Clayton again identified the underlying issue. My idea of "good posture" was actually creating excessive tension in my traps, and hours at a desk were making the problem even worse. He explained exactly what was happening, showed me how to correct it, and gave me practical exercises I could do at home. My pain has already dropped from an 8 to about a 3, and it continues to improve every day. The common thread in both experiences is that Dr. Clayton genuinely cares about helping his patients.
