My husband and I moved into the Bel Air Estates while it was owned by Sea Breeze Dothan. None of us…read morewere told about any sale that was going down at the time of us entering into a lease. We were informed that the properties had been purchased by Vineyard Management Group. I've lived at an apartment complex that was purchased by another party, and it went much smoother than this. They didn't read our lease, and our power was cut off after them not paying the power bill for 2 months. In our original lease we do not have a non-refundable pet fee or non-refundable pet deposit, and they were going to refuse to return it to us. And now they are telling us that our deposit was not $500 as we paid on our lease, but that it was only 205. I have this photo of the original lease, and a copy of what they sent us as reimbursement for our security and pet deposit. When we moved in, we were told that there was a special going on for $1,000 that would cover first month's rent and the security deposit. That led us to believe that $500 of that was security deposit and that the other 500 went towards rent. Someone lied to us in the beginning I suppose, or the company now is trying to keep from returning our security deposit even though we left the place in better condition than when we first entered the place. It was not ready for move in when we entered. We had to sweep the floors, we had to fix the sink in the kitchen because it was flooding due to a lack of proper sealing around the sink. There was a hole in the wall that we did not cause, there were actually two, one in a bedroom, and one in the living room. This wouldn't have been much of an issue, however, the way that we were handled because of this issue was completely disrespectful. First, I was lied to, then told that I wasn't lied to concerning the pet deposit. Then, trying to get the deposit back was hell to say the least so we have finally received some sort of payment a month after we moved out. This is to anyone who currently lives there now, or anyone who may potentially look at renting from them. Make sure you have all your paperwork, make sure you have everything in writing anytime they say something. Because they will try to screw you over.

The worst living experience I have ever experienced. I had my mother visit and give our deposit a…read moremonth in advance. We signed the lease then and was told everything would be ready when we got there. We got a call 20 hours before we were suppose to be moving in that they didn't have any AC in the place we were moving into. Mind you we already had our UHAUL packed and we're about to leave for the 12 hour drive. Our baby was one month old at that time and they couldn't give us an exact time on when we would have AC. It was the beginning of July and the weather was 100 degrees. Not livable with an infant. We were given another "option" to move into. We obviously had no choice since they didn't have a date that the AC would be fixed and had to move into the other one. We had moved in and we're starting to unpack and the place was absolutely disgusting. Rat and cockroach infestation and dishes still in the dishwasher. Dog food in the cabinets and had to mop the floors 7 times just to not make our feet turn black. The whole experience has been terrible and the managers are absolutely AWFUL. They use the word accommodate even though I don't think they even know what the word means. The whole place is sketchy and had to call the cops a few times because there were knife fights and other dangerous things happening. The management disregards everything you say and they lie about everything. I really wish I had something positive to say but they have treated us terribly. We moved out 3 months before our lease ended and continued to pay rent just because we couldn't handle the place anymore. I called to get our deposit back and they said that they were taking out a $475 cleaning fee. That is a ridiculous fee and we had cleaned it before we had left. Don't move here...
