Fun fun fun The best part was the super engaging staff. Several of them helped us out and they were all awesome! I particularly like how they encourage and basically won't let you start your room until you pick a team name. A great way to encourage people to get their team spirit on! Top it off with a picture after your done your room regardless of if you finished or not. The variety of coroplast signs you can hold up were a super great touch! I noticed several times if a doorbell for a hint was requested the staff would run- something I really appreciated seeing in the staff as when your time is ticking and your stuck the worst is waiting for your hint man to come. Having been to several rooms before we have experienced our share of rooms and found the 911 room challenging but very accomplish-able. The puzzles were well designed and little difficult math was required to solve them. All the gadgets and locks in the rooms worked with no issues. Plus we had the staff demo how to use the locks we would encounter in the room before we started- very appreciated!!! The 'bonus' part of this room I don't think we ever would have gotten without a hint but before we called for a hint we made a guess and our time was up- kaboom!. Having basically finished the room we still felt great and all had a fun time. They did advise us they re-vamped this room and it is no longer considered their easiest starter room but the second most difficult. The more linear layout of puzzles makes this not as difficult as some other rooms we have experienced. Definitely recommended! read more

Walking in here on a Saturday afternoon we were greeted by a cramped waiting area full with two different groups. One had finished their room and were watching their friends attempting a room on a monitor and a second group of ladies were waiting for the group that was being watched to finish so they could go in. The group that was watching their friends were quite loud and obnoxious. They were discussing the different puzzles and solutions while the group of ladies were waiting to go into that room. The female employee working asked them to quiet down and not discuss anything because the ladies were going into that room next, but one guy just kept going on. Terrible. Also, the male employee behind the desk showing the group the feed didn't seem to be helping and was quite into what was going on. Gladly my group wasn't doing that room so no spoilers for us. We did the 911 room. The premise of the room is that 4 university students have been murdered. The murderer has set a trap for the detectives (you) and you're locked in the room with a bomb that will go off in an hour if you can't solve the murders. We escaped with 2 minutes to spare, using one hint. One hint for a very poorly worded puzzle that was very misleading. I won't say anything else about that. No spoilers! Overall the room was ok but not extremely challenging. The different types of puzzles varied enough that it wasn't repetitive. There was really only the one poorly worded puzzle that stumped us for about 20 minutes, otherwise we would have escaped the room with tons of time. On a more positive note, the signs they give you to hold for your group photo when you finish are a fun addition. read more

I came here for my birthday with a few friends. I'm the only one in the group that had done an escape room before. But the staff were great with explaining how everything worked and how to unlock the different locks in the room. We did the 911 Escape and it was so much fun! We even escaped with a few minutes to spare, which was exciting. I had previously done Apartment 103, which was a good room but very scary! (not a fan of the jump scares). I like that they will take a group picture for you. It adds a fun element to the whole experience. My friends and I had a blast and it was a great way to spend my birthday. We will definitely be back to try more rooms, especially since they now have the whole bottom level of their building and they plan to add at least three more rooms. read more

I've been here twice, so I feel like I can now write an accurate review. The first time that I came here, it felt really disorganized. There were a couple different groups in the waiting area and it felt like we were left behind in the shuffle a little bit. Later, we learned that they had forgotten to give us a tutorial on the locks, which caused us to run out of time when we couldn't get certain locks open, even though we were putting in the right combination. That was a huge letdown. They gave me 10% off for my next visit because of this, but that only ended up being $13 or something like that. I thought I'd give them another try, so recently, I took a group of friends to do the Psychiatric Hospital room. This time we were given more attention when we checked in, however, as soon as we walked in, we were scolded for arriving late (we arrived 10 minutes early, as per the website). I mentioned that I read on the website that we were supposed to arrive ten minutes early, but I was told that I was wrong. I doubled checked afterwards, and the website still reads to show up 10 minutes early, but in a different section that I didn't notice, it says to show up 15 minutes early. Confusing. The room was a lot more exciting than the previous room I did, and it was multi room, with some really fun effects. My group really enjoyed it, up until the very last puzzle, trying to get the code for the door to escape the room. We tried everything and ended up wasting our last 5-10 minutes trying to figure it out. One of the staff came in once we ran out of time to see where we were, and we told him what we thought the combination was. He told us that it was correct and should have opened the door. He attempted to put the combination in, and couldn't open the door either. He had to open the door from the outside and retry the lock with the door open before it would work. It is very frustrating to come so close to escaping only to be thwarted by faulty equipment, especially since we were told only 5% escape from this room and if we did, we would be entered to win movie tickets. The staff didn't seem concerned by the lock not working and avoided talking about it when we left. At this point, I don't think I would return to Level 1. The level of professionalism is just not where it should be, from the staff, to the construction of the rooms. read more

So I decided to try two companies(here and Exit) and do it with four people at Exit and six people at level one. I learned if you are very good at puzzles, like to work as a team, have very little chaos and finish the room than you should go with a smaller group and more important choose who you go with VERY carefully. A selfish disruptive player or two can make a fun experience you have looked forward to for years feel ruined and chaotic. When I decided to make plans and go do this Level one was the most appealing to me. I picked Exit as the other because it was the most suggested by friends. The entrance to level one is a bit of an eye sore and the night I was there a little dangerous. There was a bunch of construction material between the entrance doors that you had to dance around a bit. Be careful and don't let this deter you. We were greeted with big smiles and friendly conversation. The explanation of locks was a bit rushed much like at exit but I didn't mind plus it wasn't so fast you could barely understand him. He stopped plenty to check if we had questions. I picked room "Haunting of Apt 103" as it's the best odds for the first time at about 46%. We were given two flashlights between six people which is not enough. Not enough at all. At least three is needed. The room is eventually pitch black you can't expect six people to use two tiny little flashlights. The story he told was short but pretty funny when he shut the door after we walked in and locked us in while he was mid scary sentence. So here's where I learned my lesson for the second time because the selfish guy from the Exit room we did before here went straight into chaos mood. He did it on purpose to make me crazy but the other guys except two that tried to work as a team followed his selfish chaos. Most of the time I had no idea what they found and I would have to figure it out then solve the puzzles behind them then we keep going. They solved a couple that I don't even get to see but every time they stood around looking to figure things out I would figure them out. It was hard because I'd have to ask multiple times for the clues from my team. The puzzles at level are much better than Exit. They come with a story that you can follow and make you think more because not everything is a clue. Some information is just fun storyline with a touch of red herring and the rest are clues for your puzzles. You have to figure out what you need. The rooms are not as fancy as Exit but they put more into the experience which means more. They scared us a bunch of times while we were looking and even had some live elements to the experience. With two boxes left to open one of our two flashlights ran out and six of us had one flashlight to work with. We needed a flashlight to see the clue to open one of the boxes and the two selfish guys had them. So even though I said we were not to use any outside clues, we used one. When they told me what it was and I found it in about five secs and I was pretty mad. We could have finished the whole thing much faster and with no outside clues if we had more flashlights and if the flashlights worked. Still we finished the room in time. When we got out I told the guy that one of the two flashlights they gave us died which is the only reason we needed the clue. To which he says "sorry that happened. I will make sure we keep an eye on that". I was trying to get on the leader board and would have if it weren't for the flashlight (and would have finished at least 20 mins earlier if not for my choice in team but that's my fault). So at the second escape experience I went to they failed me as a customer but offered me nothing but being better for the next customer. They should have offered something. I loved their experience and I want to do it more but I don't want to pay for a faulty experience with how much it costs. If you charge that much you need to get it right. Between Exit and Level 1 escape I would suggest level 1. They have a more immersive experience, better puzzles and a friendlier staff. Plus I firmly believe they have such low completion rates because their puzzles are not relatable to theme, the clues are broken, the tools stop working and when you ask for outside help the staff stalls and steers you away from a quick finish to keep their numbers. I look forward to doing another level 1 room but I will not be changing my rating unless they make up for the last experience plus give a great new one. As they should. Had the best time here. A group of 4 friends and I had the room the girl in apartment 301. The wait was quick and easy. A young boy gave us a header before the room, I thought he was speaking too fast but it was because we arrived late. The room itself was a fun. At first it was light and pretty scary but soon the lights shut off, and we were stuck with the flashlights. The mood was perfect and the scene was so spooky. The sound effects and noises were a nice touch. The codes were difficult but not too hard as we were just idiots. We did ask for a clue and the girl ( Melissa) who helped us was INCREDIBLY NICE. I loved the dresser secret. I won't tell but it was so cool that we were all amazed. Melissa who helped us with clues was the nicest and sweetest person ever. Hope to see her again and hope that the staff is as nice and helpful as she was. We sadly didn't escape but the journey was incredible. This place is a must go. The lights, sounds, clues, decor are just scary and we screamed the whole time. I love my experience. Hope to come back ( I was reading other rooms and there was other rooms in the other escapes. This one has two other rooms and they were both so cool. We got to see what we THE rooms were since we didn't finish, the secret was the dresser lead led to another room. The only multi-room escape adventure in Calgary that I'm aware of! Our team of six went for the "Escape from Death Row" room and we managed to get out with 8 minutes and a bit left (with 2 hints in the last room). Overall, so much fun, great storyline. Went at midnight and did apartment 103. As someone who hates typical scary movies I had no idea what to expect. Looking back now it was so much fun! The room was definitely creepy, but done so in an amazingly tasteful manner. The interweaving of tech and classic clues made the experience even better. Will go back and try some other rooms! read more

This was my first time trying an escape room and if not for my friends, who informed me of the high quality of other venues, I would not pay for the experience again. The puzzles were very poorly planned; many had no connection to the "story" at all. Also, one of the critical items to escape the room was missing, making it impossible to escape without intervention from the staff. Very much a waste of $25 and an hour. read more

After coming with various groups of friends and having tried three of the rooms, I must say that I am very impressed with what they have done with their rooms. My friends and I have went around to different locked rooms around the city and Level 1 is definitely one of the best in Calgary. Without spoiling anything, I really like the extra bit of creativity they put into making their puzzles that makes you raise a brow. If you've never tried a locked room before then I definitely recommend this place! read more

I went tonight with my brother and sister-in-law. The game is challenging but mixes up the type of puzzles and problem solving required. Came in with a few friends, booked 2 rooms back to back First room we played was very small, had a lot of miss leading writing on a lot of things, the hidden item we found later on in the game was falling a part, wasn't sure if we were suppose to have access to it or not puzzles 6/10 decor 4/10 Second room decor was a lot better but had some technical issues with certain things, puzzles weren't really thought out well, final section of the game could of been done a lot better puzzles 4/10 decor 7/10 read more

Went here with a few friends, and had a great time! The owner was very passionate and nice, and accommodated our requests. Hints were given anytime you needed, if you use them they do ruin the fun a bit but are so helpful when you are stuck and frustrated. Immersive and incredibly fun. The puzzles and scenarios are well thought out and engaging. So much fun. We did the hardest room, which was challenging, but the staff were great and gave us hints to help us work through the problems on our own rather than straight up giving us the answers. I have done three rooms as this place now.I definitely have the most fun here than other ones I have been too. They have great puzzles that can be challenging but with a good team all are possible within time limit. Really enjoy the themes they come up with. I cant wait to try more! read more
