My photographic memory told me that I've passed by The Locker Room on the way to some restaurants on Central St. The Locker Room is located directly across from Ryan Field. Currently, there are many off-season apparel, accessories, and gadgets on sale. Once we walked into the actual store, the space was quite cramped and hard to maneuver. However, they were well-stocked and had massive inventories. A older gentleman with a suit was the store attendant. He was very friendly and helpful with Dad's searches for short and long sleeve t-shirts. Dad thought the large size would fit, but they did run small. However, the sweatshirts were true to size. In the end, Dad walked away with one (1) sweatshirt, one (1) short-sleeve t-shirt, one (1) long-sleeve t-shirt, and one (1) cap for $125.31. I thought the price was fair for these four (4) items that would normally cost somewhere between $150 to $200. I'm not really familiar with other NW souvenir shops around, but I would recommend this place if you're looking for everything NW (but they won't beat Wisconsin)!

We started with one salesman who needed to leave and then turned over to another, so since we were first online and had to wait because there were 6 people and only 2 salesmen. One salesman spent time with a young girl and sat with her for a while while we were handed boxes. The service was awful, and I noticed two people left because they had no assistance. We have purchased from here numerous times and would have left if I didn't have my cash points. We will no longer shop at this store. Service is now here--try it on and put the shoes you don't want nicely back in the box. Add but pay $$. You really need to bring your customer service back.

I haven't done a half marathon in almost 10 years and I forgot how important it was to properly fuel myself for endurance runs. These days nutrition and electrolyte tabs aren't cutting it for me anymore. I don't want to hit a wall once I start hitting the 8-10 mile marker so energy gels have been helping me push through with ease and REI has plenty of them. They mostly carry the GU brand and HoneyStinger. I've been trying out flavors and found a couple that I like. REI despite their items being on the pricier side have great selection and quality gear. I was able to get everything I needed in prep for race day. I didn't encounter any issues with staff. It felt more like, "We'll leave you alone unless you need something." I'm totally fine with that. It's an upscale comprehensive sporting goods store with a good amount of items in stock. I was actually impressed with the women's shoe selection. They had more HOKAs in stock compared to Road Runner Sports in Wilmette. I know I could've easily gotten HOKAs online but I'm the type (especially when it comes to apparel and shoes) to want to test items out in person for fit. Had I known they had better availability with more colors in stock, I would've bought my shoes here. REI is granola and you'll need to bring your own bag to shop. They are officially bagless and no longer provide single-use shopping bags at checkout. Parking is easy since it's nestled within a strip mall. I was able to get a spot in front with no issues.

If I find a club I need to fill a broken set, it is always priced too high (they are higher than any other Play It Again Sports (PIAS) by 20-500% for exact match club brands) and they are unwilling to negotiate a lower price except by less than 5%. By comparison to other Play It Again Sports - Shaumburg, Crystal, I was able to purchase the 2 needed clubs at 25% and 16% of the "negotiated" price of an identical club at the Waukegan Ave PIAS store. It's a beautiful warm and humid day in Chicago and the walk was good. The place is very quaint and small but well lit for shopping. It's a woman's boutique specializing in European clothing. The major designer is Solar and I have not heard of it, but designs are suited for a dressier woman. Thankfully that counts me in as I work in an office where jeans are not allowed and it's conservative so the weekends I can go casual. Back to the store the sizes are European and the lady at the counter (I am assuming is the owner) was very kind to tell me that 34 is usually x-small, 36 is small and 38 is medium. I'm usually a medium but some of her clothing allow for a 34 when I tried on a pair of white slacks. It had a great fit, but buying white is difficult because the material may be more revealing than you might like. Her clothes has many price points as she indicated and sales from the previous season is 20% off. Her summer selection drove me to walk in full of blight yellows, pink, and orange. Do stop in if you're in the neighborhood and support local small businesses!
