The joy of being a foodie is that the world of food to explore out there is virtually limitless. In the quest to find more delicious food and ingredients, I'm always delighted to learn about food from other parts of the world
Lesna Chata is a Polish delicatessen which has only been open a month. I came across it today wandering through Sutton and popped in to find a tidy, well-stocked shop.
There were lots of shelves of groceries, some of which were recognisable goods but just with Polish brand names as well as some which looked less familiar. Some of the sauces looked interesting and may be worth a try in the future
My current experience of Polish food is limited to pierogi - dumplings with varied fillings. There were a lot of pierogi in the freezer section
However, my interest was immediately drawn to the deli counter at the front of the shop. There was an interesting assortment of cold cuts of meat, a wonderful array of sausages and a few cheeses. The lovely lady behind the counter was very patient in explaining the products to me and offered me tasters
I walked away with 2 types of kielbasa sausage - garlic and smoked - as well as one of the Edam style cheeses. All for around £3.50
I shall be back, especially with her advice that Thursday is a good day to shop here when they have fresh deliveries. I like the sound of some of the things not available today - a fried style of sausage as well as some made with liver read more
