I don't know what they put in it, i've never had a reaction like that to any skin care treatment before. I don't have sensitive skin, and my face has never had this many blemishes. It looks awful, and it was really disappointing because I did it right before my vacation. I wouldn't recommend the face sugaring, especially for first timers- also its not gonna take ALL the hair you want out but rather about 80%, there are spots on my face that the sugaring couldn't get so it's not worth the price. However, I give it 2 stars overall for their service and the leg waxing, which turned out pretty well.

I have experienced almost the full range of services at Shades and have been uniformly let down, with the exception of a massage I received their five years ago, which remains the best I have ever had. In terms of other services, the waxing was incomplete and the aftercare sloppy, leaving me feeling more like a piece of meat than a cared for client. My manicure had errors, and my pedicure featured a one minute massage, generally falling fall short of it's "spa" title. All in all, the owner is a lovely woman and I wish her all the best, but wish they would address service shortfalls!

Left the nail salon crying and bleeding…read more I have never written a 1 star review, but I need others to be warned so as not to have the same experience. This is a barber shop that has bought some nail equipment but does not have the training, equipment, or skill to advertise nail services. They are clearly nice people who are well-intentioned, but past reviews are from before a clear ownership change and do not reflect current state. We requested two gel main/pedis. They started on the pedicure, and after one hour no nail polish at all had been used. They had only removed one of our previous gel polish and the other hadn't even had nails trimmed (and had no previous polish on). Knowing we didn't have much time left, we asked them to abandon our feet and begin on at least one of our manicures. Unfortunately, the manicure ended up being awful! The equipment was shoddy and the nail polish was very poor quality. Previous nail colour was still visible as it wasn't fully removed, the gel was clumpy/bubbled, and one nail was clipped on the skin and bled. Picture included. By the time we finished 2.5 hours later, we were incredibly frustrated. Then, they charged us $160. 30% more than we pay at a high quality salon in Vancouver, for literally no services being done to any respectable degree. $50 each for two pedicures that didn't end up having any polish applied (and my nails weren't even cut) and $55 for a manicure that no nail salon should ever charge for. They were kind people, but are offering services they cannot follow through on. If they had been honest, we would have saved our time and money. Learn from us!
