I was throwing together a dinner for 22 people, with 1 week notice! I reached out to Brittany after seeing her beautiful website, and raving reviews. She replied within 24 hours and squeezed my event into her busy schedule. The hardest part of the entire process, was choosing from her many amazing menu options. I also needed bartenders, which she hired, coordinated and communicated with for me. Brittany and the two bartenders were professional, kind, and worked together as a team to take care of everything - table settings, bar setup, taking orders, cleaning, taking the garbage out, etc! Our guests had a lovely time, and we were able to enjoy it with them. Everything was easy, I really appreciated that. The meal and the presentation, were absolute perfection. I hired Brittany to cater a small wedding reception dinner for 6 people (my new husband, my mother, myself, and 3 friends) at a friend's home in Garden Home. From beginning to end, she was a pleasure to work with: her website was beautiful and clear, which gave an accurate idea of available food options, and then, in every correspondence, Brittany was quick to respond with availability, pricing, and other details. While we were at the courthouse, Brittany showed up with plenty of time to spare and started preparing things. By the time we returned home, there were salted marcona almonds waiting for us as a simple appetizer as her delicious filo tartlets finished up. The tartlets were tremendously satisfying: enjoyed as a finger food, served cupped in a wonderfully light and crisp filo exterior with a delicate and savory creamy interior, beautifully gilded with edible flowers. Brittany then plated and served us the remaining three courses at the dining table. First was a beautiful mixed greens salad with fresh ripe berries and a wonderfully creamy and mild goat cheese (which pleased even my mom, who's picky about non-cow cheese and dressings other than ranch). That was followed by tender and juicy lamb chops (ringed with a delicious mint and marcona almond pesto). We ended with a satisfying and light cheesecake tart shingled with ripe stone fruit. Brittany kept an attentive eye on us, helping keep our glasses full and ensuring good pacing between courses. She left the kitchen clean and organized and was a calm and friendly presence throughout the meal. I'm so glad I thought to look around for a home chef as an alternative to dining out after my wedding--it made for a much more memorable, intimate, and stress-free experience than going out. We used Brittany for a family birthday dinner in April. We had several food allergies in our group that she had to work our menu choices around. Brittany was very flexible and willing to alter her menu to accommodate our needs. She was a dream to work with! With a personal caterer like this, you either have to have the resources to hire her or the good fortune to get invited to an event she's cooking for. The food was delicious and looked good. She smoked the pork herself, and had grown some of the veggies.A dinner for 20 and everything seemed straight out of the kitchen. I hired Brittany for a birthday dinner, 6 adults and 2 babies. She was prompt with all of her responses prior to the event, she offered many suggestions after I told her of the guests' food preferences. We listed our desired menu along with substitutions, but also trusted she would prioritize finding us the freshest ingredients. We ended up with a fantastic 4 course dinner, with a couple surprise hors d'oeuvre. Everything tasted refreshing and bright. We purchased our own wine, although she could have recommended someone to cater. Brittany was personable and friendly while she cooked (her multi-tasking was top notch, she also did double duty as our photographer for a few key moments in the evening), she explained the ingredients she chose in her dishes. She got hood strawberries picked from Sauvie Island, and hot damn those were delicious! She thoroughly cleaned up after us (including washing some baby food items that weren't part of her dinner), and even hand washed our dishes after finding out our Airbnb ran out of dishwasher detergent. On May 22, 2019 we had Brittney come cater a private dinner party for my husband's 60th Birthday. He had recently caught some yellowtail and she gladly incorporated into our menu. The delicious menu from appetizers to dessert was worth the price per person. The fact that she brought fresh items from her own garden was a plus. By far the best private dining experience we have had. I sat, relaxed and enjoyed my bit of the pampering, along with the ability to visit with our guests (it was a bit of a struggle at times as I am used to doing all of the work). Brittney did it all, from prep to clean up (which was great because our flight the next day was at 6am)! Brook, her assistant, was as brilliant as Brittney. WE WILL definitely be using Brittany again for special events and private dining. If you ever considered a private experience, the value is worth the cost. I even added the unusual caveat that we would be visiting Portland from Austin and would need suggestions on finding the right venue to suit the occasion. Not only did Brittany create one of the most delicious and creative meals we have ever eaten, but she found the perfect space for our evening and went above and beyond with helping set up the room décor so it was absolutely beautiful when we arrived.
