Salad itself had the dressing on top which was nice but a little too much dressing. Ham was also flavorful but could have had more ham on there. Octopus Salad - very unique salad! It was a citrusy flavor of octopus on a bed of greens. The flavors really went well together. Octopus was cooked perfectly, and quite a large amount of octopus as well. Spicy half chicken - It was really delicious! Meat was perfectly cooked. Soft and tender and very flavorful! Quite a large amount of chicken as well and we appreciated that. It came with some roasted potato and some sauce on the side. Not sure what that sauce was but it went really well with the potatoes! Pasties de Nata - So good and so fresh! Pastry was flaky and crispy and the custard side was smooth as well. They gave it with some spices on the side (wasn't exactly cinnamon so I'm not too sure what it was); Sprinkled a little bit of that on top and it took it to another level!

We couldn't find it that night, but did notice Moonshine, a strangely American barbecue joint in a uniquely chic French town. The next night we decided to give it a try. The barbecue was delicious, flavorful, and fresh tasting. The side dishes we had of cheese fries and Mac and cheese were also amazing. The atmosphere was very friendly! They speak excellent English, so we didn't have to bumble our way through. They also had a great selection of beer and cocktails with homemade infused liquors. They even let us have an extra taste of one of their homemade infusions. Excellent place! I highly suggest trying it!

When we arrived in Menton we were told the restaurant had closed down and the property was for sale. We drove to the restaurant anyways and were thrilled to see it was still open by the Pirates son Ricardo who was closing up for the evening. And there was a menu with very reasonable prices. We made reservations for the following Friday for me and my teenage son and daughter. The location by the sea is unbeatable. We parked out front on the street in a reserved spot around 8:30. There was a couple there before us and we could see their shrimp and sardines (a specialty) were on the grill as we walked in. We started with sardines and shrimp, both delicious. My son had the grilled duck leg that was fall off the bone delicious. My lobster was grilled to perfection with an accompaniment of nicely spiced grilled eggplant and red pepper in olive oil. Extremely friendly, the chef took our order of three bottles of rosé wine and the Mixed Grill menu. The Mixed Grill comes with a fresh salad, bread, potatoes, french fries, carrot/onion pancake, a chicken skewer, and steak. Everything was extremely delicious! The only downside was that the chicken was slightly dry. The Mixed Grill comes with a dessert of your choosing. I had the molten chocolate cake which was to die for. All this food for such a great value: one menu is 14.50 Euros! Happy I found this affordable restaurant in a low key environment.
