The sheets and the towels were very clean! Since it was our honeymoon, they send us a white wine to the room along with delicious French chocolate... Yum!!! The staff were very attentive and friendly... Upon our arrival we pre-booked a shuttle to take us to the airport and right at the hour, the shuttle was there with no hassle! The stay included complimentary breakfast and I have to tell you that I enjoyed every bit of it... I haf never seen little individual sized nutella being served! Drlicious bread, fresh fruits, cereal, different jams, pastries, juices, hot drinks, etc..... Everything was delicious!!! The hotel is located very close to the Nation metro station. That means that by just spending about 7.50 euros per day, you would have the luxury of unlimited access to metro service and you can explore the city all day long!!! We loved sitting outside on the stroke of the hour before bedtime watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle beyond the lights of the Arc. We also love grabbing food, bringing it back to the room, and eating it out on the balcony. Air conditioning and hot water work great and kick in quickly. In-room safe is super easy to use. Lobby staff all speak English and are super accommodating. Every employee is friendly, and they even remembered that it was our honeymoon. Oh, but if you don't tell them specifically not to enter your room, they'll clean it even if you leave the Do Not Disturb sign up. Free WiFi. Bed is pretty nice. Entire hotel is very clean. The lift is a little small, but it hasn't broken down once while we were here. It does stop at the floor below and you have to take about 16 steps to the 8th floor, but it's not that bad and I wish I'd just brought our luggage up myself when we got here. One quirky thing about this suite is that it does not have a shower with shower head. It has a bathtub in the middle of the bathroom with a nozzle you have to hold by hand. I knew about the bathtub without the shower based on other reviews and pictures on TripAdvisor, so while it was a hassle for my wife at times (I actually liked it because I never take baths back home), I didn't mind it and we both knew about it coming in. The walls ARE thin. This hasn't really been an issue for us until this morning when our neighbors had guests knocking at 8am and they've been up and about ever since. FYI, as you sleep in the Amelie room, your head is on the opposite side of the wall from the Marie Apartment (I think the couch area). Their door is a couple feet from yours, so when they close their door, it does make a bit of noise. You can hear water running and phones ringing next door as well. Basically, know what to expect before you get here and it'll be fine. I literally told my wife "Well, it seems they did a really good job turning an old apartment building into a pretty nice hotel." Me, I actually like being a little bit away from all the tourists. And no joke, we were deciding between this room and a standard room at a very highly rated hotel that would've been smaller with no view, but which would have come complete with a rainfall shower, larger screen tv, spa tub, and better technologies, top notch shower/shampoo/etc. In the end, I purposely opted for the view plus more space. But I suppose if audio privacy, peace and quiet, and the ability to get your superfreak on without anybody bothering anybody are at the top of your priority list, you should stay elsewhere. I personally just leave the TV on (usually CNN, although there are a few UK channels in English as well) to drown out the noise from other rooms. Other stuff: There's a Metro stop about 100 yards away (with a McD's next to it) and an RER stop about 200 yards away. There's a real nice bakery just across the street north of the hotel which has baguettes, pastries, salads, and sandwiches. We became fond of the Fromagerie on the same corner as the bakery. It's great for getting meats and cheeses for your bread or grabbing juice, water, etc. (We've yet to actually partake in the 20 euro breakfast at the hotel.) There's also a wine store across the street. Within a few blocks of the hotel there is fast food, bistros, restaurants (French, Italian, Thai, Chinese, Moroccan off the top of my head), a fruit store, pharmacy, etc.

The staff was very welcoming, kind and accomodating. The room was small, but very clean, cozy and nicely decorated. We had a garden view & it was way too cute! The bed was comfortable; there were extra blankets available too. AC/heat worked great but we also opened the windows often for some cool fall air. We had to get used to the shower/bath--it had no doors or curtain, just a little glass partition to prevent splashing that swung outward--however we figured it out! Plenty of storage space for clothing/luggage. The breakfast is a must! It is a traditional French breakfast (croissants, french bread, coffee/tea, juice, and yogurt with apple sauce) and is 13€ per person & very much worth it. The location was ideal.. we were but maybe a 3-5 min walk various metro stations/stops and about a 15-20 min walk from the Eiffel Tower. The neighborhood had very good restaurants and shopping all within walking distance! I highly recommend you consider staying here during your visit to Paris, France!

The hotel room was small even by European standards. We had a double bed which was two twins basically put together because there would be no room to walk if they were separated. The air works!! We were in Paris when it was about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It was so incredibly hot but was great to be able to come back to a cool room. The staff was nice and the tax was only about €6. They have a bar in the hotel however we didn't use it. The hotel is located in Bercy Village. It is about a €50 taxi ride from Orly Airport. Bercy Village is a great area with restaurants, shops, bakeries, a movie theater and gym. It is very lively at night and feels safe. The hotel is about a 3-5 minute walk to the center. The metro is also about a 5 minute walk. I would definitely stay at this hotel again!!

The metro station is a about a 5 minute walk down the street and you can easily get to all the attractions from the metro station with only one transfer. Since it is Paris the rooms are very small, there isn't much walking room although most people don't go to Paris to sit in a hotel room. The bathroom was also very small specifically the shower. The air conditioning was probably the best I experienced in my 11 days in Europe. It was the only air conditioning that you could actually feel blowing and the room got very cold. I loved it! After being out most of the day it was great to come back to a nice cool room especially since it was almost 100 degrees Fahrenheit when were were there. The wifi was great at this hotel. I was able to skype back home with no problems. The staff were friendly although we didn't interact with the staff much. The location in Bercy Village was very nice. Just a short walk away is all sorts of shops, restaurants bakeries and a movie theater. There is something for everyone. The taxi ride from Orly airport was quick and was about $35 euro. Overall I had a good experience and wouldn't hesitate to stay again if I came back to Paris.

The bathroom also had a blow dryer, which was an awesome perk. We saw that they served breakfast every morning although we didn't try it. The room/hotel proved to be undesirable when we saw it in person, and we walked into the Grand Hotel Malher (GHM) to inquire about a room. GHM had no room available for us the night of September 14, but the GHM clerk said there were possible rooms for us beginning September 15. It was late and we needed a place to stay. The GHM clerk charged my credit card 350 euros at 9:06 p.m. on September 14 after insisting that I needed to pay in advance to reserve a room beginning September 15. I'd asked him not to charge my card yet because GHM had no room available for us that night, September 14, and because my wife was in the process of trying to secure a room for us at another hotel (via her mobile phone). My wife secured a room at another hotel and I let the GHM clerk know that we were no longer in need of a room at GHM. However, the clerk had just charged my credit card for the night of September 15. He consulted with a woman associate who said they would need a manager's authorization to refund the 350 euros charged to my credit card. They asked and I confirmed with strong assurances that my wife and I had no need for a room at GHM. The entire process took maybe 15 minutes. We would have considered staying at GH Mahler if we'd not been able to secure a room at another hotel for our entire stay. But there were other indications that perhaps GHM was not the best place to stay: vomit in the elevator; another guest's malfunctioning room card; the GHM clerk telling us that a double room would be available and then telling us that it wouldn't be available and that only a more expensive triple room was available. The GHM clerk seemed like a very nice person and our experience with GHM would have been pleasant if not for their refusal to refund the 350 euros which, under the circumstances, would be the reasonable and sensible thing to do.
