Awesome wine shop. Visited three times in my week in Paris and the guy never made a bad recommendation.

Kahlúa coffee liqueur: As a coffee lover it's only natural that I would also enjoy a coffee…read moreflavored alcoholic beverage. It's mind boggling how many different coffee liqueurs exist with the popularity of coffee, but probably the most well-known is Kahlúa. Since 1936 they've been making their version of coffee liqueur using 100% Arabica coffee beans and rum. It is no easy feat producing a bottle as it can take up to seven years. This is primarily because it takes upwards of six years to get the perfect beans as the coffee trees for Kahlúa are grown in the shade instead of the sun. After the beans are harvested it takes another six months for them to dry. While all this is happening, the rum is made by extracting sugarcane juice, which is boiled and mixed with water. Lastly, the beans and rum come together at the distillery. It is there that the coffee beans are roasted and then rest with the rum for four weeks before ultimately being bottled. Kahlúa has a somewhat alcohol forward taste, but it's also smooth, sweet, and packing a heavenly coffee flavor. This is not a bitter coffee or espresso liqueur, meaning if you are after a liqueur that reminds you of a bitter black cup, this might not be for you. Thankfully the caffeine content is almost nil as I like to drink as an end of the week night cap. I can recommend using it in an espresso martini, on the rocks, or my favorite, a White Russian.
