I find the prices are good, and you get lots of the product - but you have to note the grams that you are paying for to realize the amount. I am a fan of the "surprise", "not so pretty", and "misfit" products. Most of the products that aren't fruits/veggies, I do find quite expensive, however I like to use Lufa for their fresh produce so it doesn't really impact me... though knowing these other products are Canadian makes up for it I think. read more

i just got my first delivery box, everything was fresh and delicious and the bags the vegetables came in were compostable, the ones that were from rooftop gardening. The only thing was they changed the delivery location the last minute and I was lucky someone else came early so I followed them to the right location. My advice, take your cell with you so you can get updates for last minute delivery. I recommend them. Better than the store for freshness and taste. The first time I tried Lufa's baskets was probably close to ten years ago when they started out. I really couldn't afford the food and only did a couple months of their pseudo-CSA basket but I found the quality of the veg to be terrific. Time went by and their service expanded to basically full locavore grocery fare. While I had friends who had gone organic rave about the service, I was also hearing some total horror stories about how the staff were treated at the greenhouses. I stayed away. In more recent times I've been hearing more reassuring tales of Lufa (i.e. higher staff retention rates). That being said, the horror tales of yore have yet to be dispelled. Under COVID circumstances I decided to give it another stab: I was desperate for veg that didn't suck. To be honest, the experience has been varied so far. The most important detail: our delivery guy showed up at 11:15pm, I asked him how his day went, and he looked at me and said "this is my first day and my last." Hmmm. Not reassuring. But allow me to focus on the food: the fact of the matter is, it's still quite expensive but it's good. The vegetables taste like they should and even the 'ugly' vegetables are gorgeous by any mtl grocery store standard. The pantry fare is the nice organic stuff, which will set you back a lot normally anyways. I really appreciate that they deliver and I really like their hardcore eco standards. The verdict: the food is as terrific as ever but I'm not convinced they're upholding similar standards for their staff. Sustainability is also about social sustainability; to me, if you're treating your people like garbage your eco standards mean very little. read more

I signed up recently for a Lufa farm delivery box. It's a local urban farm that grows produce on rooftop greenhouses and partners with local farmers, small businesses such as bakeries, butchers etc. It's a wonderful idea and 5 stars for the concept. Delivery and products have been a little uneven though, 3.5-4 stars. I'm cutting small businesses a lot of slack these days under the current circumstances. Some of the produce I got wasn't fresh and had to go straight to compost, and some things were left out of my order. To give them credit, they were very quick to respond to any complaints and to credit my account for the items. Nice selection of products, I've enjoyed trying some different items. My favourites are salads from Food Chain and baked goods from Hof Kelsten. They often throw in a free gift if you spend over a certain amount, this week I got a box of local strawberries, which is a nice touch. Love that they try to use minimal waste packaging, things are delivered in reusable baskets and a lot of their packaging is compostable. It's pricier for a lot of things than you might pay in the grocery store, but worth it to support local businesses and farmers. read more

These guys were swarmed during the peak of the pandemic. I was able to become a member but was then added to the waitlist but have since been re-enlisted. For $5 it's a great deal for delivery. If you have any issue with anything delivered, send a message to the customer service person assigned to you and no questions asked you're refunded for that product. You also get a free gift for purchases over $75. In addition to fruits and veggies they have specialty sauces, specialty cheeses, fresh pastas, baked goods etc. My top favorites at the moment are: Angus Beef stewing cubes Organic spaghetti St-Viateur Bagels Boulangerie St-Méthod bread Fermes Marcello home made ketchup Cilantro, Lime & Jalapeno Pesto Parmesan Cajou Cashew L'Affine manaite Ready-to-Bake Blueberry Pie (frozen) [Boulangerie Le Caveau] My all time favorite is the frozen blueberry pie and it's only $8.75. I would sign up just for the pie. Another cool thing you don't get with standard IGA/Metro delivery is they actually keep cold items in a cooler with ice and you can buy many meats frozen. How delivery works: you get a bin delivered to your place. You can either remove the items from the bins into your own bags while the delivery person waits or you can just take the bin and return the bin upon the next delivery. They also have pickup points all around Montreal so you can pick up your order and bypass the $5 delivery fee. read more

Just like many other people, according to other reviews I have read, I was charged a basket I did not order, want nor confirmed at any point. Unsubscribing Is suspiciously difficult to achieve. I am a website developer and so I know this was intentional to give people a hard time to unsubscribe, very dishonest and a sad, desperate move. It's strangely much easier to re subscribe than it is to cancel. It's also impossible to remove a credit card from an account which should be illegal. To unsubscribe, you can't find it in your profile, you go in the help section, you find the cancel section, they tell you you have to call a representative to cancel or you can do it yourself by going in your settings but it's more complicated than that. You have to go to your settings, find the well hidden "edit account settings" find the cancel button, then the two options are extremely ambiguous, the one button that's to cancel the cancelation looks like a confirmation button, and the button that is to proceed with the cancelation looks like the "nevermnind" button and that's not even the last step to the cancelation. To resubscribe, you only have to click the very obvious link at the top of your profile. I have contacted l'Office de la protection du consommateur and I Have yet to get a response. Once I do I will update this review. I do not recommend lufa farms unless you're into sketchy credit card charges. read more

I was so happy I got the chance to visit Lufa Farms sewing that I've been a member for over a year now and have never been disappointed with the service or quality of their products. All their veggies are grown on rooftops around Montreal, and they partner up with local farms and artisans to offer fresh, local and sustainable products. Although I've tried other companies that offer the same services, what I like about Lufa is that you can customize your basket. Most others will deliver what they have available so you make do with what you get. At Lufa, I can plan ahead for the week and pick my products just like in a grocery store. I pick up my basket from a drop point nearby, although they do offer home delivery, and voila! Their service is awesome too, with notifications of a late delivery, and reimbursement for products you've received that may have been damaged; which only happened once when my chocolate cake from Arjuna got squished; I ate it anyways You can add everything from meat to sweets, bread and jams too, so you are really not limited. I especially like that most of their products are sustainable harvest and offer a great variety of organic products. My visit at one of their locations made me appreciate the work that goes behind packing my basket weekly. During my visit, I also got to take a pumpkin home as a thank you. read more

The service itself auto selects your basket worth $30, however you have 72 hours to add/remove as you wish, so long as your order is at minimum $15. From my experience the auto $30 basked doesn't give you bang for your buck. My personal tricks include heading right to the "deals" section, and always grabbing the $4.50 "not so pretty but quite tasty" random veggies. For the same price as the grocery store I got insanely better produce delivered practically to my door (my pickup point is the dep across from home). I just got my first Lufa delivery and it could not have gone better. As a frugal shopper I already do my groceries based on whats on sale that week and Lufa has specials that run weekly as well as a few basket freebies. Although some items in the marketplace are significantly more expensive, you can shop Lufa intelligently and get a great deal. All my groceries this week costed me the same, if not less than at my local grocery store (except my free range eggs that aren't even available at a grocery store by me - sadly as someone who used to have farm fresh eggs these ones were not up to par). Lufa Farms I bought a medium size turkey for the holiday and before my order was shipped i received an email with a price adjustment showing that you were shipping me a small turkey. I then called the customer service, no response left a voicemail also sent an email to the agent in service no answer. I received the turkey which again is too small for the entire family for christmas. I called again the next day and someone called me back in the afternoon leaving me a voicemail to tell me sorry but that is what it is. Obviously i called back, nobody answered and left a voicemail saying i was not satisfied with that supposed solution to my issue. I received an email saying a supervisor would called me. Which she did to tell me 7 times in total that the vendor did not send the right size of turkey which happens, so i suggested to that perpsn that instead of assuming what a customer would want to buy with their money that a call should be made to confirm with the customer if they still want the product which was over 2.5 pounds smaller. I was told she could graciously give me 5$ rebate towards the delivery fee so i buy another turkey.... I was speechless, by again a non solution, i offered the turkey back but was told no its at my house they cannot take it back so i need to pay for a product i dont want. I told the supervisor that again i was not datisfied with the solution given to me, 10$ credit was offered, again that is not what i am requesting. I do not want the product i do not want to pay for the product i did not ordered. Again i was told it would be escalated to someone else and i would receive a call back in the afternoon, which i did not received. I love love love the philosophy behind this company and support it wholeheartedly. This is a local montreal based business that grows some of its own produce on rooftop gardens, and also providing sustainably sourced groceries. My roommate first introduced me to this company and I was amazed. They offer pretty much anything you need on their online store, from fruit to veggies to baked goods, dairy, meats, ready made meals, and more. They even have some gardening and household supplies. I used to order soil from them for about a dollar but it doesnt seem to be available anymore sadly. There is a subscription service available but usually i just add a box when I need one. Delivery is 5 dollars or you can select a pickup point, and there are tons all over montreal. I havent had any major issues with delivery, apart from sometimes getting produce with flaws, but I guess that's just a part of it. I wish they had more gardening supplies available and a bigger variety of vegetables. I also think it would be great if they had more "off cuts" of meat available, like liver, heart, or tripe. Not worth it!....Products are way overpriced and the amount of some of the product I received was too small and of poor quality. For example, I paid $2.75 for green onions ( I received about 3 or 4 thin spindly onions) that were folded up in plastic bags and were all bruised and shriveled up. I paid $2.75 for a bunch of rainbow chard and received a tiny, limp, shriveled up bit of chard that wasn't even edible...I ended up throwing it out! A head of lettuce was barely enough for two people and I paid $3.00 for a package of mushrooms that I could have gotten for $2.47 on sale at any of the big chain grocery stores. The amount of produce I received was laughable...it was barely enough to feed myself let alone my family. I've tried to cancel my subscription but their system won't allow me because when I try it says I have not returned a basket or I have an outstanding balance. I never took a basket, I left it with the pick-up location so how can I return what I don't have? My account even shows that I have no outstanding baskets to return. As for the outstanding balance, I was charged .31 cents extra on the only order I placed because something they sent me weighed more than what they originally charged me. When I try to cancel, it says any outstanding balance will be charged to my credit card, but when I get to the end it tells me I can't cancel because I have an outstanding balance. So frustrating!!!! I have left a phone message with 2 separate CS reps and sent an email to a 3rd. No one ever picks up and no one has gotten back to me. I even called at 4:00 p.m. on a Saturday because my account states that one of my CS reps is there from 9 - 5 but when I called it tells me the offices are now closed. Horrible customer service! I paid for delivery and got email that my boxes were delivered, but nobody brought them at my place. I called Sami driver who insulted me and told me that he gave my boxes to a woman. I panicked and told him to go fast to pick my boxes because my hlm neighbours steal and have stolen my parcels. He hung up at me. After 10 weeks in, and after a total spent of $2,700 ($270 per week), we only had one time of good service, in other words: no missing items, no damaged items, clean crates, polite delivery person, reachable customer service with 24hrs. This week and the cherry on the cake, the order was simply not delivered because of a credit card issue. We got an obscure email way too late to even know and react to the fact that our weekly FOOD supply would not be at our door. No phone call, just an obscure and late email. The concept is wonderful-the execution has such deep flores it fails to live up to expectations. My credit card was cancelled overnight for fraud by the CC co., and the order was cancelled. We have been very good customers however they seem content to trash a viable relationship in a very crude and deeply unprofessional fashion, lacking any trust in their partner customers or any ability to profile an address and a customer relationship to protect $43. I wonder if they undertstand how much it's costs them to recruit regular and reliable customers like us and the friends i have recommended to use their services. You get fresh and varied vegetables in a basket on a weekly basis but I'm not sure of the price. We have been ordering on and off now from Lufa Farms for a few years. I say on and off because generally it was supposed to be good for everyone. Unfortunately, about every third order comes with smashed yogurt or milk bottles or containers and I find myself doing the job of cleaning the bin, and throwing away what was very expensive and good yogurts and milk. Like clockwork, my order arrived today and two out of 3 yogurts are smashed and all over everything else in the box. I dont think we will be going back. They charged me while I'm still on vacation mode and don't want to refund. Alright, so a couple weeks back I visited Lufa farms with Yelp. Back then the people (sales, I suspect) were nice and blablabla, brainwashing us with their ideals while we ate their average tasting produce (that's not even cheap btw). And somewhere in that mess, they managed to convince me to sign up in their weekly program, where they charge customers a basket of food with a minimum worth of 30$ (yes, 30$ of food every week). And since I'm on the other side of the planet, I put myself into their vacation mode (so they stop their service during that time). Well those kids charged me nevertheless (while and still on vacation), without even first sending an e-mail for me to update my basket (as their protocol says). So now, I paid 30$ and got a basket of randomly selected produce, while still some 12,000km from home. .... I got a relative to call them and cancel the latest payment, but what happened is they insisted on cancelling my account, with no refund. I guess the minimal 1-star for this review goes to my mom who gets to keep the basket, so at least food is not wasted. No but seriously, what kind of a crappy service/system/business is this? They talk as if they were serving better produce and they're all about being green, local and what not when they can't even make their basic features work. I am hooked! I got my second weekly basket from Lufa Farms yesterday. I couldn't be happier, I ordered veggies, fruits and vegan baked goods. There is a pick up location two blocks away from my place at a boucherie, they are always friendly there. The produce is very well organized in the box, all really fresh and well packaged. The price is fair. You can choose what you want in your box online, pay with debit or credit card and be sure it will be at the pick up location at the time and day that was scheduled. So far, I think they have an excellent business practice going on. It is always good to support local businesses! read more

Signed up for Lufa last year because I love good tomatoes and their tomatoes are outstanding even during the coldest winter days. I should try to summarize my feelings in some simple way. These feelings were somewhat mixed, when I had to pickup my basket in my neighborhood and as the winter advanced some of the produce was delivered obviously frozen. Regardless of that I love the concept of locally produced fresh vegetables, the existing distribution channels for variety of food producers and growers from Quebec, the amount of biological options to pick from. The business model is smart and I appreciated the delivery is done with electrical vehicles. Then came the covid lock down and the Lufa team faced a major challenge to deliver, and did they not. Yes, they had some hiccups, I had a cancelled basket, maybe some people had other issues, but overall and in the end Lufa was up and running within short period of time and I really appreciate the hard work they put to into reorganizing their business. Now I get a weekly home delivery of the very same amazing tomatoes, fresh crispy green salads and many more essential to our well being products. Well done and well deserved five stars! read more

The place: Well, it's not generally open to the public so you won't be shopping there. This is where Lufa has its rooftop gardens as well as its distribution center. I stopped in for their open house and took a quick tour of the place to see where my goodies come from. The place is very clean and super organized. I like efficiency. The goods: Locally sourced/grown fruits and vegetables + products from a few of their partners. Each week you select items for your basket then pick them up on your designated day, at your pick-up point. Thus far, I've only received one basket and I'm very happy with what I got. Fresh vegetables, pasta, bread - everything is delicious. Their stuff is seasonal so the variety changes as as result. Some of their partners include Mamie Clafoutis, Le Fromentier and Antabli - all of whom I am loving right now. Service: First, they're very quick to respond to queries on email. You are notified as soon as the marketplace is open, and if, when they prepare your order, an item isn't available, they notify you via email to let you know that your account's been credited the amount of the item(s) in question. After you receive your first basket, you'll also get an email asking you if you're happy with it. I got the email the day after I picked up my basket - I provided mainly positive feedback, with the exception of one item, that disappointed me. That same day, I was credited for that item. I very much appreciate the high level of customer service and the fact that they honor their 'freshness' guarantee. Price point: The minimum you have to spend is $15 but your default basket is always filled with $30 worth of goods (so you basically make any adjustments you want to make before the marketplace closes and you'll be billed on your delivery day for the amount you spent). Considering the quality and freshness of the items, and that Lufa delivers to a pick-up point near you AND they don't tax you, I think the price point is good. Just received our first veggie basket of our season. We decided to go with the 30$ pay as you go subscription. We received a good selection of Tomatoes, a pepper, Garlic Scapes, fresh Garlic, young sweet Corn, and the biggest Zucchini I have ever seen. I really like the idea of Lufa -- their greenhouses using passive energy from factories below, hyper-local, partnerships with local farms... And I must say, delicious fresh QC strawberries in February really really made my day. My month, really. However, our experience of being their customer has been hit-and-miss. Prices go WAY up in the winter (and they are quite high to begin with). Portion sizes are not generous (we often get three little tomatoes in the bottom of a quart box). And I don't know if it's because our pick-up day is Friday, but even if I go online the minute the market opens, many basic fruits and veg are often sold out. On the plus side, there are more and more partnerships with local producers and it's lovely to be able to add some grocery items to our order. We don't have any CSAs which deliver to our neighbourhood so Lufa is our only local option. We are glad to have it. read more

Lufa baskets are an interesting concept, part CSA and part grocery delivery, they merge the best of both. And as a city dweller, apart from the few herbs, tomatoes and peppers I grow on my balcony, its hard to get more local than the produce Lufa grows in their rooftop greenhouses. Although I belong to a traditional CSA, I also subscribe to Lufa so that I don't have to go without local produce during the months when nothing grows outside. Their pay as you go format, along with being able to indicate multiple "vacation" weeks means I can choose when to get a basket. On top of that, you get to customise the individual items. Something else great about Lufa is that they have a lot of drop off points, with reasonable pick up times. Overall Lufa is an excellent service and Montrealers are lucky to be able to take advantage. read more

This enterprise has a great mission but fails at its execution . Worse than this , their customer service is non existent. Emailed them 4 times left two phone messages ,no response . Will never deal with them again. read more
