Both were good. These had been preceded by a mini pumpkin/pistachio soup appetizer. Yummy. Our mains were both pork cheeks braised in pinot noir. This was our first time eating cheeks. Wow, they were amazingly tender and good! Elizabeth, the server/owner, told us her husband (the chef) had aged the meat for at least a week and marinated in pinot. They were simply fantastic. Maybe I'm glad they had run out of the other main of jambon choucrutte! Dessert was an apple tarte that was sort of custardy. It was very, very good. We finished off with their homemade cherry liqueur steeped for 9-12 months with sour cherries.

She suggested an aperitif for all of us, and chose wines for our appetizer and entree choices. She was so welcoming! But the food...I can't even put it into words. The second time, half the party had la tete de veau. My uncle said it was the best he'd ever had. One person had the gratinee with jambon, which was to die for. Their crispy duck-fat potatoes are delightful. The staff were friendly and welcoming with a leisurely pace that fit our vacation pace. I would definitely make this a regular.

Our stay was literally 500 feet from the restaurant so we totally lucked out! It's a tiny restaurant with only about 10 tables. It was full of Germans and even the one woman server seemed German but spoke delightful French and she was also very friendly and helpful with the menu. Alsacienne food is served here which is more of a German twist. The wines are inexpensive, blanc, and more on the sweeter side - delicious paired with food. My salad was amazing and huge. Lettuce was topped with juicy pieces of grilled chicken, sweetest tomatoes, apples, almonds, and amazing deep fried croutons. Why can't they do this all over France? Husband's starter was the omelette and salad. The buttery omelette was decadent and had generous bits of bacon. YUM! The entree was choucroute (saurkraut - a must have in this area) topped with pork belly, ham, bratwurst, sausage, potatoe and a dallop of mustard. We were there on a cold night. Inside it was also cold. Many customers had their jackets on; I finally put mine on about half way through the meal. The chairs were most uncomfortable! Both my wife and noticed how bad the seating was - the chairs kinda made you lean forward; they were most unpleasant. I'd eat here again but would NOT eat inside sitting on the uncomfortable chairs. If inside were the only choice we'd walk on by and find somewhere else.
