This is a great little hidden spot on a hidden street that's worth the effort to find. It's a sliver of a long rectangular room with tables a one Euro coin's distance from each other. When you look down the row of two tops hugging the wall it looks like Monk's chow call in a Monastery. There is also a small dining room in the back just in front of the large windowed kitchen where you can watch the magic being made. The Decor: There is the requisite few French kitchen things sprinkled around for along with a print or two hung here and there. I suspect this old place has had many iterations before Les Adrets claimed it. Three set menus are offered (the most expensive of which is 46.50 Euros), and there is basically one seating. Be advised that the place is jammed from the opening bell at 7:00 PM. Settle into your table which is no bigger than a Mini Cooper's boot. Voila, the menu and your Amuse-Bouche arrive in a flash. A shot of Fish Custard laced with bits of Smoked Salmon and some Salmon Tartar as well, topped with tangy Mulberries. It had the consistency of Burma Shave, but the taste was a wonderful treat and easily the best rendition of this dish you'll find between Lyon and Normandy. Maybe make that between LA and Normandy. The Staff: It was a bit tense as the aloof and distant hostess furtively searched for me in the Reservation Book. I'm not sure she ever did find me, but I made puppy eyes and sad shoulders and once she realized my French was as non-existent as her English she warmed up like an electric blanket and cared for me like a new boyfriend. I was assigned to my postage stamp table and given to the care of two sweet young ladies who moved quicker than sign-ups for advanced Spin Class. The Vibe: Who goes there? No Fodor flunkies or anyone toting a Rick Steve's version of the Bible. All locals and not a lick of the King's English could be heard. Only me smiling and mumbling Merci, which sounded more like mercy. The Kir Mure (Blackberry) was as sweet and refreshing as that special one sitting next to you in Social Studies who said yes to you. The Food: Oh, the food. In one word...absolutely terrific. (Okay, that's two words, but both appropriate). The Soft Egg with Trout Tartar was settled on a bed of Baby Black Rocket garnished with Wild Mushrooms in a Mushroom Cream dotted with Nigella (Black Sesame). Doesn't that sound delish? Twas, my Yelper friends. It leaves you with the same afterglow from a perfect date, maybe a better one as the dish will be exactly the same next time you dine here whereas that perfect date may well be no more comfortable and exciting as a bedroom slipper. Next, try the Boudin Noir (Blood Sausage) paired with St. Jacques (Scallops, to you), seared just right to keep their sea born integrity. It was all arranged on a Beet Puree with Granny Smith Apples and Wasabi Foam all colorfully arranged in a beautiful design like a Navaho Sand Painting. Often, Scallops are racquet balls providing an all day chew. Not here. Paired with an expertly crafted Blood Sausage it should not be missed by food lovers or Vampires. While you are enjoying the last two courses you will be treated to a bottomless basket of Country French and/or Walnut Bread, still warm for the baker's loving touch. And then out of the blue, (the kitchen) comes a Lemon Mint Sorbet to freshen the palate. Unexpected in a small Bistro and oh so delightful. How about a Dos de Cabillaud, Craquelin de Noisette with Pesto de Roquette? (Cod Fillet covered by an awning of a Hazelnut Cracker, and and topped with a melange of Vegetables...Sundried Tomato, Celery Spears, Onion, Snap Peas, and Apple slivers cuddled up to a hill of Mashed Potatoes and all moored securely in a lake of Arugula Pesto). Now, how about that? The Cod was as thick as your fist and as big as your iPhone 8. It was beyond moist, translucent, and transcendent. This dish was really well thought out and executed. Everything had purpose (other than clearing out the walk-in). Everything on the plate brought something essential to the party and this simply should be ordered. Period. Ron W. hath spake! Oh my God, what a Cod. The Cheese course, of course, was waiting in the wings. "Dry or Salty"? asked the server, which best describes a conference of Navy Vets. Salty was a creamy cup of Chive infused Fromage Blanc. Dry was just what the doctor ordered (actually he ordered me not to eat cheese, but who cares what an old quack suggests when it's this good?) I met an old friend, Reblochon and made two new ones. Picodon (my new CFF...cheese favorite forever), and a Forme d'Amber that wanted to be as blue as you for missing this place. Finally, for those who's tummy has been stretched to the size of a VW car cover, have the Nouget Glace au Miel et Creme du Marron. (Nouget Ice Cream with Honey and Chestnut Cream buried in Toffee Bits. Decadent? Heaven sent, I think. You will not soon forget Les Adrets. read more

I'm obsessed with this restaurant. Such a lovely cozy atmosphere, homemade food presented beautifully, unique experience. Had some of the best French food, I mean Lyonnase food. We originally made dinner reservations for Thursday, but decided to stop for lunch since we were exploring that area. So glad we did. Apparently all the locals know about the secret which is dining for lunch. They have a special set lunch menu that changes daily. For €18,50 you can choose between two starters, two entrees, a cheese or a dessert, this includes wine and cafe. This was such an incredible lunch, the quality and creativity was out of this world. Our server was so wonderful, she was very kind and helpful. We were very happy with everything we ordered. I highly recommend this restaurant to all. It would be wise to make a reservation for lunch or dinner. If you plan on showing up without reservations then it'd be wise to arrive at least five minutes before they open the door. It was a full house at lunch. We were the token American tourists. Fun tip: goto the restroom, I know that sounds weird. This has a unique passage to the actual bathroom. You'll enter a tiny slanted Alice in Wonderland door, ascend a stone fairytale spiral staircase and find a gorgeous marble sink and finally the sparkling clean toilets. read more

Great ambience. We had a prebooking, so were seated quite quickly. I suggest making a reservation. Great ambience. Ordered spinach soup, scallop and chocolate with ice cream dessert. Spinach soup tasted to perfection. Lightly creamed with pieces of croutons, basil and bacon. Ham was served on side which I didn't eat. Perfect spinach flavor with basil essence. Scallop were cooked to its best taste. Served with squash puree, snap peas, mushrooms. Dessert tested yummy- cool minty ice cream over chocolate cake. One less star for little less attentive service. Our next stop on our trip was Lyon, France. We were excited to try Lyonnaise cuisine and hoped to get into Les Adrets without a reservation. The restaurant is small and we actually walked by it without realizing. Lucky for us, they took us right away! We opted to do their prix fixe option to try a bit of everything. Our waiter recommended a delicious Beaujolais wine to go with our meal. Marbré de harengs, pomme charlotte et saumon fumé | Marbled herring, potatoes, and smoked salmon. -I was hesitant for the first course, as I don't usually like smoked salmon. However, this dish was delicious and the smoky flavor was just enough. I especially liked the caviar and olive sides they provided to enhance the flavor. Soufflé de dorade, crème d'écrevisses | Fish souffle with seafood sauce. -I cannot even describe the texture of this dish. As an avid watcher of anything food related on television, you always hear about the correct texture of soufflé. Firm enough to hold shape but soft enough that a fork can simply slide through it. This was exactly that with the most succulent seafood sauce. Perfection! Assiette Gourmande -Assorted desserts including a praline tart (that's the red one and is special to Lyon), a lush chocolate cake with cream, pistachio crème brûlée, a honey cake, and Marscapone gelato. I'm not a sweets person but these were wonderful, especially the chocolate cake. So happy we got to experience Les Adrets! read more

Excellent local favourite spot. Went here based on a recommendation and was not disappointed. The meal and service was the best I have had in almost 20 years. I can not recommend his place enough - a must attend. Be sure to visit the bathrooms while here, it's like finding a secret passageway. Truly a Lyon experience. read more

I almost didn't want to review this restaurant being too afraid everyone will know this little gem in the Vieux-Lyon (the old neighborhood of Lyon) and will go there. But it would be selfish to hide this good address! Very charming inside, efficient service and a lunch menu that is the best quality/price I have found in Lyon so far (Ok, I have not tried all the restaurants... yet but quite a few!). For 15euros, you'll have appetizer/entree/dessert and wine! The cuisine is fresh, a delightful mix of classic and slightly creative, and it is really tasty... The only thing if you are going there for lunch is that you'll have only the choice of the menu (no a la carte other options)- so have a look to the "menu du jour" and then go ahead for a great experience! read more

Had the set meal and a bottle of Sarget. The place is in the old city and very charming. Kitchen is adjoined to the restaurant so you can see the food being cooked if you look over. Excellent restaurant! Service is great, the food is absolutely fantastic!!! The plates are unique and tasty, also the presentation makes you want to admire it before eating... It's a true gourmet experience! But my review would not be completed if I didn't mention the washroom. You need to go there, it's freaking awesome! First it is old as hell and the first door looks like it is going to fall apart at anytime and it was originally designed for small people. When you enter you actually have to go into a spiral staircase that gives you access to other people apartments?!? Finally the washroom is like one of those apartments... Old school decor. Cold excruciatingly slow service. All dishes we tried were underwhelming, and very expensive. Everything might be made from scratch, but it was always about drowing it in heavy cream. And they wanted to be original, but some dishes were plain weird: an amuse bouche was a clam chowder topped with sweet chestnut cream, another one was lime sorbet with szechuan peppercorn (could have been nice but the peppercorns were overwhelming and everybody was spitting out the outer shell... ridiculous). On the plus side, a very nice glass of Viognier for Eu 3.50 = Great! For the price, we expected to be blown away and it turned out to be the worst meal of our stay in Lyon. read more

Ate at Les Adrets for lunch. It's a popular spot for locals as many costumers filed in between 12-1:30pm. I think they have a "special" spot reserved for those with no reservations, which is where we sat- near the entrance, haha. The price fixed lunch had its ups and downs. Appetizers of pumpkin soup and fried fish balls were delicious. (The pumpkin soup is a must!) The main plats were just alright- you had the choice of white fish or beef. The fish, served in a creamy sauce, was a little too sweet for my taste and the beef was a little too chewy and bland for my husband's taste. The dessert was delicious, I especially liked their raspberry sorbet. Be sure to get there within that lunch time frame because it does get busy! read more

This was my second visit to the highly regarded Lyon Bouchon. I was so excited to take my friend as I had visited in December 2017 and had an amazing experience. We made reservations while waiting for our flight from Heathrow the day before we arrived. Featured is a three-course meal for lunch at a reasonable price. Today, while we were eating our starters: eggs and the tiniest oysters I have ever seen for me and sausage and green lentils for my companion, we were asked for the second time if we had reservations. For the main, my friend ordered the salmon, which was served skin-side-up, but without the skin, but with the gray fat layer prominently displayed. We thought it was odd, but shrugged it off until a) my friend realized it was incredibly salty and b) the table next to ours was served salmon with beautiful crispy skin side up. We did not complain, but had to wonder how a restaurant with such a stellar reputation would send this inedible dish to the table. read more
