Thank you Le Bouchon des Filles because I cannot forget the delicious quenelle and veal I've had. We ordered the €30 fix priced menu and had the option to choose our entrees. We picked the Fish quenelle and veal. We also ordered the fish herring. The fish Quennelle was made so well that you can taste the freshness of the fish used and the sauce that was similar to a subtle lobster bisque. The veal was delicious and was served in a white sauce with hinds of wine. The service was impeccable and had one of the best services while in France. We came to visit Lyon and did research for great dining establishments. This one lived up to its reputation and more. Service was excellent, food was amazing, price was incredible for the amazing food. It's a fixed menu but with your choice of entree and desert. They chose the starters which were three different type of salads. Also with wonderful bread. All excellent. They brought a little cauliflower soup taste to cleanse the pallet. We chose the fish as one dish and the sausage as another. Both amazing. Then the tough part. What to choose for desert as you each get one. We watched the table next to us and got some ideas. We went for as we joked death by chocolate and two different chocolate type deserts. One was a type of cake and the other was a mousse pear combination. The mousse was our favorite but the cake was excellent. No rush on pushing you out like places in the states. We had fun talking to the tables on either side. If we come back sometime will be on our list. Thanks for a wonderful evening, we even used our translator as our French isn't very good to tell our waiter is was the best meal in a long time. read more

Lovely little joint with lovely hearty tradition bourbon style food! Choice is simple, you all have a set menu €26, 4 course, and all you need to do is to choose your main. We had a traditional sausage and beef tribes. Now those who haven't had it would thought sausage is the safe choice (since everything else is in French and you just have no clue), but you are wrong as traditional lyonnaise sausage is made up with intestines too, that said if you are game for it, it's a lovely dish! The beef tribe was awesome and was my favourite dish! Well cooked, lovely texture and good flavour! Love the "Banana Splits revisited" dessert! All in all, good value and decent food! Only fault, ppl really don't speak English here, and they struggled to understand my Aussie accent when I ask for a house red, which I gave up in the end... read more

We brought some visitors here, looking for a typical Lyonnais bouchon away from the touristy old part of town. Unfortunately the restaurant had allowed a large and extremely noisy group of Italians to reserve most of the table space in the restaurant. The noise, which I measured at 85 dB, was so painfully loud that conversing with our friends was impossible. Really, the restaurant should have made this a private event and not allowed other guests to book tables. As for the food, it was just mediocre, nothing special. When it's the last day of a fantastic two-week visit to France, and you're in Lyon, the country's culinary capital, and you fancy yourself a bit of a connoisseur who doesn't want to be disappointed, you have a real challenge on your hands when it comes to choosing a restaurant. Add to that the fact that it's Monday, when so many places seem to be closed, and your challenge is even greater. Fortunately for us, a reliable friend suggested (nay, insisted) that we visit this bouchon for our last dinner in France, and not wanting to upset him, and trusting his opinion implicitly, we phoned them up and got ourselves a table. When we arrived we were struck by several things--the small size of the establishment; the youth of the several young women who run the place; the limited menu; the low prices of the wines. We were also struck by how empty it was, since we were the first to arrive for dinner, just as they opened at 7pm. But before even ten minutes were up, the place was half-full, and before long, it was packed, and many people were turned away at the door who hadn't had the presence of mind to book in advance. As mentioned above the menu is small. In addition, they only do a "formule", comprising a salad course (which has no choices to be made) followed by a main, cheese and dessert, all for €27. As we sat down we were given a little amuse bouche, which I have to say was the one disappointment of the meal, being too dry and hard to swallow and not having much taste, but it was the one misstep of the evening. The salad course consisted of three dishes--a delightfully mustardy lentil salad; herring with tzatziki; and a cold terrine of eggplant with a tomato sauce on the side. When they were delivered to us, the server explained what they were so incredibly quickly that I could not follow it at all--it was only when we heard her explain it to a neighbouring table, and in English, that I picked up some of it (she spoke quickly in English, too), but I asked her again what it was and she patiently explained it again. For our mains, there were several choices to choose from and we chose the onglet with new potatoes for one of us, and the boudin with apples and herb salad. The onglet was cooked perfectly and had exquisite flavour, as did the potatoes accompanying it. But the boudin was something else--delicious black pudding in a filo pastry with apples and topped with a salad with parsley and other herbs. It was a great way to make a rather humble item--black pudding--into something elevated, and I enjoyed it immensely. Dessert was perhaps a bit less outstanding than the rest of the meal, though that's not to say that it was not good. But the choices were not as interesting to us (we have grown a bit tired of molten chocolate cake and sorbet) so we stuck to two items that were a bit different--lime cheesecake on the one hand, and "dessert à la praline" on the other. The former was fairly straightforward, with a bit of chestnut cream on top for good measure, while the latter was (to me) more interesting, a kind of semifreddo with red fruits and with praline mixed in, served with red fruit coulis. To go with our meal, we ordered a 'pot' of Crozes-Hermitage wine, which seemed a good buy at €14.50 and went very well with what we had ordered. This was an exceptional and exceptionally enjoyable evening in all respects, and the young ladies of the establishment have lived up to their reputation, as did the friend who recommended it to us. read more

I selected the pork cheeks which were tender and served in a bouillon, and I guarantee that any other plate I would have chosen would have been as good. Fantastic! One of the best meals I've had. The atmosphere is great. I loved the way they serve you. You have 4 courses with a pallet cleanser. They served 3 great salads to start. 1)carrots and pickled herring, 2) cabbage and pancetta, 3)lentils. All three were amazing! They give you a very large amount and you don't have to finish all of it. For the main course you get to choose from about 7 choices. I chose some kind of grilled tripe (tripes) it was incredible. Then they bring you a pallet cleanser (some type of cucumber, mint cheese shot). You get to choose from an arrange of cheeses for the 3rd course. I just told them to bring me whatever one they thought was best and once again it was great! You also get to choose your dessert however not really speaking French I just let them choose for me again and had a remarkable pineapple cottage cheese type of dish. Early that day I ate at Le Sud a Paul Bocuse restaurant and no disrespect to the great French chef but this restaurant was 10 times better. That's not to say Le Sud wasn't great because it was but Le Bouchon des Filles was amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will come back if I get back to Lyon!!! read more

This place is awesome value. We went on a Saturday night a Where everywhere else was booked out or over fifty euros. This place had a 25 euro set with huge salad, lentils and carrots with herrings - yum! The starters were all great. I ordered the ombret du boeuf which was a bit tough and flavourless but I tried my friends dishes and the bourdin - blood sausage was outstanding. We then got cheese and desert included as well. The cheese was in a little bowl and the desserts were pretty good. All in all outstanding value. read more

Delicious full course meal with local beer and wine at a very reasonable price. We payed 33 euro per person for three shared starters (lentils, pork-cheek paste and herrings), main dish, dessert, beer and some wine. That was the second time that my boyfriend and i went to Bouchon des Filles. We both love to visit restaurants and we have actually eaten in many restaurants around the world. Definitely, this is a fabulous place to enjoy a meal. I would describe it as an elegant Bouchon with quality product and profesional service. They do also have a brilliant wine list which can be perfectly explained by the waitress... Price is completely reasonable. I swear you won't be dissapointed, excellent choice!! read more

We were looking for someplace good open on Sunday night and Lucy from Plum Lyon cooking school recommend Le Bouchon des Filles. This was the 3rd restaurant in Lyon we'd sampled and it was fabulous. We arrived a little early and they sat us immediately, the menu had a good combination of traditional Lyonnaise mains and "French" options (i.e. not all organs). The first course was a trio of veggie salads- plenty for all 4 of us (lentils was the favorite) we had "steak" and pork cheeks- both delicious. We shared a white carafe (pot) of wine early and a red with dinner, both very good. Both the food and the service were excellent. A 3 course meal is 27E, wine was around 12-13. Make a reservation, this place fills up. read more

This place is adorable. I went with a group of friends for a pre-bachelorette party dinner. From start to finish, we had an amazing experience. The staff is delightful and all of the food is delicious. The decor is very cozy and "farm/country-cool" with soft music and nice lighting. Everything was fresh and satisfying, and it felt as though we were at our cool aunt's home having dinner. Terrific place and highly recommended if living in or visiting Lyon!! read more

Everything about this Bouchon is superb. Wine, entree, plats, service. We ate together with friends one Monday night and even our local french friends among us that night found their menu exotic. Take care when ordering, the sheep especially. Ensure you're ordering sheep flesh and not sheep innards, as one at our table did inadvertently - no one could eat it. Order the Croustille de boudin aux pommes - it's delicately sweet! One more tip, read over your bill before paying. Inebriabitur de concoctionem I blindly paid. Only later did I see that €75 of my bill was someone else's. The waitress was very nice and apologetic after rectifying the error. read more

This small Lyon restaurant was recommended by our AirBNB host. He described this as a true Lyonese eatery, not a tourist place. We had a US friend with us that spoke fluent French, but from our interaction with the waitresses I clearly felt that only speaking English would not have been a significant barrier. Both my wife and I are gluten free (celiac), and there were several of the standard entrees that were GF. The meal was a very reasonable fixed price 25 EUR, and the first course was served family style. the main course as ordered for each individual, then cheeses, and dessert. We were very pleased with the meal, and noticed the restaurant, even at 9:30 in the evening, was still full with patrons arriving for dinner even at 10 pm. The place was filled with locals, so that was another good indicator of how good the food is. Note that Lyon is noted for their cooking of intestines, liver, and other exotic innards, so if you are squeamish of these meat products, make sure of what you are ordering. We had sausage and a small steak - both very good. I strongly recommend a reservation - the restaurant only seats about 50. It was a great value, a wonderful experience, we will go back the next time we are in Lyon. read more

My family has eaten here twice, on Sundays for lunch, separated by two years. We have found the service exceptionally sweet, warm... Une bonne table as they say. The place is soooo convivial. They seat you at communal tables, which can unnerve Americans. Suck it up. Say hello, and dive in! Saladiers, big bowls of vegetables, are served as the first course. We had a salade verte with some delish pate, lentils, and remarkable pickled herrings. Man oh man, everything was perfect. For the second course we tried their quenelle, sausage with pistachios (a lyonnaise thing), pork jowls. Everything was tasty, thoughtfully prepared, well seasoned. Amuse bouches, cheese plates, and desserts were fantastic. Wine menu and aperitifs were first rate... What's not to like about this place? It's traditional without being staid or dull. One of the best in Lyon. Proper powerful Lyonnaise cooking, with surprising little between course offerings, all home made. Rammed on a Monday night! The lemon tart was so eggy and lemony, and the pastry so crisp and sweet that I almost cried. Highly recommended. If you haven't booked, get there early. read more
