After my routine annual physical (which is 100% covered by my insurance BC&BS) I was sent a bill for $210. I pulled the bill from their portal and there was no detail as to what the charge was for. I contacted FPCA via their portal and asked for a detailed bill which took a couple of tries. After reviewing the billing, I still couldn't understand why I had a bill for my annual physical which is 100% covered. So, I spoke with someone in FPCA billing, and I was told that since a regular prescription I take every day was refilled during my visit, this constituted as an additional visit. In all the years I have been going to them, I have never been billed for an extra visit for the doctor entering a prescription refill for me, and I wasn't told during the visit that I would be charged for two visits. I find this HIGHLY DECEPTIVE. I cannot recommend FPCA and I will be looking for another provider outside of FPCA.

I'm a 50-year-old male with a significant cancer history (skin, prostate, pheochromocytoma) and high risk factors. I clearly requested basic blood-based screening labs (e.g., CBC, CMP, PSA, etc.). In my experience, Dr. Myer repeatedly said she did not understand my request and suggested I see other specialists instead. I left without any labs ordered. When I reviewed the visit note the next day, it stated that they "do not screen for cancer via blood test." Given my history, that statement and the refusal to order even baseline labs were alarming. In my opinion, this reflected poor listening and substandard care. I left feeling unheard and will be seeking care elsewhere.

Knowledge shared is not as useful if there person sharing lacks social skills. Kelsey, has people skills in ABUNDANCE. She is warm, engaging, and takes time to explain her answers as opposed to the often short/curt responses one gets from a medical professional. She doesn't rush through her appointments and she combines natural remedies with effective prescriptions and follows up with you. I visited her for my regular check up and to see if I could better manage my asthma and I have to say I am already so please with the outcomes. I fully trust their advice on recommended specialists I need to see, medications I need to take or any type of medical procedure needed to address a health concern. When a trip to the ER is needed, Frederick Primary Care is always the first to call me to see how I am doing. They always seem to know more about whats going on with me then I do. I have been going to various FPCA offices for nearly a decade now, and I thoroughly regret…read moreswitching from the Ballenger Creek location (but I could never get an appointment) to this one in Urbana. My latest appointment left me feeling as though I have no choice but to find a new primary care physician. I had recently gotten lab work done by a hospital as part of a clinical study - when the results came back I was able to tell I had some form of infection. I made an appointment to see the doctor at FCPA in hopes they could confirm this and prescribe me some treatment. Upon reiterating this to the doctor, and physically showing him all the lab results his response was "oh did Doctor Google tell you all this?" I said no and that I am a critical care nurse so I can interpret most lab values, but that I came in order to confirm. He said "oh so you're doctor nurse then, huh?" I found this incredibly rude and degrading. Part of my exam involved taking a look in my pelvic region and completing a swab. Initially they said they wouldn't complete this for me because they don't do "women exams." I said that this is something men get too and what would they do if a man came in with the same results to which they responded that they would do the test. The doctor and nurse left the room and ultimately decided they would complete the swab with a female doctor. Totally fine by me and I was being pleasant about the whole thing, but simply just wanted to be seen and treated. I didn't feel like I was asking for a lot since I have seen a PCP for this issue in the past and it was fine. The doctor came in, admitted she hasn't done this in forever (again totally fine I get it), fumbled around for what felt like forever, and then threw the swabs on the counter without putting them in the vials. The nurse came back in and touched the vaginal swabs with bare hands and put them into the vials. Eventually, they ran their tests and did prescribe me medication which cleared the problem. I am thankful for that, but the entire experience made me feel like I was not valued as a patient. It was very clear that this team felt I was being annoying and unreasonable despite the fact that I was being incredibly understanding, pleasant, and simply asking to be treated for something that is a primary care level problem. As a fellow healthcare worker, I am truly appalled by the attitudes from both the nurse and doctor that took care of me on this day.
