Dr. Lerner is fantastic!! I was having a lot of neck pain that would wake me up in the middle of the night, and he made the pain completely go away in 4 sessions! My husband and I have being seeing Dr. Sam Lerner for years now and have always gotten good results. For instance, recently I went in because of some very troubling spasms in my back, caused by my daily exercises I think, which were so bad they made me yelp with pain. Dr. Lerner was able to to correct the imbalance in my pelvis and get me out of bad pain in one session! We did another session to get the rest in order. Here is my story. I have had chronic pain since the age of 20 due to two levels of severely degenerated discs in my lower back. I have had 3 surgeries in the last 10 years, including an endoscopic discectomy and a failed microdiscectomy in 2007. Since then, I have undergone more physical therapy, more chiropractic adjustments than I can even count- as well as a program of decompression therapy on the DRX-9000 with only about a 20-30% improvement. I have also had subsequent facet joint and medial branch block with only short-lived success (2-3 weeks and then back to baseline). When I experience flare-ups, my lower back gets extremely rigid and tight, and my hips go so out of whack that my torso actually looks deformed because it's so asymetrical. The pain is about a 7/10 on my worst days. Since seeing Dr. Lerner over the past year, however, I have had an additional 70-80% improvement in my condition. I feel the best I have felt in 15 years. My pain level now is on average about a 1 or 2 out of 10 and sometimes even a 0!!! It's crazy because I just got used to always being in pain. For the past 2 years, I never slept through the night due to horrible spasms through my low back and buttocks, especially after that last failed surgery (which left me with additional pins and needles all the way down to my foot for about 4 months) and with one leg feeling like it was always slightly shorter than the other. But now that's virtually gone- I have no more spasms through the night, core and hips are symmetrical (they used to always go out of whack), and I just feel more balanced, relaxed, and comfortable. I can finally focus more easily on work and fun stuff, without constantly being distracted/annoyed about the pain. Don't get me wrong, I still might get flare-ups from time to time (triggered by long car rides, poor posture, bad body mechanics, or sleeping in a bad bed)- but if or when I do- I know how to manage it now so that the pain is short-lived. (1-2 days at the most). Dr. Lerner has taught me the power of ICE (his ice packs ROCK and I never really thought that ice worked before) and Home Blocking (although I don't even really need this anymore.) I am as close to "pain-free" as I have ever been in 15 years!! On top of using gentle but effective techniques, Dr. Lerner really takes time and care in diagnosing and treating each problem, and also in educating is patients for prevention. (which to me, is very important.) He knows his field well but also make helpful recommendations when it comes to natural herbs/minerals and nutrition to decrease things like muscle cramping and inflammation and to promote optimal health. I have made gradual but meaningful improvement over the past year with his help. Bottom line is that I am grateful to have found him- he is a sort of "miracle worker" to me. Plus, he's just a really nice guy. I just went for a visit yesterday (as I had hurt my neck and could barely turn my head right for a week!); and following the adjustment yesterday, I woke up today with about an 80% improvement and increased range of motion. Funny, whenever I do end up getting an adjustment from him, I can't help but wonder, "Why DID I wait so long??!!!" And his office staff (Mrs. Lerner) is always very friendly, organized, and professional as well. She makes us patients feel warm and welcome. The large fish tank and trickling water sound in the waiting room also makes Lerner Chiropractic a comfortable and relaxing environment- especially when you're in pain! read more

First time actually writing a review but here is my experience in a nutshell. Keep in mind this was my first choice after internet research for possible chiropractors within my HMO group. My appointment was scheduled for 4pm. Arrived 15 mins early which I believe is pretty customary. The chiropractor had a patient in his room with the door open. That should have been my first clue that this wasn't the right choice for me. Although the chiropractor greeted me with a warm smile precisely at 4pm to complete paperwork and give me a quick synopsis of patient privacy, he then retreated to his patient, keep in mind the patient room is still open. After 25 mins of waiting and listening to the entire conversation since I arrived 15 mins prior, I decided to leave. Not only because of the privacy issue, but because I felt, as a new patient, the chiropractor should take care to ensure a satisfactory first impression of his business, which entails not having a new patient wait 25 mins into their first visit scheduled for one hour. I'm not saying do not give this chiropractor a shot. Like I stated, he was my first choice. But if one is looking to get things done in a timely and efficient manner, one may want to block out additional time, make different arrangements, or just choose some one else. San Diego is saturated with chiropractors. Edited/Updated: I don't want to take this out on the chiropractor as it could have just been an off day. He did call back, apologize, and offered compensation. For that, I have boosted an additional star. As I have mentioned before, this is not a review to stay away, just a review of my personal experience which may or may not be the norm within that office. read more

I have a ton of chiro adjustments over the course of 14 yrs, and Dr. Lerner surpassed them all. He really goes he extra mile: he massages your whole body (with clothes on) and adjusts you from neck to tailbone, and did traction on my neck. He is really helpful to offer great advice witha listening ear a good sense of humor. He is really helpful. HE REALLY CARES! Best yet he takes my insurance. I will definitely back.
