Yes I winced and squeezed my friends hand so hard that he had to make sure I was not in labour. 'Why would you think I am in labour?' 'Because you are trying to rip through my flesh with your nails?' 'You think I'm fat don't you?' I nearly ended up in the ring with him. I hate to admit it but I enjoyed myself, I guess I like violence. It was nice to do something different, the stadium is impressive, the atmosphere was good in a loving violence type of way. In all seriousness though, I would recommend it as a good night out if you are up for something different. They also hold concerts and conferences here. Boxing matches of all age groups can be watched too, just keep looking at their events page on their website, although they really should update their website!

The other, and main, reason is that they don't actually own much land on the far side and therefore can't build a second stand. Damned Tennis Court! Still, one stand and two terraces ain't half bad given the relative obscurity from which club rugby has emerged in the last ten years or so.

As they cannot get hold of the adjacent properties, Stand #2 is nowhere on the horizon, and seeing as the really, really big dates like Leinster vs. Munster are held in Croke Park, and shortly, at the new Lansdowne Road, there may actually be no need for one The much harangued and ridiculed Senior and Junior School's Rugby Cup matches are held in Donnybrook each year too. These events are like clinical research into the herd-mentality and see hundreds of uniformed young males descend into an uproarious fervour of animalistic school pride. Definitely worth a look-see, as I don't think you'll find school spirit as powerful as this anywhere else this side of the Atlantic.

Take a walk along the East and West piers which were built in the 1800s, admire the boats in the marina, or look in the opposite direction for fabulous views of Dublin Harbour and Howth. There is a gorgeous rotunda on the East pier and this is the perfect place for some Sunday afternoon wanderings with family or friends and the obligatory ice cream. I happened to be there to witness a huge storm rolling in. The 180 degree ocean views meant that this was spectacular. Just don't get caught out on the pier if those storms start heading your way!

They have some lovely restaurants along the promenade from oscars in the Royal marine hotel to the hen house along the sea front. On a warm sunny day it's nice to sit outside these and soak in the atmosphere and people watch. The pier itself has a lovely walk with all sorts of walkers from the full swing to the day dreamers -All admiring the sea views on either side. They have some events throughout the year such as outdoor concerts so look out for them. Come have a look y'all!

This is an action sailing club for both young and old…read more The facilities are outstanding for sailors with last shower and change area right off the sailing deck, a sailors bar is is a great place to meet and talk post competition, and. Large crane can be used to either launch boat or to haul boat for a bottom cleaning. Thursday night is race night so the is sailors food and drink. This is when there is a buzz of activity. There is also formal dinning with a proper chefs menu and wine selection. Generally there is a fixed choice of meat of fish dishes. All in all a very enjoyable place for boaters to meet, compete, eat and socialize.

If you got through enough rounds of running at the Community Games, then this was where you went to compete in the finals, where up to 8,800 people could watch you romp home to victory. I was always knocked out in the first round, usually making everyone feel better by coming last - I was happy to do it - but my sister once made it to this hallowed ground. Unfortunately, her lace came undone and she fell, limping in to last place. The car journey home was an uncomfortable one.
