What a waste of my life to write this, but I feel you should explore your options before coming here. Came here on a recommendation. I originally called with a request to expedite a transmission repair. I asked Roxy, the receptionist, what the timeline looked like in order to get a work truck back in operation, as it serves as the primary vehicle for our operations. She said her guys (guy?) were out to lunch but if not today, the same afternoon, then sometime tomorrow someone will call with a quote. After not hearing an update on the status of the vehicle I call to see if the tow made it to the shop. Roxy answers and says, "Oh! I'm glad you called. I totally forgot to even check that in." Strike one. Another whole day goes by without hearing anything. I call back after hours with a message asking for an update on the vehicle. Next morning I finally hear from Rick, the technician. Nice enough guy, but sounds overworked. Asks me if I got his call and message yesterday. I check my phone, no missed calls, no messages. "No," I say, "What time did you call?" "Oh, uh, erhm, I don't know exactly. But it must have been sometime yesterday." Strike two. Whatever, as long as we can now make some progress on the vehicle now, right? He low-ball quotes me around $3,200. I suspect that the final total will be beyond that, as is typical of mechanic interactions. Says he has to get in there and see what's going on with the transmission to see what final cost of rebuild is going to be. Fair enough. Then I need to wait the weekend, another two days down. Get a call late Monday that the new total is closer to $3,600. And while I don't doubt the truck needed the work, the upselling with replacing this seal and that began. By the time he was done with recommendations the new total was nearing $5,500. I decline any additional services and move forward with just the transmission rebuild. Tuesday comes around and to his credit, Rick prioritizes and turns it around much quicker than his original projection of Thursday. When I go in to pay last night, Roxy fails to inform me verbally that paying with credit card is going to incur an additional 3% fee, instead defending some 8.5"x11" signage that they have scattered about the workroom. So, $120 lesson to me to read all signage around a mechanic's showroom at the end of the day when I'm rushing to get there before they close and $120 lesson to them to maybe call out the fact that they'll charge you an additional 3% if you decide to put it on a card. The kicker? A policy they implemented after I originally left truck with them. The sign read "Starting November 3." Upon realizing, after receiving a receipt with the newfound additional cost, I inquire as to what can be done to reverse or make it right. What I'm met with over and over? "Oh, we'll have to talk to corporate to see what can be done." It's not even so much the cost as to the regularity of being brushed off and lied to. That's what made this a bad experience. I gave them both several chances to make things right. We could have met somewhere in the middle over a measly $120 cost. Strike three. But it was just the final straw. Hopefully you'll come up with some superior customer service tactics going forward? So the final out the door cost was near $4,000. And the final, inflexible solution was to have a heated phone exchange where he's mad at me, that I don't appreciate that he is a one-man operation and has had to let all of his other technicians go and made extra effort to get this back to me quickly. Next time just be honest and say that you don't have the time to take a rush request? Maybe see what corporate can help with. Thanks for getting the truck up and running but this could have been dealt with in a much superior fashion. read more

We have used the Leon's Transmission in Oxnard, prior to their closing. One of our cars started acting weird and not shifting and then completely stopped in Malibu. I called Leon's and found out the closest shop was in Simi Valley, so we had our car towed to them from Malibu. I ended up getting there almost 3 hours prior to AAA finally getting my car towed there and their Office Manager, Roxy was completely my life saver. She kept me calm and had their head Mechanic, Rick talk with me about some of the scenario's that could be wrong, potentially with the transmission to just chatting with me to calm me down since I was so upset. They went above what I would consider standard when it came to taking care of us. After Rick did the Diagnostic, which ended up being free he found that it was actually the catalytic converter and took the car to the mechanic down the street to have it fixed. This was invaluable to me since I live on the Coast line of Ventura County and they totally just took care of it for me. First review EVER...in my 50 years!!! Trying to save others from a nightmare. I had Leon's rebuild the transmission in my sprinter van. They had the van for three times the amount of time they initially stated it would take, and then when I got it back, within two days, it had issues that required it to go back. This happened a third time within the first few months after rebuild. I thought It was good, and then a few days later all the transmission fluid dumped out on a clients driveway. Causing huge hassle and expense. I towed the van to Leon's, and they told me sorry that they had forgotten to tighten the drain plug. Awhile after I got the van back, while checking fluids, I noticed that they forgot to reinstall the dipstick cap. I had driven it around for a months without one. Dirt in a newly rebuilt transmission.... No big deal right? I contacted Leon's asking for them to at least replace the missing cap. The manager said he would handle it, but never followed up. I probably wouldn't have written a review, but when I just crawled under my van to change the oil, I noticed that they did not reinstall the metal cover plate to the torque converter. Also , they didn't re-install a large rubber sealing plug that gives you access through the bell housing. Not only did Leon's cost me a month and a half without my work van, I've come to find out that their work is completely substandard, and they have no interest in taking care of it. You would think that when they tightened the drain plug after all the oil dumped out, they would've noticed all the missing parts that were very visible under the van...within a foot of the loose drain plug. UNBELIEVABLE! You might think after 12 quarts of transmission fluid ruined a driveway in a $10 million house, that they might have some sympathy, and at least replace the missing dipstick, torque converter cover and rubber plug in the transmission. I'm sure when they read this, They're suddenly going to be available to take care of their mistakes. StI'll under the Leon's "warranty". What a joke. They'll never touch another vehicle for me or any of my family or friends ever again. Being a car guy...and a 40 year local resident, I will share story with everyone I know. My experience was first with Thousand Oaks Leon's, and when they shut down, the van went to Leon's Simi Valley, with same results. Same owner. Just so everybody knows...every Leon's transmission is rebuilt from used parts at shop in the valley and the quality is very poor. So rebuild work not done by local mechanics. To be clear... every single port on the transmission they left unsealed, after having the transmission out of the van three times....did not tighten the drain plug. No dipstick cap. No torque converter cover. No rubber access plug. INSANE!!!! I have to go to Mercedes to get replacements for all of these. All said and done.... I could've purchased a brand new transmission full price from the Mercedes dealership, and it would've cost me way less. My intention was to support local business. This is how I was rewarded. I had suspicions of my transmission fluid going bad so I needed it checked, not only did he immediately agree to get my car test driven and diagnosed, he also got my fluid checked. All for free, all quickly and efficiently. Even pointed out some other issues they noticed with my car. I ended up buying a new car while they were diagnosing and quoting my car. When I told them, I was purchasing a new car. They were very excited for me and told me that was the better option. Love this place. My usual mechanic referred me over saying I might have some transmission issues. Came in nervous that even if there were no issues, they might say there was something wrong to get a buck off me. The service took half the time than expected, and they said there were no issues that came up in their tests. Matter what it is he will help you get you back on the road and provide any type of service in the transmission that you need. these guys know what they're doing and these guys are incredible. Julia is one of the nicest guys I've ever met and will always be there with you every step of the way with your car services to make sure your transmission is back on track. I had transmission issues. I had taken my car into C&M, I paid over $300.00 in diagnostic tests. They couldn't find the issue they wanted an additional $1370.00 to find the issue. They were very deceitful in their charges and not forth coming with any information. I was reluctant to go into another shop I felt like a walking target. I decided to give Leon's Transmission service a try. I'm so happy I did !. They were kind, professional and upfront about the issues with my car. They didn't charge me for a diagnostic. Leon's repaired my transmission they were fair and reasonably priced, most of all they were HONEST. They went above and beyond in taking care of my car, took the time to explain everything to me. I also have a good two year warranty on my transmission. I know there are many shops across the US that will honor the warranty should anything happen to the transmission.
