As a photographer I have the opportunity to experience many different catering halls and venues. I must say that the the staff here as wonderful and the food even better. This visit is for an annual even from the charitable group Kiwanis on Long Island. Specifically, the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center The rooms are very spacious and bright.... The reason I mention this is that bright = cheerful. Great decor here except for the mirrored wall which are always a challenge. The staff is extremely courteous and as a photographer they DO NOT make me feel like and unwanted guest. They are always asking me if I need anything to eat or drink, realizing that I am always busy. I enjoy their food tremendously. It's tough to feed 350+ hundred of people with both good food and expediency. Their trained staff is obviously very good at what they do. As photographer we have been taught that when the food comes out... you take your seat as you do not want to get in the way of the team serving food. The downstairs room has a very big bar with plenty of help. Another item to make the experience a great one. Within the "photographer's corner," I have never heard anyone not speak well of Leonard's. Rating is more like a 3.5/5. I had my wedding reception here last year, and overall, it was a decent venue considering the price range. However, there are a ton of areas that they can improve on. 1. Communication - It was so hard getting a hold of my sales rep after booking the venue and leading up to my wedding. Whenever I called, I had to leave messages with the receptionist and the sales rep would never get back to me. My emails would often go unanswered, and then I would have to follow up. When they were answered, the sales rep would only address some of my questions/concerns instead of everything, so I'd have to chase him down again. Also, some of the instructions/requests that I relayed to him weren't carried out on the day of the wedding. For example, I asked for the "throne" chairs in the room to be switched out to normal chairs, but I saw that this was not done when I arrived at the venue for wedding pictures. It really sucked that I had to be on top of making sure that everything I asked for was in place. Obviously, I couldn't do that for every single detail, so there were definitely a lot of things that weren't perfect. Another example is we agreed on the guest check-in area to be where the cocktail hour is being held, but it was moved to the outside of the reception room instead. I don't mind the change but I just wish there was more communication here. 2. Cake - Leonard's package includes a complimentary wedding cake from Francesco's, which only has a 3.5 star rating on Yelp. That seemed a bit too low for such an important part of my wedding. And my gut instincts proved to be right. At the cake tasting, I paid an extra $200 for a better wedding cake design because the complimentary ones looked very tacky and old-fashioned. I emailed the bakery staff the design that I wanted on the spot AND the staff doing the tasting with me noted on the receipt/order form that the design is "same as pic" and attached it to a printed picture of the cake design. Sadly, I found out that they gave me the tacky complimentary design instead of the design I wanted literally 10 minutes before the reception began. I was upset but couldn't do anything about it at that point. My maitre'd and sales rep at Leonard's assured me that they would reach out to Francesco's and give me a refund quickly. I later learned that this was NOT the case. It took me 3 whole weeks to receive my money back and this was after A LOT of follow-ups and chasing both Leonard's and Francesco's for the refund. I sincerely hope Leonard's took my suggestion to partner up with a different bakery for their future needs. 3. Food - I had a lovely time at the entree tasting with my husband and our families. It gave us an opportunity to see what was working and what wasn't. Then, we gave the chef our feedback, and I also sent a copy of my feedback to the sales rep. So definitely take notes during the tasting to give feedback later. Chef Carlos was great and a joy to work with. He saw how much my mom loved the sauce of the Agrigento Salad and let us take home a small container of it. Our server, Rina, was also fantastic. I specifically asked for her to help me on my wedding day, and the sales rep made it happen, so yay. The layered potatoes accompanying the entrees on each plate was the highlight for me. However, sadly, it was switched to mashed potatoes on the day of the wedding. I'm not sure why and I never got to ask. Overall, the food was ok - not the best wedding food I've had but acceptable. 4. Timeliness - Some of my guests probably started arriving about half an earlier than the start time, which seems pretty normal to me, but Leonard's was so behind on setting up the cocktail room and reception room. They were still in the process so guests saw it still under progress/ couldn't enter yet. 5. Vendor showcase - Before I booked the venue, the sales rep let me know that Leonard's has a vendor showcase once (or twice??) a year where we can sample the appetizers we'd have at cocktail hour and meet vendors. I was really happy to hear this and I thought I would be able to sample the cocktail hour appetizers, but this was pretty far from it. Yes, we had a lot of food to sample, but most of the food was not on the list of food available for the wedding. So I'd keep this in mind! But the showcase was still really fun; I got to meet a lot of cool vendors, although I didn't end up going with any of them. I think I could go on and on about their flaws, but I think it's important for me to acknowledge they did have areas that they excelled in, such as flexibility with changing ballrooms last minute, increasing guest count, etc. And honestly, the venue, especially the Leonardo ballroom was gorgeous, with a private patio and a huge bar area. They also did a terrific job packing up all our stuff at the end of the wedding for us to take home. For what I was looking for, I don't have regrets about having my wedding reception here. read more

Oh what a night! We had an epic sweet sixteen here at this venue which was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Eric, the banquet manager was awesome in responding and accommodating all our requests. From the beginning to the end, Eric ensured that the birthday girl and all of us were happy with the party. Shout out to Calvin, the maitre d and bridal attendees, Alison and May who were attentive throughout the night. Our daughter was over the moon with the final night, even though we had a slight mishap with our sign! The place was impeccably clean and festive. I started planning my daughter's 18th birthday since last year after attending her friend's 18th birthday. I've never planned a party to this scale. I was anxious about a lot of things, but the team at Leonard's were accessible and responded quickly to all the questions I asked. Brittney, Arianna and Gabrielle had been great in the communication loop. Sitting down with Eric for the final floor plan made it seamless to carry out seating arrangements. The staff was amazing particularly Eleina, our maitre d and Terrence, one of the wait staff. Terrence's very friendly demeanor was loved by a lot of the guests. Eleina's coordination and attention to detail put me at my anxiety at bay. The venue is immaculately clean and everyone enjoyed the food. I would recommend Leonard's time and again. read more

I attended an event at Leonard's this weekend. What a beautiful space. It's large and multi-level, so they're able to accommodate multiple parties and events at the same time. It has an old-world elegant vibe. The service was good, and the decor at the party was done really well. The food was tasty, both during the cocktail reception and sit-down meal. Leonard's Palazzo, formally known as Leonards of great neck, is an institution. I had my bar mitzvah here decades ago and I have been here a dozen times since for gatherings and celebrations of every type. They can accommodate parties as small as 30 people or as large as 1000, and they handle all of these affairs with Grace and professionalism. The acoustics in these rooms vary from good to very good. Heating is always adjusted to a comfortable level, the lighting is able to accommodate your needs and their staff here are well trained. The food is better than most catering halls, that is to say there will be a difference between the meals served here versus a fine dining establishment. I have seldom found a catering hall that can make all 750 meals a work of art. The emphasis here needs to be on timing rather than quality, but I have always found the food here to be most acceptable under the circumstances. The bartenders know how to mix a good drink. The serving staff are young, but appear to be properly trained, which is one of the things that earns this place a fourth star. read more

I was a guest, at a wedding here recently. The one thing that stood out was the bad food. While the cocktail food was plentiful, with different stations, it was not good. The " Indian food dishs " seemed like they were cooked by someone who had no clue and just mixed in very different Asian spices and sugar into food. Just gross! There was a fried breaded food section... mozzarella, zucchini, calamari. I've had better frozen food from Trader Joe's. The saving grace of the cocktail. hour was the mozzeralla balls and tomato salad. The served dinner was no better. The salmon was inedible, the pasta was the most basic half rigatoni drowned in tomato sauce. I also heard complaints, from other guests, that the lamb chops were too rare. Came by for a friend's wedding reception. We were not the only wedding taking place. The parking is valet, so when you get there, they take your car and give you a card. Gorgeous venue, rushed events. The wedding had ample space for the guests to celebrate. I thought the team (bartenders, waiters, etc) all did a wonderful job walking around, clearing tables, and mixing drinks. It felt very professional. Sitting at an angle, at a table near the front during the luncheon, I was not able to see the speeches well. I would think the people across from me could see even less. I would suggest a reorganization of space. Photo booth was fun and the bathrooms were very clean throughout the event. As a guest, I would recommend this wonderful venue. read more

I had my reception here for my wedding on July 10, 2021. We booked the main hall downstairs with a 600 guest list. It is easy for me to say Leonard's had one of the most unprofessional service. For the $$$ they charged I would expect some professionalism. I have never gone out of my way to post a bad review, but I was honestly disheartened by their role at my reception. Prior to the wedding reception they had us map out the hall and where everything should be placed. They did not follow the map discussed at all. I asked for the photobooth to be placed by the entrance so everyone has a chance to use it. They placed it by the bathroom and no one saw it--so that was a waste of money. I asked for this nice portrait I had made to be placed by the photobooth and they placed it at the welcome desk. The welcome desk was god knows in what corner because no one saw that either and no one signed our welcome hearts. The hearts came in a box with a cute little box with instructions written in it and the box was was never put together by them. I dropped off flowers for the cake and they placed the wrong flowers on my cake. So my videos have the wrong cake! There was an attendant hired to make sure my dress trail would flow nicely. Her sole job was to take care of me and my dress and she was missing most of the time. My own mother was taking care of my dress. Due to the lack of attention on the Leonard's attendant's part my dress was placed right by the sparklers during my cake cutting, which burned a hole through my dress. Thankfully my MIL saw and saved the dress altogether and there wasn't much damage. When I asked for my portrait and crystals back at the end of the night I learned they threw out my crystals. Recently I received my videos and realized they never even placed my custom cake topper on my cake. So there goes more $$ down the drain. Edit: I was mistaken in my prior review; Leonard's did respond to my email regarding my review of their services. But my opinion on their services remains the same. I was not happy with how things were handled and I still would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I attended an evening wedding here last night and it was my first time here at Leonards. I'm impressed on how beautiful this place is. My friends and I hanged out at the guest room for groom's party and the room was pretty nice. There's also bunch of sparkly and bright chandeliers at the Leonards. From yesterday's event, there was cocktail hour, a three course meal for dinner, and the dessert bar at the end. I really enjoyed food here. Cocktail hour had cold foods buffet, Italian food selections, and Indian food selections. The three course dinner had pasta, salad, and an entree of your choice (e.g. I got the salmon). The dessert bar had a bunch of mini desserts, an ice cream station, and chocolate fondue area. I didn't get that much dessert since I was already full for the night. I just celebrated my wedding party here on Friday, 9/24/21 and everyone had a fantastic time! All of our guests were raving about how beautiful everything turned out and how good the food was. It was our FOURTH date due to multiple postponements and the staff was extremely accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process. Gabrielle and Eric are truly amazing to work with! Over the past 2 years of back and forth emails and phone calls, they were always extremely quick to respond and overall just lovely people to engage with. I could not imagine working with better people for my wedding, especially during the wild ride it's been. Eric, our Maitre'd for the night went ABOVE & BEYOND. We had a major issue with our florist and thanks to his quick thinking and exceptional customer service, he literally saved the night! He was there every step of the way making sure we were taken care of completely and we were happy with the way things were going. We could not have picked a better person to handle our wedding! Rina and Silvia, my bridal attendants, were so lovely! They made sure I was always hydrated, happy, and not tripping over my dress! ABSOLUTELY STUNNING DECOR AND EVENT VENUE!!! My cousin hosted his wedding reception this past weekend here and I was blown away at how fancy it was. There's a GIGANTIC chandelier hanging in the middle of a circular staircase - I'm sure many great pictures were taken here! It is a humongous place and have multiple event spaces - I saw at least 3 other separate events going on while I was there. All the guests started arriving to Leonard's around 5:30 - 6pm. Right when we arrived, we were led into the cocktail buffet reception. This was just to grab a quick bite or drink before the main banquet. Food options were plentiful, however the food was alright. We had an open bar all throughout the night which was a nice addition. After wrapping up, we progressed to move to the main banquet hall. There must have been at least 8 long rectangular tables in the hall (seated 14 each). The food at the banquet was pretty decent, not too shabby considering the kitchen had to dish out over 100 meals to serve everyone. Overall, the staff did a great job making sure that everyone was served and that the set up was as tidy as possible. Would definitely recommend this place for any special occasions if you are in the little neck area. read more

My husband and I hosted our baby shower for the birth of our third baby boy September 2024 at Leonard's Palazzo. We were unsure about our decision to host our celebration there versus another venue however, after our first consultation with Jeffery, he helped calmed our nerves. It was truly one of the driving factors of why we ultimately booked with this establishment. He was down to earth, relatable, informative, kind and flexible. It was easy to see why he closed the deal so quickly. He was excellent from the very start to the end! Then the day of our event finally came and WOW! I was running behind schedule and was worried I wouldn't have enough time to set up for the event. However, I received a text message from our matire'd Kelvin who asked me how I wanted certain items displayed during the room. When I finally arrived and rushed in- I was shocked to see that everything was in place exactly with the way I intentioned. This same energy continued throughout the whole event. Kelvin was always available and so kind. He gently reminded me of the schedule without me feeling rushed. He seemed to predict what was needed before it was even asked. He was down to earth, culturally appropriate and an all around genuinely good person. I have hosted possibly too many events in this last decade and I can tell you without doubt I have never come across a more professional, thoughtful, more pleasant, and more in-tuned staff than at Leonard's Palazzo. It was hands on the best decision that we made. Our guests raved about the food, the cleanliness of the establishment and the welcoming of the staff. We had a guest list of 100 people - and there were no complaints. Even at the end of the function- when it was raining- our guests had no issues with valet. I would 1000000% choose Leonard's Palazzo again if I were doing another event- but I would make sure I had the star team of Jeffery and Kelvin. Our Banquet Manager was Jeffrey Edmonds, and he made sure that our event was exactly how we wanted it. He respected our budget and did not try to make us go beyond our means. All the while, he helped us have the wedding we envisioned. Our Maître-D, Peter, made sure that we were accommodated when there were last minute changes. He also made stylistic recommendations to enhance the decorations we had and implemented them by using what was already available to us. My wife's bridal attendant, Carolina, went above and beyond her duties. She anticipated my wife's needs and ensured that she was comfortable on that day. LP looks descent and the appetizers were really good. We had plenty of seafood including lobster tails, cocktail shrimps, and even Peking duck. They also had calamari, tamales and mozzarella sticks. Penne alla vodka was good. Bar was descent. She was able to make the drinks strong. Main entree I had the filet mignon which was just okay. The meat was a bit dry. The catering service was descent. The only hiccup was in the beginning. I noticed that one of the organizers working there was rude to the bride and did not allow anyone in even though they were on time. read more

The venue that anyone is dreaming of having his / her event. I had attended weddings, birthdays and sweet 16 celebrations here but tonight was for a fundraising event. It's quite an elegant venue and pricey for the kind of event but the host definitely had generous sponsorships. The chandeliers and the decors gave a very charming addition to the celebration. My company paid my event's ticket. The ticket price was expensive. Understood that it is a fundraising event. Limited drinks and appetizers were provided during the cocktail hour but satisfying. The 3 course dinner was simple but fulfilling. Anyhow, the staff provided good service. The honorees were fully appreciated. Awards, personal grab bag and full attention to all were given during the program. Anyway, that was the focal point of the event and the reason to be here. Leonard's Palazzo was probably our 6th or 7th wedding venue we visited and after meeting with Jeffery Edmonds, our search was over! We literally came back a week later to lock in our wedding date! I can honestly say there was not one flaw in that wedding venue; the ceremony rooms are beautiful, the cocktail hour rooms are spacious as well as the reception rooms! There's a large parking lot for guests, the venue is handicap accessible and has outdoor space for an outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour and lounging! Jeffrey Edmonds was an amazing host! He's funny, he's honest and we definitely connected with him! He reassured us that he was always available if we had any questions or concerns and he definitely was!! The day of our wedding EVERYONE WAS PRESENT, ATTENTIVE AND FRIENDLY!!!! I couldn't be more pleased with the service!! Even our guest expressed how immaculate the building and service was! What a beautiful venue. We were here for my niece's wedding reception. Beautifully decorated inside, this venue has all the bells and whistles. The wedding and reception was very large, and everything ran smoothly. The cocktail hour included a large selection of foods all beautifully displayed and so delicious. I went here on two separate occasions to speak to Danielle about a sweet 16 party for my daughter. The rooms are absolutely BEAUTIFUL The hallways the stairs every place in this building is picturesque and stunning!!! Danielle Who has shown us around both times is professional, sweet, beautiful, and gracious. But however I will not be booking my party here and for these reasons. 1. You are only allowed to put $5000 maximum on a credit card everything else no matter how much the balance is must be paid in cash, check, or cashiers check. That is Insane! 2. Security guards are required! I believe it's 1 every 50 guests so I was told my daughter had to have at least two but three would be the norm at $250 a piece! So $500 to pay for security here. Cash! other venues I've looked into charges $125 and I only needed 1 security guard. 3. I asked her about a 10% "Administrators Fee" Totaled about $1200.00 that was on the contract So it's 10% of your entire bill. You're having a big party deck and be quite costly. I asked her what it was for and she told me it's to protect them In case the prices of food or anything goes up that they need to cover ourselves. Lol, Really! Umm.. ok, I asked her well what if no prices go up and she said it doesn't matter you still have to pay the fee. She then says well that's not much some venues charge 18% to 20% we only charge 10%. Well I have to say that Russos on the bay and Villa Roma and Rome View do not have administration fees! 4. The food... I have not personally tried it but I have seen it and it doesn't look very appetizing. I am Italian with the majority of people attending my affair will be Italian and as far as I know it's always been Italian owners of this venue. And the food that they were offering visually looked cheap and not worth it. My opinion (definitely not for $1200 needed in case the price would go up on rice, pasta or pigs in a blanket) The food just did not look really appetizing and from my first visit that was a very big concern. Some of the appetizers looked like they were frozen foods. 5. On our first visit we had asked if it was possible on the date we had chosen which was Thanksgiving weekend if we could have a certain room for 125 people instead of 150 on a Friday. She said she had to ask the big boss. She came back and said no that he wouldn't do it. I understand that it's business but if that was the only thing I wasn't happy about I could overlook it. When I went to Russos on the Bay the owner Frankie gladly said I could have a room for 125 instead of 150. I just got the feeling that it was very much about business and I didn't get that personable vibe that I received at other venues I've been to or have been a client of. We really like Danielle but unfortunately I also read all the Yelp reviews and a lot of people complained about the food and the service the day of and that factory conveyor belt kind of feeling & experience. Food was terrible. In addition waitresses are unprepared, and the spot I was in was really dirty. The Filet Mignon which I received was cold and undercooked, and the deserts also tasted terrible. Overall, do yourself a favor and don't come here to host a party. read more

Where do we even begin! My husband and I just celebrated our wedding at Leonard's Palazzo on March 31, 2019. The day was absolutely perfect! Truth be told the person who helped to bring our vision into reality was Jay Ahn. We first met Jay when we scheduled a tour of Leonard's. From the first time we met he was charismatic and made us feel extremely comfortable. Before choosing Leonard's we visited many venues and there were different things about each location that we loved. We shared some of the things we loved with Jay from the other venues and he ensured that they were a part of our day. Jay was attentive to all of our needs and answered every e-mail, and there were tons. Jay made us feel as though our wedding was his priority. Our experience at Leonard's was exceptional! From the hands on approach of Jay to the food and service! The hospitality hour, the cocktail hour and then the reception everything was perfect. The day flowed with ease because we had such an amazing team! Our 2 maitre D, Joanne and Didi, and the bridal attendants Wendy and Kohav were supper attentive. We choose this venue to execute my daughter's sweet 16 party. We booked the Parisian room for our event with Danielle our sales manager. From the beginning my wife felt at easy, all the way to the day of execution. I rented all my linens as we did check out the selection of linens offered at no charge but they were dated for the look of a club lounge sweet sixteen. Their staff is very good, i had requested to meet everyone on the day of the event to go over notes and details at their pre meal meeting. I took time as well to thank them personally, for taking care of my family and my daughter (cash tips go a long way b4 an event;) I received great feedback about the food as we did a buffet and we choose items that have better shelf life in a buffet setting while keeping expectations at bay; you know what to expect at a buffet. My captain Yissel and Stephanie are super stars, they got all the moving parts of the event rolling. Their expertise, professionalism and excellent service delivery really made the difference. stephanie was assigned to assist my daughter all night from photos, food to packing us out; remarkably an expert. She is one of the reasons I would book again. Yissel's execution skills are second to none, she understands her clients and she aims to please. My husband and I got married at Leonards on 3/17/19. There are NO WORDS that can truly express how much Ryan came through for us. I was a VERY particular bride, I email Ryan at least weekly of 7 months asking the smallest detailed questions yet he was so patient with me. Through the whole process, Ryan found a way to make me feel like I was the only wedding happening at Leonards. It took me 7 months to pick a venue all because I combed through all of the venue options over the northeast with a fine tooth bomb. If you are looking for a beautiful, affordable, great food and service, Leonards will be your best option! Ryan worked so hard to get me exactly what I wanted, I lived out of town so I would pop into town and demand Ryan have a meeting with me. He always found a way to get me what I needed and on budget.
