We easily were able to get here using public transit from the airport along to Westbahnhof to a train ride to Salzburg. This would be our spot of choice for return trips to Wien.

You don't realize how nice it is to have a fridge and a bowl and utensils in a hotel room until you start spending more time away from your home than you do in it. The bed was awesomely comfortable and the sheets were super nice too. I also liked the bath products. The rooftop TERRACE is spectacular and provides a wonderful view of Vienna and a nice place to have a meeting over a drink. BREAKFAST is substantial (as I have come to expect in Austria) and can fuel you for the entire day as it includes breads of all types, cooked to order eggs, as well as a variety of cheese, meat and fruit. The LOCATION, in the 7th District, is convenient as you can easily walk to a lot from here. A cab to/from the airport takes about 30 minutes. It's brand new so there are still some kinks to be worked out (wayfinding, for example, so you don't end up in the sketchy kitchen of the attached building.) But if my go to hotel in Vienna - the Holmann Beletage - is not available, 25hours Hotel will be my runner up for sure.

The hotel looks old from the outside, but it looks much newer and nicer on the inside, including the guest rooms. Rooms (****) Just like the lobby area, the guest rooms are nicely renovated. In particular, the bathroom is tastefully done. They have used stone for the bathroom floor and walls. The sleeping area is carpeted. The furniture and fixtures are simple and look nice. I decided to take one star off because Room 014 was terrible. As you can see in my photos, this room looks out to the wall of next building and pidgins (and their poop!). I HAD to ask them to move me to a different room (Room 404). See below for a tip on how to choose a good room. Staff (*****) I have interacted with several staff members, but they are all friendly (enough) and nice. When you check in, they will give you a map of the area and a few restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood. Location (*****) This location worked out well for me. It's within an easy walking distance from the part of the University of Vienna campus. There are many restaurants and shops nearby (next few blocks). It only takes about 5 minutes to walk to the City Hall and the Parliament. Old Town is only 15 minutes walk away. Breakfast (****) Buffet breakfast is served in the bar. It's a very basic hotel breakfast buffet (yogurt, cold cuts, fruit, bread). You can also order egg dishes like scrambled eggs, but there's no other hot food. It costs 16 Euro (as of April 2023). It's not a great buffet, but you get what you pay for. If you're more for the quality and if you'd like to save a couple of Euro, you may want to skip the hotel buffet and go to Cafe Elies (next block). They have several breakfast combos including drinks for 10~14 Euro (inclusive of about 10% tip). See my review of Cafe Elies for more. Pro Tip #1 (Room selection): I would ask for a city view room on a higher floor (there are 5 floors above ground with 4th floor being the highest). The inner court does not look good at all. If your room is on a high floor, the noise from the road is not much of an issue. Don't expect a gorgeous city view; you will only see the buildings on the other side of the road, but it looks better than any other views. Pro Tip #2 (Transportation to and from VIE): It's about 30 minutes away from the airport. The cheapest way is, of course, using the trains. Uber is readily available in Vienna, including the airport. It costs about 35~40 Euro. The hotel can arrange an airport transfer, but it costs 55 Euro. Recommendation I may return here if the price is right. If I do decide to come back, I will definitely ask for a city view room on a high/the highest floor.

We went to Vienna to see the Christmas Market. The main Christmas market is within walking distance. There is a gem of a restaurant on the premises, Maurice the manager, took very good care of us. We had the best chicken wienerscnitzel in Vienna, there. The only issue with this hotel is that it's not accessible if you have any mobility issues. To get to the lobby you HAVE to climb 12 marble steps. While they are not large steps, nevertheless there is no other way of getting into the hotel. I used a walker and had my family to help. They did have a doorman on the weekend that was very accommodating to assist me in getting up those stairs.

For the discerning traveler wanting a truly local experience, it's hard to imagine there's a better hotel in Vienna. In fact the only thing missing at the Hollmann Beletage is a lively bar scene. This unique hotel's a little more like staying at a hip friend's flat and waking up to find a chef in the kitchen preparing you breakfast. If you require 24 front desk reception or room service it might not be the right pick. But if you're just fine letting yourself in and you don't mind getting dressed to eat, head over to the nearby Hollmann's Salon and have your drinks and dinner there. I'd definitely rate Hollmann Beletage right up there with some of my other favourite hotels - The Ace, New York; The Drake, Toronto; The Hoxton, London; The Soho House, Berlin; The Louis, Munich; CitizenM, Amsterdam - and look forward to sleeping with them again soon.

Every hotel I stay in now will be compared to the Hollmann Beletage. We found the place fine (look for an orange overhang), and were able to walk from the Wien Mitte train station after taking the CAT from the airport. Extremely convenient city location! The front desk staff was welcoming and helpful for anything we needed. They have limited hours, but I don't require any assistance overnight, so it was not an issue at all. The room was quite large, with a very comfortable king sized bed right in the middle. Separate WC, shower stall on the side, sink adjacent to the headboard, a desk, a couch, and a comfortable chair. We were here for 5 nights and 6 days, so we were very happy to have big closets to unpack and the couch to hang out and read on. The room was cleaned every day and the first day we were given Pez candies on our pillow. (Not sure if we should have gotten these every day, but we only got them one day/five). We were also provided slippers and robes, which are basically necessities for me in a hotel, especially in the winter. I prefer not to travel with my own robe, but as a long haired girl in a hotel room with limited towels, this amenity means a lot to me. We loved the breakfast each morning! In an intimate room on the top floor, a small but efficient team serve up truly delicious food. There was always a selection of rolls/croissants, meats and cheeses, jams, nutella, fruit salad, and granola and toppings. Additionally, one could order a made-to-order dish as well as any espresso drink or tea. All this was included in the price of the room, which we thought provided a great value. The Hollmann Beletage has a lot of personal, homey touches that truly made us feel comfortable. There were games on the 1st floor we could take down and play, as well as couches to lounge on (with throw blankets!) and magazines. In this area, there were also small sandwiches, delicious Kugelhopf (cake), and sparkling wine set out in the afternoon each day. I've never hung out in the common area of a hotel before, but we took advantage of this every afternoon happened to be in the hotel, and we were not the only ones! On the top floor, there was another common area, with tea and whiskey set up in the afternoon, a computer and printer available, and a lovely fireplace. Because we were here in December, there was also a Christmas tree!!! On Christmas morning, the staff placed packages for the guests in each room under the tree of their lovely homemade jam. Such a special touch! I would not only stay at his hotel whenever I am in Vienna, but I would plan my trip around the hotel's availability, as it is a boutique hotel with only 24 rooms. We stayed at the Penta Hotel in Vienna the night before we flew out, and it only confirmed my love and strong preference for the HB. Don't hesitate to book a room here, you will love it!

Getting to the hotel is easy from the train station - tram "D" to Schottentor and you'll see the hotel from the station. Good breakfast with lots of nice outdoor seating - the first hotel breakfast where they have small creamy cakes and block of fresh honey. A few areas of improvement: beds are a bit too soft, the minibar is unnecessary - makes the fridge difficult to use and just causes complications on checking out when you have to make sure you don't get charged for drinks you didn't touch.

I used a globalist suite upgrade award and had an amazing room! There were even chocolates and fruit in the room for me. As a globalist, I got free breakfast every day, which was great, but the service could be slow. I used the spa and it was nice. I was the only one using it on a Monday morning. It is clothing optional, so keep that in mind. What annoyed me was that I got overcharged. I got charged for something in the mini bar that I didn't use and I got double charged for one room service. I reached out to them and they said they'd get back to me and nothing. Then I filled out the survey and mentioned it and they said they'd get back to me but nothing. That stuck with me as something that was annoying and frustrating after a great experience.
