Dr. Mufson's hands shook badly during the procedure and before I could stop him, he broke my tooth and I swallowed the broken pieces. He gave no apology and his assistant, Loretta, who is also his wife, hustled me to the desk to immediately pay. I was stunned. I tried disputing his charges on my credit catd but got nowhere. I found out afterwards from an aquaintance of mine that Dr. Richard Mufson left a piece of bone in her mouth causing her an emergency visit to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Do not use this oral surgeon under any circumstances. This money hungry dentist also took CT scans and x-rays that I just had done a few days before to grab more money from me with no dental insurance (I didn't need the additional dangerous radiation either). Don't believe those old 5 star reviews. This older man's hands shake terribly. He needs to immefiately retire.

I am from out of town and I have a lot of anxiety about dental work because I have had some very painful and aggressive experience experiences in the past. This was the very best care. I didn't need my headphones to block the sounds of the drill. They took my insurance and put in my claim for me. I am a 57 year old nurse. I've met many doctors and I've been to many offices. This office is a well oiled machine. From the receptionist to the dental hygienists and everyone in between they had smiles and a very professional and positive attitude. This appointment was an emergency situation and they made time for me within 24 hours. They have been such a pleasure that I will try to be in Miami for all of my future dental needs rather than in my home town. I wish That I could give them more stars. They are beyond superior. He had to redo the work on my husband and charged my husband again. I had a procedure done during the last week of December 2014 because he rushed me in so he could collect from my insurance company for that year, then again for the following year. Needless to say, he works in a very rough manner and I was a bit uncomfortable with the way he treated his employees but I just figured that maybe they weren't doing their job correctly. Seven months later he sent me a bill for that procedure and he explained that the insurance didn't cover it. I asked repeatedly for my dental records so I could try to collect from another insurance company that I have and they continuously refused. I requested it in writing, then he said that I had to pick it up in person. Which of course, I wouldn't do. I still haven't received my dental records as I requested so I proceeded to file a formal complaint against him. I wouldn't go back to him if he offered it for free! He examined me, charged me $100.00 and I was assured that all the paper work was previously completed, Medicare covered the appliance, and all else was ready, I would get my appliance within 2 to 3 weeks. It is now October and I have not received the appliance or bin given an explanation why. I call the office frequently. When I leave a message, they are never returned. When I get some on to talk to I am assured that they will get to the bottom of this and they will call me back shortly. I never get a call back. I am often given excuses as to why: the plates are on the way but there is a storm in the west, our AC is out, etc. Lately, no less than 4 times, when I ask for the person supposedly handling the case, I am told that coincidentally they are on the other line with the lab right now and will call me back in a few minutes. I resent the unprofessional treatment and lies. I do not trust this office or its staff. I do not know how they can advertise that they supply the sleep apnea appliance and that it is covered by Medicare, etc. Certainly their standards are very poor.
