Beware **** I trusted this man (let's be honest he's not a real doctor) and paid him $20,000 to DISFIGURE ME. MY FACE is destroyed. DESTROYED. I came to him for a nose job and chin reduction, please don't trust him with either. My nose is at best OK, my scars are visible and my nose constantly runs. But I'm willing to live with this and wasn't even going to mention this because compared to the damage he has done to my chin- my nose is nothing. I will never look ok again. I have to live with what he's done to me for the rest of my life. People often think I was in a fire or some sort of accident(see pictures). I was unhappy with my chin immediately. He put me off and put me off for over a year, I drove the almost hour long drive to his office and he would look and say "ok, well you're still numb, I'll see ya in 3-6 months". Let's be clear- it's been 3 years and I'm still numb. I WILL NEVER HAVE FEELING IN MY CHIN AGAIN. After complaining every time- and he wouldn't listen, in FACT HE BLAMED ME FOR KOSING WEIGHT, which became the beyond annoying. Shaming me for losing weight- why is my weight an issue??? Fact is, he messed my face up and is looking for anything to blame. I REFUSE to be blamed for what his hands have done. For HIM disfiguring me. I'm having a hard time even writing this review because there's so much to cover and it upsets me to tears. I no longer leave my house like I used to, I won't take photos, I hide my chin every chance I get. It's caused relationship issues because I now feel hideous and unworthy of love. I've had to seek out a psychiatrist to help me deal with this. I dont care if anyone thought I was ugly or pretty, I care how I feel when I look in the mirror and the fact is - IVE TAKEN DOWN 90% of the mirrors in my home because of him. I simply can't stand to look at the destruction he has caused. I went to one last follow up, I prayed, I got blessed before I went, I cried and cried the entire way there because I knew he would not fix it and I knew he would shame and blame me about my weight again. This man has ruined my life. PLEASE PLEASE there are millions of plastic surgeons, do your homework and DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN with your precious body. I know it's exciting to think about getting that surgery that you will spend thousands on and hope it makes you feel better about yourself, but he is not the one to trust. See my pictures please. He did this to my face. And now I have to not only live in pain because I promise you my scar hurts and I can't even use my neck properly without a sharp pain and a lot of discomfort, but I'm embarrassed and ashamed of my appearance. This has hands down been the biggest mistake of my life. I will never recover. And I will never feel pretty again. I'm disgusting. Please do your homework. Because had I read these reviews before I handed him $20k and my face, I NEVER would've stepped foot in that office. Please read the reviews. You are good enough the way you are. Dr Lapuerta is a highly skilled excellent surgeon. My time off from work is 6 weeks due to not being able to lift push or pull more than 10lbs. I age an airline job that is very specific about what is need for me to be excused with time off and pay. I stayed what I needed from the stuff the day of the surgery and was told they do this all the time and it will be taken care of. My employer called back needing a revised Dr note within 48 hrs of my procedure. ( it's been 24 hrs ) I stayed this to whoever I talked to and she said it would be Tuesday which is 4 days out and would not be in the time frame I needed my Dr note. When she was not listening to my needs and being solution oriented I asked her to please listen to me and my needs. She hung up on me! I tried calling back several times and she let it go to voicemail! I have never been treated this way by someone after paying several thousands of dollars for a procedure. She is very unprofessional and rude. As for the other staff members and the Dr. They are great. If I could rate this Doctor with ( -0 starts) it wouldn't be good enough. He and his staff were very friendly when doing assessments during the initial consultations. However, this ended after the surgery. This doctor is a Pompous ass. I went to this doctor because I needed to have my breast augmentation re-done. Though my breast were still beautiful, and perfectly shaped, they were over 30 years old and it was recommended that they be replaced as per my family physician. I ask Dr. Lapuerta if he could do a replacement augmentation using the exact same size breast implants that I had because I was extremely happy with them and their appearance. He assured me several times during the consultation phase that it would not be a problem and I would be happy. After the surgery I was very unhappy because he implanted much larger breast implants than I had before. The breast implants he used were 85 cc larger. My original breast implants were 240 cc. He implanted 325 cc implants. I was so disappointed after surgery. When I expressed my concern, he dismissed my concerns saying that they looked wonderful, and they were only larger because of swelling. He told me to give it a couple of months and the swelling would go away, and I would be happy. No matter how I tried to explain to him that I was not happy he would assure me that everything would be ok, and If I was not happy, he would replace them at no charge. After a couple of months had passed and the swelling left the results were the same. I feel that my breast are now ugly and big. I am a petite Asian woman, and they are much too large for my small body. (All I wanted was a simple replacement of the same size implants), and he took it upon himself to use a much larger size. When I ask him why he didn't use the same size replacements, he said, "I didn't have that size available". He told me, that if I am not satisfied, he would provide his services for free, but I would have to pay for the Implants, and the surgical facility as well as the anesthesiologist and their services. He refused to accept responsibility for his decision to use a larger size without consulting me, knowing that is not what he agreed upon before surgery. While in tears and emotional pain, I said that he should have to provide the services and the cost at his expense because he was the one who made the mistake, he became rude and raised his voice at me and told me that "crying will do me no good, and that nothing is free, go somewhere else to get it done". I left his office that day crying and feeling as if though I had been cheated, and my body was not important to him. Only money is important to this doctor, and he refuses to take responsibility for his poor decisions. All I wanted was a simple replacement using the same size implants. Because he didn't plan properly and have the correct size on hand the day of surgery, he decided to use a larger size he had on hand instead of rescheduling the surgery and losing money because of his error. He is rude, and inconsiderate of other peoples' feelings. He is polite and professional until someone says, they are not satisfied. Then he becomes a different person. This doctor refuses to take responsibility for his mistakes. He gives the impression that he is above having to accept his shortcomings. I will NEVER recommend this doctor to anyone. read more

I received a call this morning cancelling my mole (skin cancer) consultation scheduled for Monday. I made this appointment over 5 months ago! I did not make any other appointments because I was referred. Now this has been cancelled, I will not be able to find a reputable surgeon this year. This is HORRIBLE service and I am incredibly shocked this is how you all do business as medical professionals. At the very least, your group should have provided another doctor that could see me. I was embarrassed to put this up, but if it can help others then so be it!!! If you notice that the bottom of one is already opened. Therefore, the scar is already starting off wide. This is opposite of what he assured, to make the scars more narrow than the original. He has NO PRIDE in his work!! He didn't offer to redo it. I alway try to read reviews before choosing certain places and this one seems to be ok. I was told that $100 fee was required for the consultation. I thought the fee was going to be kept in case I did not show up and it would be given back when I arrived, I was told no. The fee was non refundable nor was applied to treatment. So as a new patient giving a practice my money with no obligation of returning it was concerning. In the end it was my choice to consent to the consultation but it did have me on edge going into my first appointment. But after coming it I felt my consultation fee was well spent. The staff was comforting and listened to my concerns and even recommended treatment I never even thought of. I definitely will be going back for treatment and would recommend the practice to others. read more

I was very unhappy with the results of my surgery by Dr. LaPuerta, he did a chin reduction and reattached my chin crooked. It now points to the right of my face. He also shaved too much off to where it is too small for my face. I was, and still am, completely crushed. When I showed him x-rays from after the surgery, he said he would do another surgery to fix it and quoted me a price that was more than the original chin reduction. I have to say that his demeanor changed toward me when I was unhappy and I had the x-rays, I had proof that my chin was crooked. Yet, he still wanted to charge me. read more

Great doctor. This man knows what he's doing. He worked on me back in 2015 and did great work. He's also very friendly and easy to talk to. Unfortunately, his front office is the worst front office I've ever seen anywhere in any field. The robotic friendly tone from the receptionist feels nothing short of condescending. If she senses any tension at all, she hangs up on the patient mid-sentence and simply lets the next attempt at a phone call bounce to voicemail. A return phone call, or a return email, or pretty much any concern for the patient from this front office is on par with winning the lottery. The front office will not allow direct contact with the doctor (even by email), so there's no way for Lapuerta to know why I took my $25,000 for a second surgery and went elsewhere. Back in 2014, I got a rhinoplasty from Dr. Lapuerta and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. After surgery, I was in a "back room" at his office recovering versus being in a hospital recovery room. I woke up vomiting on myself and being wheeled out in front of the guests in his front office. I was in excruciating pain the week following surgery and the pain medicine was not working. Not to mention, he completely botched my nose. I wanted an extremely MINIMAL change, but was left with an upturned pig nose. I had a huge scar in-between my nostrils that was told would "go away." It never did. Over the years, I noticed the bridge of my nose gradually was concaving and developed what felt like a piece of bone poking out directly underneath my right eye. This was due to my nose completely collapsing due to the surgery done wrong. Since my bridge and right nostril had no structure, I struggled to breathe out of my nose for years. Also adding this led to horrible confidence in myself and made me even more insecure than before my surgery. I say all this because I just recently got a revision rhinoplasty and it has been night and day difference. The recovery was seamless and painless. My current doctor had to essentially restructure my entire nose. Not only do I feel so much better being able to breathe, but it looks so natural, which is all I wanted in the first place. If you are considering getting a rhinoplasty from Dr. Leo Lapuerta, I would STRONGLY urge you to look elsewhere. I would advise you to look for a surgeon who focuses in facial cosmetic surgery, versus an "all in one" plastic surgeon. read more

On the off chance that someone Yelps their plastic surgeon, I'd like to offer my deepest respects to this doctor. I had my reservations at first. I've always visited a female gyno for similar reasons, and it was a bit difficult for me to come to terms that I may be getting breast surgery from a man. I'm so glad that I chose him for my surgery. I had requested information from several Houston plastic surgeons, male and female, letting them know that I believed I may have a mild form of breast hypoplasia(tubular) breasts and that if I did I needed someone who knew what they were doing in regards to that. I'm so glad I went with Dr. Lapuerta. Really. I drove in from Greenspoint(where I live) some days, and some days I drove in from the Energy Corridor(where I work) and I couldn't ask for a better doctor. I'm about 5 weeks post op, and he was the one that caught that the IV antibiotic that the nurse was giving me was too close to the one that I'm allergic to and we didn't know my reaction to it(my mom had always just said I was allergic to it). For the first time in my life, I have cleavage. I'm still in a Fruit of the Loom sport bra(per the nurse), but I look down and instead of the tiny A cups that didn't fill up anything, I see flesh. I see cleavage. I see a woman. I'm a curvy woman as is, but when your breasts don't form the way you would expect(my mom and sister are both above G cups and looking at reductions). My only issue now is patience. I'm nulliparous. Dr. Lapuerta was very understanding that I wanted to see results, but I feel like he knows what he's talking about. Right now, I'm waiting on the implants to drop, which he said could take up to six months since I've had no kids, so for now, I have what myself and my boyfriend affectionately refer to as "linebacker boobs." I'm so impatient, but I know it's going to be worth it. My scars are minimal. Especially since I think I chose the biggest implant that my body could handle. I'm so happy. Really. They give you his cell phone number if you need something, which thankfully I haven't(and I don't think I will) but he is clinical without being unapproachable if that makes sense. Like, I never felt uncomfortable with him, even as he's got a measuring tape at parts of my body that have been seen by literally 6 people(not including whoever was in the operating room). It may be a bit of a wait, because he is fantastic. He is worth the wait. In two weeks, I'll do my first bit of exercise post-op(a 1.5k walk) and I'll start back on my diet. Once I reach my goal weight and tone, I may be back if my skin doesn't pop back within a year. I hear you're supposed to give your skin 18 months to pop back after weight loss, but if it doesn't, I'm back with him for the tummy tuck. I know this review is like a book and I'm so sorry, but I've had two doctors in my life that that trust as much as this man, and the other was my gyno who retired. If you are thinking of any cosmetic procedure, check him out. Sure his website is kind of gimmicky, but he's worth it. I deeply encourage you to at least have a consult with him. He's amazing. I wish I could get my mom and sister in from Mississippi in to do reductions with him, he's really that awesome. Give them a call. Absolute perfection. Dr. Lapuerta was my last hope for a breast reduction. I had gone to several other doctors in the Houston area and I wasn't impressed or confident enough in their skills to let them operate on me. The office staff are welcoming and incredibly helpful. They took care of everything for me and never pressured me to get me into the OR as soon as possible. It was all about when I was ready. I could not have asked for a better outcome from my reduction. I went from a 36 H to a 36 D and my new boobs are perky, perfectly shaped, even and exactly what I asked for. Don't do Botox there, it's just steal your money, I injected twice there and didn't get any results, first time was injected me 25 units for $325, I waited a month but I didn't get the result so I called them to explain the problem and then was injected me again 5 units for $65 but no result, I don't think they inject all the units we buy or diluted it, because after injected there in less than 2 months and I didn't get any results, just a waste of time and money read more

This place is unprofessional. Tried scheduling surgery in 2020 but my carpal tunnel is considered elective so I was denied. After 2 calls to follow up I was never called back and my 3rd call I was told that I would have to start over again. I asked simple questions on why but was told it is just a rule, I asked what the rule was.....couldn't answer that. Then receptionist asked if I wanted to make an appt or not.....4 months later mind you. So wasted time and money and no surgery. I would urge all ladies wanting a tummy tuck to look elsewhere. A very bad experience that cost me 9 months on home healthcare and visits to the hospital. My tummy tuck was a disaster and disfigured me. The aftercare from this doctor was not successful and lead me to seek infection control after the incisions opened due to too much skin being removed, and became infected. The doctor offered no concerning follow up and no remorse for my disfigurement. Think Twice Ladies! About this doctor for a tummy tuck. Its major surgery!! I wast not the one who got surgery my mom did. This review is based on my moms experience only. Surgery: under eye bags removed. Dr. Lapuerta offers financing options and spoke Spanish, something my mother was looking for. He treated her with respect, kindness and all the attention she needed. He goes above and beyond for his patients, after surgery my mother was concerned about one eye (she's never had any type of surgery). She called him with her concern and not only did he answer her promptly and explained everything, it was during a holiday. A doctor willing to answer calls at any time gets an A+, it show how professional and caring he is. He explained all the risks and types of procedures, and exactly what she will go through during and after surgery. He did an amazing job, listened to all her questions. Checked up on her weekly, and then monthly. My mother met with him (consult)To learn about him and the surgery. He exuded confidence, and string knowledge along with his staff. I have been going to Dr. Lapuerta for at least 3 years. I had eyelid surgery a couple years ago and occasionally have gotten Botox and Juvederm injections. Does great work and offers injection specials. I have gotten so many complements on his work and have sent several referrals. Dr Lapuerta and his staff are amazing!! I have been contemplating having a breast lift for many years so my husband sat up an appt with another doctor in the area. I kind of felt like I was just another pt. I work in the medical field and can tell when a doctor is just going through the motions. So I started researching other doctors in my area. I called and explained my tight window of surgery opportunity, Dr Lapuerta fit me into his schedule for my initial visit. I felt very welcomed and informed on what could be done with my breast. I had a week off coming up the next week and Dr Lapuerta was able to fit me in for surgery also. He did an amazing job!!!! My breast look young and perky again..and no implants were needed. First visit with this doctor, very disappointed. . Made apt for "Botox & Juvederm Party". Waited almost 2 hours pass my appointment time. Doc admitted they had over booked. Only spent 10 minutes or so with me. Don't feel like I received the attention that I should have. Juvederm shots were hit and miss. I now have a lump up under my lip. Feel like if he had taken a few extra minutes to move product around with fingers ( like I have had done in past) it might have helped. Also, botox didn't seem to work very well. I have had all this work done in the past with a different doctor and didn't have any of these problems. Went back a week later to see if anything could be done with lump under my lip. The doctors suggestion? I need to spend at least $1500.00 more to get everything "fixed". Left feeling very ripped off. I just really feel like his "Parties" are nothing more than cattle calls. Get them in and out as quickly as possible regardless of quality of care. Wont be back and wont recommend this doctor to anyone. Sorry I ever used Dr. Lapuerta. read more

I rarely give 5 stars here, but feel like I need to offset the other review I just read that blasted Dr. LaPuerta. The first time I saw him was for a breast reduction. He also performed a lower blepharoplasty that a previous dr had performed poorly. In addition, I asked him for a bit of Botox - my first- and was really happy with all the results. He and the office staff answered my many questions and helped alleviate my anxieties-they were all most helpful and courteous both before and after the surgery. I've been back 3 times to his Botox parties and will say that I waited a long time the first visit, but he still took time with me. The next afternoon visit didn't take as long, and this morning's was a breeze. He has not tried to sell me more than I've asked for, but given me choices if I ask for more (I can only guess that patients like me are the reason why his afternoon appointments tend to run behind). His calming and professional demeanor earn him high marks in my opinion! read more

I was referred to Dr. Lapuerta by a colleague for carpal tunnel surgery. His front office staff was professional enough, however, I had complications from the surgery and they never followed up or checked on me once! My incision came apart and did not heal for over 6 weeks. I still have a lot of pain in that hand and 50% less strength than before the surgery. I contacted the office staff and the doctor and they were less than concerned. I was very disappointed in the follow up care and regret letting a plastic surgeon peform hand surgery on me! If I had to do it all over again, I would totally rethink Dr La Puerta. I was supposed to have an augmentation and a lift on the right side and I went in to surgery thinking that's what was going to be done. Came out of surgery with no lift even after I paid everything upfront cash. Dr La Puerta told me he thought the implant would be sufficient enough and we could wait until my 6 week post op to revisit the lift. At that appointment he said the lift needed to be done and it was going to cost me an additional $4500.00!!! I am now going to see Dr Polsen in League City to have this fixed. Very disappointed because now I'm having to go back under when all of this was supposed to be done the first go around. I suggest you know EXACTLY what is going to be done while you are under and have some sort of back up plan when its not done right. I absolutely love this group! I've been a nurse for 43 years and very skeptical of the business. Had gastric bypass surgery and lost 125 lbs, which hung unflattering! I had seen 2 other plastic surgery groups and didn't connect with either. Not here! Everyone from Brandi, Patient Coordinator to Madison, RN to Sonia who greets you at the front desk. I felt like family! Everything was explained in detail and understood all that was to be expected. Meeting Dr. Lapuerta was like meeting an old friend! Made me very comfortable and in good hands. When a physician knows they have fleece lined robes, it was the coldest day of the year, tells me he is involved in all the details! After examining me, he said " Oh we can make this all go away and look beautiful!" Music to my ears! And that's what he's done. I hate needles so that's important to me. They occasionally run specials which are great but the wait can be a little longer on those days. I do not live close to his office and the drive is well worth it. I'd recommend him to anyone. read more
