Pretty disappointed with Lenscrafters, I bought a pair of glasses 8 months ago cost me 400 with my insurance, the frames were 70$ clearly lenses are expensive ...and over super bowl I lost a lens out of the glasses. I called to find out how much to replace it, they told me they would have to replace both, understandable, they might not be same if I didn't, but shouldnt that be up to me ? Anyway I asked how much 358$ with a 20% discount to replace both lens..Outrageous ! that's a huge chunk... the only reason for two stars is because they have a good selection of glasses and they have generally been kind but I took my frames to Costco ... 100$ to put new high grade lenses .. pretty much lense crafters lost my business read more

I guess the one star would be a mercy one, and necessary to write a review. Real though this place sucks! I mean seriously sucks! First off I would like to acknowledge the less than excited staff, that are hands down the most useless people in existence. No exaggeration here either! I would be embarrassed if I owned this place!! We arrive when the store opened...... Walked in......(cricket, cricket)..... Hello?!? "Hey you person with the name tag staring into space!!!! Hello?!?!? May I see...." He slowly wonders off into back of the store sort of hissing behind a wall." Stealthy lil S.O.B.! Not!! 2 hours later.... ( yeAh really) we finally get to see some. We then reluctantly place an order,(No choice, Asian, blind as hell, and need to drive). One hour? 2?3? Naaaaay! I call at 5, on hold soooo long I arrive at the store still on hold to see genius and his fellow awesomely crappy service people, standing. Doing nothing! Not even answering phones!! Glasses ready? UPDATE- Downgrade to ZERO stars. I decided that i just wanted to purchase my contacts on my own, so I asked to get my prescription from them, and forgo the followup visit. The optometrist REFUSED to give me my prescription unless I return for a follow up! Outrageous!! I tried to plead with her and explain that its impossible for me to have time to do an appointment during their business hours, even weekends, but she refused. I paid for my examination, she gave me contacts for my eyes based on theexam that I paid for and now I want my prescription!!!!!! -------- ORIGINAL POST: So I heard that Lens Crafters was great and inexpensive, but when I went there, it took over 2 hours for my eye appointment! Let me be clear, the people that work there are SUPER nice. However, I felt really pressured by them to buy all their stuff and get the more expensive options. In the end, even with refusing almost every expensive option, I spent way more than my insurance will cover. All I got was glasses, an exam, and a prescription for contacts. I'm supposed to go back for a contact re-exam where they can again push buying my contacts through them. Also, they mostly only sell higher-end frames. My husband and I have been coming back to this place year after year receiving nothing less than excellent service. The staff are always very pleasant and professional. Jordan was the person who tested our eyes on Saturday. He's very thorough and explains all of the tests and the purpose of them automatically. Dr. Jeff Cohen is the best. He goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable with every phase of your vision concerns. I came in to check on the price of glasses/contacts. An employee with super bright dirty red hair stated she would help when she was done, so I waited in the front by the doors. She did not look professional at all. While I was in line, there was another customer that cut in front of me that had previously cancelled her appointment. She cut in front of me right as the frumpy dressed employee walked over. Then the employee opted to help her instead of me when I was there first which was obvious...since I had been waiting alone for 10 or so minutes..Which resulted in me not being able to be get seen by the optometrist...since NOW they were booked. I was there at 10:20 on April 14th. There was a glitch with my insurance which was solved by 11:00am. None of this was Lens Crafters fault. What made me so angry was the girl and th two people she was training were all laughing about it. When I called them on it they said they were talking about something else.They eventually admitted it. They said they were sorry but I'm fairly certain they were only sorry I heard them. I can't believe a trainer would be so unprofessional. I was humiliated. I've been going there for years and I will never go back. read more

UPDATE: the next day the string around my new lens broke. Now many might say, "This guys experience wasn't great!" BUT, it's what happens after that matters. It's how the business deals with your issue. Back to this ... So I walk in at 7:30p after a long day at work, I just wanna go home with my vision in tact. I ask if they can fix it but unfortunately the lab techs had just left. The guy behind the counter checks my account and finds out I bought the 1 year warranty plan (always buy the warranty people, trust me) so he walks over to the wall, finds my frame, brand new, pops out the fake lens' and puts my prescription lens' in. Voila! Brand new glasses. NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!! They have me for LIFE!!! read more

I want to acknowledge that we received better "care" on our 2nd visit. My husband went to Lenscrafters, because I recommended the optometrist there. However, I suggested that he NOT buy his prescription here due to my experience (yelped). He did anyway, and the same two women managed to "trick" him into an $85 purchase of reading glasses, though we could obtain 100% coverage through our insurance. These particular ladies told him there was NO lens completely covered with our insurance plan - untrue. He could not read the small receipts, because it's a small font. What they "charged" him for was an "upgraded" polycarbonate material ($85 copay). I returned with him bringing along in our Benefit Summary, as Lenscrafters is a IN-NETWORK PROVIDER with our plan. Another associate acknowledged that the standard lens IS 100% covered. However, we opted for a PROGRESSIVE lens (rather than a SINGLE) and that required a $65 co-pay. We decided to order a progressive lens for me too. Unlike my husband's glasses, mine were not ready the same day - they said the lens cracked and they needed to order a new set, which could take more than a week ... I'm currently waiting. They didn't talk us into the "upgraded" polycarbonate lens, because I was talked into it with my prior purchase (Oct 2013) - they'd said it is a better lens for the eye and more scratch resistant. Despite my care of these glasses, they have a scratch. I keep them in their case, even though I need to repeatedly take them on and off. I clean them only with the special solution and cloth that I bought at Lenscrafters. My polarized sunglasses that I paid $45 at Costco and have had for 2+ years do not have scratches though I toss them in and out of my purse, without a protective case. read more

I have a major problem with my vision that optometrists at Lenscrafters missed during yearly eye exams for years. Very upset these problems were diagnosed earlier. Had an eye exam 3 months ago and my vision problems were dismissed by the optometrist as being normal and age-related, but it isn't. read more

I got some rayban wayfarers for $220, then I found them at an other store for $105 exact same ones, I call them and wouldn't match the price because 30 days had pass by since my purchase. They told me they didn't give discounts or coupons but Lenscrafters website claims AARP discount of 40% off, AAA 30% off. Without realizing we were being misinformed I went on to buy a $725 pair of Oakleys. Two weeks later on Galapagos they were lost. Once again they claimed they didn't do coupons or discounts. They wouldn't even roll over the warranty after 2 weeks to a new pair. At that point we walked out. It seems some people don't want to stay in business. read more

Arrived at 3:55 for a 4:00 appointment. Guy with a sales manager on his name tag ( didn't get his name) gives me a clipboard and asks me to fill in my info. When complete, I placed the clipboard back on the counter and sat down. A minute later he walks by and I tell him I put the clipboard back. He just give me a blank stare and walks over to help someone on the floor. He then proceeds to take multiple phones calls. Come 4:30, he says goodbye to his co workers and walks out the door. Never acknowledged me after first contact. I decided I had enough and walked out right behind him. As we walk through the parking lot, he turns around to see who is behind him and still does not even acknowledge he left a new customer hanging. Worst service. I came in for my daughters eye exam and possibly getting a pair of glasses. The guy that helps us looked very miserable and was extremely rude. What was supposed to be a great experience was ruined by this jerk. First before anything they whisk my daughter for a pre exam without running my insurance. The guy and I tried to run my insurance but he seemed be be dreading every second of it. It was very uncomfortable. No customer should ever feel like they are wasting an employees time. He was very impatient, so I decided to call my insurance to clear things up. The rep from my insurance was very friendly and offered to speak to this guy to explain my insurance but he refused to take the phone or call the 1800 number my rep was giving him. Instead he kept telling me to tell my rep this or that. I don't understand the insurance lingo and I wanted him to speak to my rep but he kept refusing to take my phone like if I had some kind of infectious disease or something. I ended up storming out of there. This place is disgusting, their service is beyond disgusting. I have never felt so rejected like this before. Unless you want to feel like scum avoid this place. Simi Valley LensCrafters really came through for me, THREE times, on the same prescription! I originally selected Tiffany (plastic) frames for my new prescription. A couple weeks into wearing the frames, I noticed that they were leaving a strange burn type rash on my skin behind my ears. Very odd as I always pick plastic over metal frames and never had this issue before). So I went back to the store, explained the problem and they let me select new frames. This time I selected Prada (plastic) frames (this would be my third pair of Prada brand frames) so I felt pretty safe selecting the brand. However, these were even worse - this time the rash was over the bridge of my nose and the back of my ears - basically anyplace the frame touched my skin. I was so frustrated as I'm not one who ever suffered from sensitive skin before. But more than being frustrated, I was also embarrassed. I mean how could I go back to them and say, "guess what, these irritate my skin too..." So I decided that I would just use my old prescription glasses. After several months, I decided that I really wanted to wear my new Prada glasses (I spent a lot of money on them after all), so I carefully cut out leather strips and superglued it in all the spots that touched my skin. It worked beautifully (for a while). but after some time, the rash started to come back. Grrr...! So this time I contacted LensCrafter corporate to ask them if there was anything that could be done? I was not eligible for new frames or lenses (though my insurance) for another year. I explained that LensCrafter in Simi already came through by letting me exchange the first pair, and that I don't expect them to do that again - especially since I allowed so much time to laps over. The corp office said that they would have the store manager contact me. A couple days later I received a call from the store manager, and she said that they really couldn't give me a 3rd pair of glasses. Which is understandable, so I asked if they would be willing to put my current prescription into one of my old Prada frames - and she agreed to do that for me. Except, when they went to add the new lens to my old Prada frame - the frame cracked! Just my luck! The store manager really came threw, however. She said I could come in and pick out a new metal/wire frame (not plastic, since the plastic styles are what seem to be causing the rash issue). So I went back to a Tiffany metal frame style and PHEW! so far so good. I am so grateful for LensCrafter's willingness to work with me on this unusual issue. I have been to many LC stores and I used to work for the company. I have a challenging RX and my measurements have to be spot on. I usually end up getting my lenses redone due to inaccurate measurements. I have now purchased 4 pairs of glasses at the Simi Valley LC with no issues! I even exchanged one pair just becaus I didn't like them. They are always courteous and professional. Yes they are expensive but you get what you pay for. I was having trouble adjusting to my new glasses and figured I was just stuck with them. We were at the store having my wife's glasses replaced (under warranty) after our puppy chewed them and were being helped by Maria, so I happened to ask her about my glasses. She took the time to check the prescription with the people in the back, then checked the measurements of the lenses. She believed the measurements were slightly off and because of my stigmatism it was affecting my focus. She had both my glasses and sun glasses re-made and now they are perfect! She even offered to make an appointment with the eye doctor to re-check my prescription if needed. She really went over and above to help me. read more

I was very skeptical about coming in and getting an exam done since it has some poor reviews. I currently don't have insurance so I figured I'd try it out since it was better priced than other optometrist around here in Simi. There were two women working and they were both very nice and helpful, I didn't have an appointment for the exam but they were able to take me right away. I did the full exam and was very please with the optometrist there! She was very professional, nice and I could tell she loves what she does. Felt ignored, I went in yesterday to ask about getting my frames repaired. They could not repair the damage I had (understandable) but the person who helped me couldn't suggest a place I could go to get them fixed. I then asked about what the cost would be with my insurance to get a new pair of glasses through them. I was asked to have a seat and the person I was talking to said that she would look at my insurance and give me some options in just a minute. After that I was sitting for about 10 minutes without any help or a quote on how long the wait would be. The person who greeted me went on to help another customer. I totally get helping peoe on a first come first serve basis but the attitude and lack of communication or setting a reasonable expectation for my wait time has left me with a sour taste for their service. read more

Rare to not be able to think of any negatives about the optometry appointment and the process of ordering new glasses. All employees were very helpful and friendly. Yes, in the past I did order glasses from that big store that begins with a C, but this was just a better all-around experience. The only negative I can possibly come up with is you pay a little more than the big C, but I think they're very competitive with other companies; and you do, in this case, get what you pay for. I called last Friday to see if they had a specific pair of eyeglasses in stock and the associate who answered the phone literally seemed uninterested in helping me. After putting me on hold for 2-3 minutes she jumps back on to take my number down and says she will call me back once she checks the inventory of eyeglasses they have. It is now Wednesday 8-17 and I have yet to receive a phone call. Definitely won't even be attempting to go there and purchase eyeglasses let alone go for an eye exam. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Let's just start off by saying this place has TERRIBLE customer service. I work at another optical and needed a mutual patients prescription faxed over & I kindly asked the male who answered the phone if he could please fax over the prescription when he got a chance, this guy must've been having a bad day or something but he was terribly rude, and said he was "too busy" and to call back later. I called back later because that patient wanted her glasses ordered and they were sending our calls to voicemail. I then called again the next day and the male said again that he was too busy and that the patient should have a copy of her prescription. OBVIOUSLY she doesn't have it with her or I would not be calling your rude self that hates your job but guess what? Patient needed her prescription. That is no way to talk to anybody, especially if you're going to be answering phones, don't work in customer service if you have no intent to be kind to EVERYONE that calls the company you work for. I let the patient know how rude they were about faxing over her prescription so she will hopefully never return to another Lens crafters again. read more

Awful. I needed a pair of temporary glasses. They showed me a pair of blue plastic frames that were in their clearance bin 50% off the frames and lenses. The frames were nothing to write home about, but were only $150 before the discount so they could do.- Their entire store inventory was SO small there was nothing else that would work. When I sat down with a guy who said he was a supervisor he started in with his calculator - showed me nothing in writing and said those plastic glasses would be well over $850 with the big discount included. He thought that was a amazingly great price. I got up and left. I eventually spent $180 on a pair of glasses elsewhere that were far more beautiful. Visited Lenscrafters-Simi yesterday PM. Pair of glasses (regular + sun, photochromic + progressive). Over-the-top service. Jamie was professional and knowledgable for both the pre-exam and the fitting process. Dr Cohen (been there about a year) was excellent, took the time to answer all of my questions, thorough exam, equipment is top-shelf. I've bought glasses at Lenscrafters for years in many states. Even with the discounts, you pay a bit more, but speed of delivery and prescription accuracy are very good. This particular Lenscrafters store hits all the high notes, great crew, solid doctor.....highly recommend. read more

I've been a customer for over 4 years and bought 3 pairs of glasses and the cost is so much higher than Costco and the quality isn't any better. Every pair of glasses I've gotten there has broken within a year. I keep going back because it seems so convenient to get glasses in an hour - but then they turn around and tell you the glasses won't be ready until a day or two later. None of the three pairs of glasses I've purchases has been ready in an hour. All three I've had to go back and get the next day. Every time I schedule an eye appointment, it's 1 hour wait. It just not worth the waiting and frustration when it's so expensive. read more
