I had a wonderful time for the most part…read more Let's get the complaints out of the way before getting to the good stuff: 1. Not accepting insurance is unfortunate. 2. I continue to object to Walmart's refusal to accept Apple Pay, manual card entry, or payment over the phone. This caused me to be unable to get my contact lenses as I have lost my physical debit card. Anyway, I otherwise had a wonderful time. The optometrist, Alan, charged a reasonable rate, was very friendly in general, and very helpful during the exam and with recommending the right contacts for my budget and preference. This is probably the best experience I have had with an eye exam. No doubt I will likely return. Also, due to the aforementioned payment complaints, I had a rough time trying to install a WalMart app and get my payments to go through, but Wendy, the woman helping me, was way more patient with me than one would normally expect. I most likely annoyed the heck out of her, and I most certainly took up a large amount of her time, but she was truly great.

If you know you need glasses, then maybe this place is for you! 20/25 vision and yet I need…read moreglasses because I "can't see"? The technician was wonderful. She is excluded from the rest of these comments. The glasses specialist has a salesman personality, but seems kind. Dr. Daniel O'Dowd is rude, cocky, and does not even listen to his patients. He told me I needed glasses to see all the time, which is a flat lie (you are not required to wear glasses if you have 20/40 vision in one or both eyes in NC). Basically, they knew I did not have experience with eye care professionals and took advantage. I purchased glasses because I believed them. I called to cancel the next morning (I had a late morning appointment - so not even 24 hours later) and they refused to give me a full refund. Claimed there was a restocking fee. They also gave me a hard time getting my prescription. When I read the prescription, I found out that it was for no magnification at all. They will lie, scam you, and take advantage. They will not listen to you, and I am not even sure they did the exam properly. I went to another doctor (not affiliated with this franchise) and found out I have 20/40 vision (20/30 if I strain, but should not do that), but can read 20/20 when using both eyes together and that there is just not a prescription small enough to help me. Do yourself a favor, don't believe them like I did and suffer. Find you a better doctor that actually cares about their patients. Find people that will not lie and take advantage. Either the eyecarecenter TEAM does not care about their patients at all OR they are incompetent and should not be in their respective professions. The office manager will not help you. The glasses guy is just a salesman and this team is PUSHING the sale of glasses - no matter if you need them or not. DO NOT GO HERE, JUST FIND ACTUAL PROFESSIONALS THAT CAN HELP YOU SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Jason Moyer, OD at Clarity Vision in Smithfield. He saw me…read moreduring an eye emergency and truly listened to my concerns. He immediately recognized that the medication I had previously been prescribed by my regular doctor was making my condition worse and prescribed the correct treatment instead. That alone meant a lot, and it made a huge difference in my recovery. I later returned for my annual exam and updated prescription, and once again had an excellent experience. Dr. Moyer is professional, knowledgeable, and efficient, yet never makes you feel rushed. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients. The staff was just as wonderful--friendly, welcoming, and helpful from the moment I walked in. I left feeling confident, cared for, and grateful. I highly recommend Dr. Moyer and the entire Clarity Vision team.
