Cute little non-profit garden. 100% volunteer run. Woman sitting in office was very friendly and informative - provided great history of the garden and information for local tourist spots :) Came here on a Wednesday afternoon and it was very peaceful. Great place to meditate and get grounded! read more

Love this place. Very peaceful and beautiful. Make sure to bring quarters to feed the fish.

Lendonwood Gardens, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dependent on fundraising activities, charitable giving, and donations. It is a beautiful eight-acre botanical garden near Grand Lake in northeastern Oklahoma. Shady pathways meander through more than a thousand types of plants, including azaleas, dogwoods, peonies, hostas, evergreen trees, and more. Go in spring to see the beautiful flower blooms and see the place come alive. May 3rd is their garden party be sure to sign up first for a reservation on their website. read more

*** Review is during COVID-19 *** This is a cool outdoor spot for something different to do. I wish we had gone in spring, when the flowers were more "in bloom", but it still looked nice in the summer. It was sort of drizzling when we went, so we were pretty much the only ones there. So it was really easy to social distance, haha! I imagine that even on busier days, you wouldn't have too much trouble spreading out with 8 acres of space. Plus, they do have some precautions in place as well, like limiting the number of people there at once. Plant and flower enthusiasts should definitely pay a visit! Everything was labeled very well, so if you're super interested in horticulture you'd probably find lots of different stuff here. I'm not much of a gardener at all (especially when it comes to flowers) but it was still cool to walk around even for me. The trail was well kept (as was the garden itself) and there were plenty of benches to sit throughout. I liked how they had different garden areas. I do think they could have been more distinctly separated from the next, but it still worked. One of them is even an "Oklahoma Garden" with things all native (or at least common?) to the area! Other memorable features to me were the koi pond (which you can pay a small amount for food to feed them), a pretty gazebo (I believe they do weddings here?), and bridges with little waterfalls. There is a self guided tour that is pretty easy to follow. I'm really bad at directions and get lost easily, and I could figure it out! You can get a map at the front with numbers that correspond to number signs placed throughout the garden. The self-guided tour is also a good way to see everything quickly/ the highlights, if you're not someone who necessarily feels the need to look closely at every single plant. read more

We went back to atm to get cash to self pay as no one was in the office. A disappointment. Two stars for a few bright spots, such as the butterfly garden sans butterflies and shady benches. It's a bit like an abandoned garden; overgrown, undertended, poorly propagated. When we left, the office was open with a gift shop. However, no one said hello, addressed our needs, or asked about our visit. Someone needs to step up and give a little TLC to what I can see could be a lovely oasis. read more

Very nice place to take visitors. Very peaceful and the price was right! Go in the spring, and fall. Summer is too hot.

I found this place while exploring around the lake and decided to stop by, it only costs a few dollars and it was worth it! The gardens are pretty small but very pretty. My favorite part was the koi pond with fish feed for sale to feed them. There wasn't really a whole lot to do here but it was a nice place to come for some shade, a quick walk and to take some pictures. They do allow you to rent the place out for events and I'm sure anyone who schedules this place for photos, that they'll turn out really nice. read more

According to their brochure and website, Lendonwood is a non-profit organization that is totally supported by volunteers, donations, and a few big sponsors (Walton Family Foundation, Arvest and other area banks). It is open year-round and is free (although a $5 donation is suggested). The garden sets on six acres but it seems so much bigger. The garden boasts the largest collection of rhododendrons in the Southwest. It also contains one of the largest collections of chamaecyparis (false cypress) in the U.S. There are 500 varieties of day lillies, seventy-five varieties of Japanese maples, 125 varieties of hostas, and twenty-five varieties of dogwoods. There were two almost separate gardens (in fact, you cross across other people's yards to get there)--the azalea garden (which truly seemed like the extension of a private property) and The Angel of Hope garden. I am wondering if maybe these people did not donate the six acres for the gardens. If not, what a gem to have right next door. My photos were taken in the summer but I would love to visit this garden during all seasons. It is open dusk to dawn, seven days a week. What a testament to the volunteers who take care of this oasis. read more

We've always drove past this place while visiting grove Oklahoma and it always peaked my interest! We finally ended up going on our way out back to Kansas, and let me say it was one of the highlights of our trip. I've already told my family this place is first on our list of excursions for next years trip!!! This garden is insanely beautiful and magical. It felt like we stepped into another world, one with beautiful flowers, trees, and monarch butterflies. We also had the pleasure of being helped by the sweetest woman on the planet! I'm still upset we didn't get her name, but the blonde hair blue eyed sweetie that worked 07/29/22 around 10 am deserves all the praise! She was so sweet her attitude undoubtedly made the experience that much better. Even gave us more recommendations for fun places around grove. This is a beautiful place for all ages to experience! Would give 10 stars if the app let me! Cheers from two Kansans read more

Old man inside made me pay twice, came through the door on the right side and paid into the box because we didn't see anybody inside ,next thing you know there's an old man chasing and hollering. I'd explained to him that I paid and he insisted I come inside and pay again through the register, don't plan on going back soon read more

My husband Kenneth and I visited a Lendonwood Gardens recently and it was just beautiful. It is a small garden in Grove, Oklahoma and is free, but there is a suggested $5 donation. The day we visited, everything was in bloom and the azaleas were amazing! I love the Japan garden! There is a tea house with a koi pond. You can feed the koi and the location is picturesque. I would recommend visiting Lendonwood Gardens if you're in the Grove area. It's a great place to visit. read more

Being one of the only attractions in Grove, we of course had to stop by while camping at Honey Creek. It isn't a huge area, but you can probably spend about 30 minutes here walking throughout the gardens. They have a $5 entry fee that you deposit in a box at the front. They take cash or check only as they do not have an attendant at all times. I would like to see this again during azalea season as when we went in July there wasn't too much to see. read more

Just out on a road trip and ended up in Grove. We thought about going to har-ber village since its been years since I have been there but on the way, I saw the parking lot for these gardens and pulled in. Free, though they do take donations. They had so many plants and trees, several marked as to what they were. The paths were winding all through the gardens. Every path took you to a new area and all the paths seem to cross. The azaleas were in full bloom and in every color and so big! Definitely visit during the Spring to see the azalea garden. It was beautiful. There was an Oriental garden area with a koi pond and Japanese teahouse. An angel of hope area with an angel statue, a place to remember children lost. We enjoyed the walk through the gardens and spent over an hour there. There is even a restroom facility, a very clean one. I'll try to upload a few pics read more

We just had my daughter's wedding here and these people are just fantastic. They bent over backwards, even working in the rain, to make our event spectacular. We were supposed to have the ceremony and reception in a friends lakefront yard but 2 weeks before he backed out. We called Lendonwood and that was the best decision we ever made. When I first called we were just looking to hold the reception there and the weather was supposed to be partly cloudy in the 70's. A week later the forecast was rainy and 40's. We kept hoping for the best because the day before and after were supposed to be sunny and high 60's. No luck, the day arrived and at 8 a.m. it started raining and it was indeed 40. We were setting up the table in the covered pavilion and ordering heaters for heat when Cindy showed up from Lendonwood. She basically forced me to let her put us inside. They had cleared out a very large house with attached green house, and her staff got out a tractor and helped us tear down and move everything up to the house. OH MY GOD they were so nice! We fit 70 people in there easily and were so glad she forced us to take it. Just the 15 minutes the guests spent in the pavilion left 5 of them shivering. I will recommend this location to anyone looking for an affordable, location, or even if you have thousands to spend, go here, its beautiful. Even on March 11 with weather in the 40's my daughter found at least 10 flowery spots to take pictures. In the sprin, summer, and fall the scenery will be awesome. read more

This is a beautiful place. They even have plants for sale really cheap along one wall. Fabulious spot for pictures. I am renting the Japanese pavilion that overlooks the huge coy pond for my wedding :) read more

We stumbled upon Lendonwood Gardens at one of the worst points in the year, I am sure. Everything was brown, barren, and dead, on December 9th. I'll be honest here and admit that we quickly walked through the gardens and put a few ones in the donation box but did not pay the suggested $5 admission fee. We will absolutely come back in the spring or summer and check it out at a peak time. I am sure it's going to be beautiful, and photos here on Yelp prove that...but honestly I would not waste time stopping here during Winter. It is very much "closed" including the restrooms. They have a handful of holiday decorations but they're mainly outside adorning the fence. Four stars seems to fit for now as I can tell it's a lovely place during other times, but extremely small. You won't kill an afternoon here, no matter how gorgeously lush it is in warmer weather. It's the size of a large backyard. read more
