Almost two years ago I made an inquiry about a personal loan (wanted to see interest rate / payment amount, etc.) and that's it... - OH MY GOSH - we started receiving literally texts and phone calls within minutes after hitting ENTER from various banks / loan companies. Here we are almost two years later and we still get harassed EVERY day from various lenders. We don't want a Frickin' loan!!! Stop bugging us!! Many of them will send 5 or more messages from the same person with the same message but from a different number every time each day. I would never do business with a company who is deceptive and aggressive like this - Lending Tree or any of their cohorts that probably paid for our personal information and Lending Tree gladly shares it. Shame on Lending Tree and all companies associated with them. We are actually going to cancel our cell phone number because of this. I made the mistake of contacting The Lending Tree on line! I thought they were the actual lending institution. THEY ARE NOT-- they just take your info like so many online 3rd party companies --and give it out to ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY!! i we ill keep this short -- ive had over 112 calls. If I could give a negative 100 stars I would. I will say the only person with whom I spoke to was at lending tree was just chill. I did not give any indicative data. I made it clear that was only calling to get information I could prepare myself for what I wanted to do in FIVE YEARS!!!!!! Calls from lenders that lending tree used caller ID and and the name(not my name) i guess came up with my phone number in caller ID. Around 3AM I was full on channeling Samuel L Jackson. F Bombs for everyone I was handing out f bombs like I was Oprah giving away cars. Somewhere around the 60th phone call in less than 24 hours, I became possessed but satan himself. Blasting every caller while asking that my Number NEVER get called again. i was CLEAR when I called lendingtree that I was only calling to get information and I refused to give my name or email because i am not planning on doing anything for FIVE YEARS. Is there a rating lower than 1? Just out of curiosity I plugged info into the #lendingtree website. At every page there was a notice "we respect your privacy." How could I have been so naive. I have great credit, didn't even need a HELOC but thought I'd poke around. Curiosity killed the cat...I would NEVER touch #lendingtree again. Credit karma indicated that Lending tree could offer me a $6000 personal loan for 20% interest. I wanted to get a personal loan that was less than $6000 to consolidate some bills. I contacted Lending tree who referred me to some different agencies. Upon inquiry, I found out that the interest rate of an unsecured personal loan with a credit score that was fair was actually 30% or higher! When I went to check my email again, someone had ran an unauthorized inquiry on my mortgage! I had not even requested a mortgage loan! Amazing, how they try to hook you in! read more

Lending Tree sends out these bait and switch pamphlets saying that you are pre-qualified for a specific amount. Then when you call them, they transfer you to some JG Wentworth who doesn't do the loan you need. Huge scam IMO and a waste of valuable time. Used Lending Tree 15 years ago and it worked great. Tried again in 2021 with 800+ credit and got nothing but endless solicitation calls and emails devoid any legit finance info, options, or answers specific to my inquiry. I left a 1 star review per their email request and it was rejected as "spam". I do not trust them and I have no respect for how they are conducting business--so much so I type here where I can now. I perceive them as 99% telemarketing brokers. read more

Hard to assess, really. With two of their listed "High Quality" providers, I had two vastly different experiences: One a "Zero Star" (One-Star, really, since you can't do Zero) with Soverign Lending Group out of Costa Mesa, CA, and another on the full opposite end of the Spectrum: A Full, unequivocal 5-Star experience with Ben Egenreider of Wyndham Capital out of Charlotte, NC. I couldn't possibly recommend Soverign any LOWER, nor Wyndham any HIGHER. As for Lending Tree, since they did connect me with Wyndham, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here, and hope they scrub Soverign from their recommended list. Standard cautions apply: Caveat Emptor!! Be a savvy shopper for a mortgage or Re-Fi; Do your Homework; Contact Multiple sources (I spoke with five, including my Credit Union); don't EVER accept the first offer you get; and watch the paperwork closely! Received a teaser ad from Lending Tree. For years I ignored these Lending Tree ads but rates right at 3% and hints of even lower rates go me to bite. A solid week of endless calls and emails were all I got in exchange. No offers at the advertised rates. Nothing better than what was available through local banks and credit unions. Thought I would get a listing of providers with rates, so I entered my information. Before the screen with the response even finished loading the first 5 phone calls came in. Then the texts. I have been inundated with calls every hour on the hour from Quicken Loans, Mutual of Omaha and others. I've told them to stop calling but so far, I still get the calls. I have started to track the calls times and plan to contact the state attorney general if they continue to harass me. The page that loaded HAD NO RATES TO COMPARE, just a list of the people you can expect to harass you every hour with phone calls. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT give them you phone number. Do not submit your information to their online solicitation to provide the latest mortgage rates. They immediately forward your query to mortgage brokers.I have since learned that each brokers pays Lending Tree a substantial fee for the lead, hence the aggressive calling as described below. I received 3 calls from different brokers within 5 minutes of submitting the query, In the first hour, 14 calls. I stopped answering after 30 minutes, however, there are continuous retries. I went on the Lending Tree website to withdraw my inquiry. They put me on their Do Not Call list, but the site states that it will take 72 hours to remove my information. read more

Do you want to waste your time and talk to salespeople? Great! Go ahead and give Lending Tree your information on line, and you'll get lots of calls but you won't get what the promise you... The website will ask for some information and then offer "Click to show me the rates." It won't show you the rates. It will ask for another piece of information and say "Click to show me the rates." It still won't show you the rates. It will ask for your phone number and say "Click to show me the rates." That's when your phone line blows up with phone calls from sales people .... who won't tell you the rates without engaging you on the phone for who knows how long. I don't like dealing with dishonest people. I won't be dumb enough to give Lending Tree my information again. I won't work with people who are associated with dishonest people. I'm going back to my credit union, and Lending Tree and the people who work with them can GFT! read more

These guys stink. They ask you for your telephone number to confirm ID. But they really want it to spam you. Once you give it to them you start getting telephone calls every 15 minutes from finance companies not banks. They keep calling day and night. If you don't answer phone they keep trying over and over again. Never received a legitimate rate quote. Just non stop robocalls and telesales call. The FTC should shut these guys down for false advertising. read more

I should have read these reviews before starting my journey. I was looking for rates for a HELOC loan and this site came up. It looked legit but did request a bit more info than I was comfortable with and against my better judgement I proceeded... Within 30 seconds my cell phone started blowing up and continued to do so for days. I was interested in a HELOC but all the calls I received were for a cash out refi. Total BS!! Be very wary. I thought I would put in my information and receive a list of major lending institutions (Chase, Bank of America, etc.) that met my needs and follow up with them. Lending Tree has been spamming me for months on end via email. I receive two emails per day trying to sell me a loan. I have never signed up or contacted this company for any services. I have reported them to the BBB, called and emailed Lending Tree to be removed from their emailing list multiple times. I'm always promised that my email will be removed from their list. I have also unsubscribed to their emailing via their website with no success. This company and it's employees are the lowest form of human beings I've ever encountered. As others have noted, once you have put your information in the hands of Lendingtree, they apparently resell it to the immediate world. I receive multiple calls daily now, and a lot of junk emails from folks who know my mortgage balance. It is a terrible invasion of privacy, and now that the horse is out of the barn, there's no way to stop it. Many of the calls come in as from my area code and some as my area code and local prefix, masquerading as local calls. Avoid lendingtree if you have any alternatives to finding loans. read more

This company needs to start screening their Mortgage Brokers. You're asked to supply some information up front at the website. Once you do it's open season on you. Some of these brokers are worse than car salesmen. Constant Texts, Phone calls over and over every hour and multiple emails. Some of them don't care what time of night it is either. Never before have I experience the racket that is lending tree and I've refinanced or mortgaged homes at least 10 times. Wanted to refinance for a lower interest rate and to pay down and drop PMI. Of course that's not in a banks best interest. I already had a house appraisal that was still valid from my current bank but to get the lower rate they made me spend another $400 on a new one. Ridiculous, but I'd still save more at the rate the said they had. My credits perfect. A week later some guy who appeared to be about 12 years old knocked on my door as the appraiser. He never even came in the house! A week after that his appraisal came in ... $100k under the still valid first one! Pointed out to lending tree that the house across the street sold for $90k more than appraisal two weeks ago and all comps were in line with original. They didn't care! Said those weren't the same (all the house here are built on only 3 models- it was the same) They said the appraiser just 'defaulted' to $20 per sq ft. What?!? Now they needed tens of thousands more to pay off PMI. I asked for a new appraisal. They said no. I sent them my old appraisal, they said no. I escalated up to managers who said no. All the time this dingy girl keeps calling and emailing me like we're moving ahead with this thing despite written and verbal statements otherwise. Horrible! A waste of three weeks of my life. Then they tried to get me to take a 5% down loan with PMI!! These people are unethical and aren't happy unless you put in 50% equity so they're secure. Their appraisers are either being told to do this or are idiots. Avoid this bait and switch company! read more
