Not sure what took me so long to find this hidden little gem but I'm so glad I did. The place seems small from the outside but it's well marked, easy to find and usually had parking right up front. Inside there's only two freezers usually stocked full of linguica, bacon, ground beef and cuts of steak. The bacon is thick cut and amazing, especially the peppered bacon. The ground beef was lean and tasty when I used it in chili. They keep a binder on the counter with all the other items they keep in the back. It's a pretty long list and doesn't do them justice. My favorite so far have been the beef jerky. Can't go wrong with the spicy and teriyaki. My most recent visit they had a cheddar sausage up front which was amazing. My buddy got the spicy sausage and said he really enjoyed it. The also sell local Portuguese bread and seasonings. So far everything I've purchased here has been amazing. This place is predominantly for people who bring in their carcass and they'll cut it up and package it up per customer request. For everyone else, they offer a huge selection of meats, bacon sausages and jerky. Give them a try and don't forget the jerky.

Leg of lamb was very fatty. Not sure if it was australian lamb or was just too mature when slaughtered as too much fat on the leg.

Great service. Took their time making sure I knew what each cut of meat was. They made sure I knew exactly what I was getting.

This company has the best tasting Linguisa on the central coast. They are worth the drive to get there.

I had my first pig slaughtered and cut here. They do not cut like a butchers place or wrap either…read more All other butchers have their own rules, like kosher, closed on Saturday, etc. Very stressful, needed alcohol while waiting. Not prepared at all. Take gloves for bagging, boxing, or however you plan to transport your meat home. They sold us trash bags to transport meat home. Plus, this restroom is pretty filthy and smelly. It was an interesting experience for one time only. Never again will I do this, like I did. I had to recut so it would fit in my freezer, whatever pieces they gave me, meaning they just cut my pig in pieces, small pieces that I could not tell what was what. Never will I come back here.

Because of this, their prices of livestock sky rocketed making it hard to make a purchase of a livestock of your needs. If you are afraid of germs, and need cleanliness, this is not the place for you. You're better off visiting a local grocery store to purchase your meat. The facility itself is old and needs to be updated. Their bathroom needs to be cleaned more often during the day. There is only one unisex bathroom. The stench in the restroom is similar to what you'll smell if you walked through a pig's pen. Their main slaughter house area is a disaster waiting to happen. The room is small. Their propane area for the torches are right next to an area where people walk back and forth. Their sink area for cleaning intestines are filthy and hardly cleaned (this goes for all facilities that I've been to). When working in the sink areas, often times their drainage in the floor gets plugged up, and it back flows. You need to be careful because you will be standing in filthy water. All in all, until there is another livestock place in Fresno that ups the ante on facility standards, and cleanliness practices, Panoche will most definitely have a monopoly over the purchase of livestock for cultural purposes. Until then, two stars is all you get.

When I think of Harris Ranch, I think steaks. That's it. Never would I have thought their bakery…read morepumps out some delicious pastries and desserts. The bakery is part of the country store, which sells such random housewares and souvenir-type stuff. They have a chocolate truffle case on one side and the other side, the pastries and desserts. The pastries looked delicious and I got a few to try. They also have bags of day-old cookies for a good price. Eclair 4/5* I'm not a huge fan of eclairs with the soft fudge on top instead of the hardened chocolate. Taste wise though, it was a good eclair. The cream isn't overly sweet and the eclair itself was a light dough. Napoleon 5/5* If there's something Harris bakery does right, it's flaky pastries. Surprisingly, this Napoleon stayed crispy the entire drive home and survive even in the refrigerator the next day. Many others I've had usually get soggy, but these layers of puff pastry stayed crisp to the end of every last bite. The cream was fluffy and not too sweet, and paired perfectly with the ripe strawberries. Banana Cream Pie 3/5* I love anything banana and just had to get it when my eyes landed on the perfect swirl of whip cream covered in chunks of buttery crumbles, atop a neat little mini pie. However, the pie itself was too mushy. The crust was soggy, with the smoothness of the banana cream, soft banana slices, and rich whip cream, everything combined was too much mush. It was also too sweet. I did enjoy the crumble on top though. That was the only saving texture. Strawberry Cream Horn 5/5* Wow these were so unexpectedly delicious! The horn is super flaky and delicate, filled from end to end with a light strawberry cream. On top, bits of dehydrated strawberries were not only beautiful but added a nice tartness and texture, contrasting with the silky cream. This was a great upgrade on your classic cream horn. Chocolate Chip Cookies with Walnuts 3/5* Nothing special. They tasted better the longer they sat out because they were crisper. I prefer my cookies to have sea salt for that good balance of salty and sweet, but these cookies were just one noted. Next time, I have my eyes set on this towering cake they had on the counter and of course, take home some of those yummy cream horns.

Highly disappointing to see the Country Store as of late…read more We have been going to Harris Ranch for as long as I can remember and I am 52 years old. It feels like our home away from home as we go back and forth from Northern California and to visit our family in Orange County. We always LOVED seeing the store and its unique gifts that filled the entire place. For some time, there looks to be maybe a quarter of what they used to have. So sad... I used to come and find a lot of my Christmas gifts for people during the holidays. This past Christmas, I went in and the place looked desolate. I was confused and wondered if I missed it all? I don't know if Harris Ranch is not doing well, but it really looks like they're struggling if you look at the empty feel of the store. We just left the shop now on our way back down to Southern California and once again shocked and highly disappointment. It was bad.. I really hope that whatever happening there gets better so that the store can return to the gorgeous shop that it once was.
