Also tried the smoked sausage, also very good. The sides I tried were ok. The beet salad was a little too earthy for my taste. Cole slaw was fresh but a little on the plain side. Potato salad good, like homemade, but again fell a little flat for my liking. Huge portions! So be prepared. Meets are sold by the pound or half pound. The single serving size of the sides can easily feed 2. Staff was fabulous- friendly & helpful. I'm glad I checked them out but not sure I'll rush back the next time I'm visiting.

We stayed at the @hyattplace in Lake Travis/Four Points and chose @bestdambbqjoint to take our group for a celebratory lunch in Texas Hill Country. This joint is the real deal, folks! Nestled on the sprawling oasis that is @planetrockvodka on Lake Travis, Best Dam BBQ is serving up some of the best smokey Texas goodness I've ever had. On top of that, you can enjoy vodka distilled on the property by @planetrockvodka From top to bottom, everything was remarkable, and for good reason. Scott, the property/business owner and Pit-master, could not have been cooler and is absolutely hands-on with his product. His attention and love for what he does most certainly came out in the food! It doesn't hurt that the truck staff could not have been any sweeter. Our group enjoyed a little of everything. Sliced Brisket Sandwiches, Rib Combos, Texas Twinkies, Brisket Quesadillas, Loaded Texas Potatoes, and on and on. The food was truly awesome. But what everyone seem to enjoy the most was just a setting. They was a Calf for the kids to pet, chickens to chance, dogs to play with. Along with swings, a playground, darts, outdoor TVs, and on and on. Just such an awesome place to be. This was a very special visit for our group and I personally was not ready to be so blown away. We could not have picked a better hotel or a more delicious place for lunch. Feeling very grateful and full today. Life is good (Pssst, Scott, I'll see you real soon!)

Ribs and sausage were excellent as well, and complimentary sauces, pickles, and white bread much appreciated. The meats sell out fast so get here early! The line is looong but 100% worth it. There's both indoor and outdoor seating in this small but mighty shop, and thankfully the tables turn over quickly so you shouldn't have trouble settling down once you get your food!

I love how people are giving this place a 1 star because they are popular and the line is long sometimes, I mean come one so stupid. This place is small and it's amazing how they can crank out as much bbq as they do. It's impressive. I got almost to the front of the line around 1230pm and they were already almost out of ribs, so go early. I got a 1/2lb of Brisket, 1/4lb of turkey, 3 bones of ribs, and one link of the jalapeño cheddar sausage, my side I did was potato salad. I'll give my honest review down below on each item. Brisket- 1000/10, best I have ever had. It was well seasoned, juicy, smoky, fatty in the right way and just so tender and delicious. Spectacular. Turkey- another 1000/10, it's so juicy and and tender. They season it but not heavily which is great since Turkey is a mild tasting meat. I would definitely get this again! Ribs- 6/10, and I love ribs. To me the seasoning on these was so thick it just overpowered the taste of the pork. All I could taste was pepper on it. It was good but I would personally pass on this item next time. Sausage- 1000/10, again so good. It was spicy due to the jalapeños but not overly, the cheese was nice and there was a good snap to the casing. The smoke added a nice touch to the fattiness of the sausage. Potato salad- 3/10, to me this was not a good take on potato salad. Not much texture in it like celery or something like that and all I could taste was vinegar. I like acid in my food but this is all I could taste. So it wasn't for me. Overall when I go next time I will be loading up on brisket, turkey and sausage! These items are amazing, maybe try another side, their beans looked really good. GO OUT AND EAT SOME BBQ!!

The brisket was juicy with a great smoke ring and bark, and the ribs were tender with a rich, sticky sauce. The mac & cheese and potato salad were solid and tasted homemade. TLDR: Henry's Barbecue is a bare-bones, budget stop by the airport; the food is fine, so it's only…read moreworth it out of convenience. Overview: Located near the airport, Henry's Barbecue is as no-frills as they come: a plain, tile-floored room with basic tables, a small ordering table up front, and minimal amenities. Parking is limited to a small lot. Ordering is straightforward, and during a noon visit, the food took about ten minutes to come out from the back. Food: Prices are the main appeal. With brisket at $29/lb, ribs at $24/lb, sausage at $18/lb, and sides/banana pudding at $3 each, Henry's is in the Rudy's/True Texas BBQ price tier. Unfortunately, the food itself is alright at best. The meats arrived steaming hot, which suggested holding or a too-hot reheat. The brisket tasted beefy but under-seasoned, with a shy bark and more chew than moist slices should have. The ribs were tender and lightly glazed yet short on smoke and salt, landing bland rather than juicy. The regular sausage was moist but a bit tough and carried an off note that distracted from the snap. The sides were steadier. The mac and cheese is a creamy, stovetop style: rich and comforting but one-note. The potato salad was the clear winner: creamy with a subtle sweetness and tang that balanced the plate. The banana pudding tasted like it was made from a mix, light on real banana flavor with firm wafers. The value is undeniable at these prices, but when chains at similar cost often execute cleaner, the math gets tougher. Final Thoughts: Henry's works as a quick, inexpensive plate near the airport when convenience is the priority. If you're after well-seasoned, smoke-forward Central Texas barbecue, there are better options at the same price point. A serviceable stop, but not a recommendation.

My parents loved their chicken fried steak and talked about it for a week seriously. Ha! Also, the peach cobbler is almost like if bread pudding and cobbler had a baby, and it's to die for! I would love to see some more vegetarian (or even vegan) options on the menu, though. We didn't know they had a shortened menu during the holidays, so I was bummed that they had taken the meatless burger option off the menu. I know that it is Johnson City, but with all the tourists, a good veg option would be really appreciated. I did have a delicious tomato soup, though. They have great drinks, too, and they had a few fun ones for the holidays. I will definitely return here with the fam when we are back in town.

Let me first say I wish this establishment well, and hope they have success in their endeavors…read more I was in centex to visit daughter, and suggested a bbq tour of the small towns west of Aus. We arrived at P&C mid afternoon on a Monday. We were touring this and other towns, so only ordered the pulled pork sandwich, side of mac n cheese and side of mashed potatoes w gravy between the two of us. And some extra bbq sauce on the side. The pulled pork sandw comes premade with what looks to be homemade pickles, smoked pulled pork, coleslaw, & bbq sauce. The presentation is fairly impressive. Unfortunately, the taste did not measure up. We had bites of the sandwich as a whole, and also tasted the individual ingred by themself to get a feel for what contributed to the overall. The pulled pork was hit/miss. Some of it was generously smoked & that smokiness came through. Other bites of it the smoked flavor was not prominent. Mac n Cheese - solid. By far the best thing we tried. Super cheesy, flavorful. Nice work! Coleslaw - substandard. I'd say the C range. Pickles on the sandwich - they were thicker and appeared homemade. They didn't seem like they had been left to sit long enough on the shelf for the pickling to soak in. In appearance they were still very close to cucumbers instead of pickled cucumbers. Flavor wise they didn't taste like cukes, but nor did they add a dill-ish or sweet pickle flavor of substance. (Can see the pickles in attached pic, can see the color and texture doesn't look significantly pickled.) Sauce - extremely little flavor. The consistency was not watery, but you had to close your eyes and concentrate to taste what little flavor there was - as though it was watered down immensely. Sauce gets a D. Mashed potatoes & gravy. They served the gravy on the side. The potatoes themselves were good - a little buttery and therefore enjoyable. The consistency of the gravy was mealy - was unexpected, and odd. Lacked the common flavor of a hearty gravy begun with a roux of flour and meat drippings. (Zoom in on attached photo, you can see the mealy and almost-grainy texture of the gravy.) Overall we weren't impressed. The mac n cheese being the best thing is not what you expect at a bbq place. Like I said, we wish the establishment well. But we wouldn't come back when in Johnson City. Final note, the hostess/server was genuinely warm and friendly. She was wearing multiple hats, running around, but was pleasant and engaging.

One thing that makes this restaurant unique is that there are actually cabins situated directly across from the restaurant that you can rent out and stay in known as the Cotton Gin Village. We were seated in one of the upstairs dining rooms with lots of wine on display. One draw about this place is their incredible selection of Texas wines. They also feature some Texas beers and great signature cocktails, even wine flights. We started with Ron YatesCabernet and a martini. They do offer several of the Texas wines by the glass, nothing from CA. There's only a choice of 10 entrées on the menu and 8 appetizers all of which are enticing. They do give you a sample of their carrot soup, but no complementary bread. I decided on the chicken fried ribeye and paired it with the Reddy cab. My wife had the grilled pork tenderloin medallions. The chicken fried ribeye was very tender with plenty of lobster chunks on top and no gristle whatsoever. The pork medallions were equally as delicious and the 3 cheese grits were a perfect pairing. We cleaned our plates and had no room for dessert. We enjoyed every bite and Kyle our waiter was exceptional as our server. We look forward to returning and trying something new off the menu. Perfect place for great food and well-made Texas wine. Informative photos and video included.

This was my wife's birthday and we reserved a table for 6:30 pm which worked out perfectly after a long day of wine tasting. The atmosphere was exactly as we had experienced last time, but this time we sat inside the restaurant instead of outside. It was pleasant, not noisy, and had a very nice semi-formal dinner vibe. Our server (Edie) was very gracious and friendly. She quickly sat us and filled water glasses, brought menus and let us know that there were no specials (my thought was "after all this was a Wednesday night ;0)") There was a very nice card at our table wishing my wife a happy birthday, and Edie brought us a complimentary small serving of a very delicious soup (Roasted Carrot & Ancho); nice touch! I ordered a Hill Country Martini, which was delicious (ice cold with jalapeno-stuffed olives). They do have a date night special offering on the menu, but that would have been too much for us. We decided to each order a salad (I had the Steak Knife Wedge and my wife had the Tejas Ranch Caesar). We wanted to split the 14-ounce ribeye as we had a fairly decent lunch during our wine tour. The salads were large and full of great stuff! The wedge was loaded with chunks of blue cheese and bacon over ice cold lettuce. My wife's Caesar was delicious, and the dressing was perfect. Our steak was cooked to perfection (medium-rare) and served with mixed grilled veggies that were amazing. The steak was perfectly flavored, with amazing char, and mated perfectly with my martini. For dessert, we were provided a free piece of delicious cheesecake (birthday celebration for my wife) and it was very, very good! Overall, this was a much better experience than we had in 2023 and we will most certainly be back for more! Ambiance - 10/10 Service - 10/10 Food - 10/10 Value - 10/10
