Paid for a pre-purchase inspection so I wouldn't buy someone else's problems. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. I found major brake vibration on my first drive, a significant oil leak, and power running board issues almost immediately after taking possession. Instead of explaining how these were missed, Lemon Squad just kept sending the same canned response about their inspection being "visual and non-invasive." I wasn't asking for a warranty--I was asking why obvious issues weren't caught. The customer service was just as disappointing as the inspection. I won't use them again. They could improve by not having canned responses such as it's visual and non invasive. In one of the photos you could zoom in and see cut wires. I diddnt catch it because I didn't think I needed to indirect the inspector's work. All in all it was a mistake ever trusting them! So yourself a favor and just look up local mechanics and ask them to go do it. read more

Very pleased. One suggestion though...appraisal should be an add on. I was considering buying a car from a dealership 2 states away. Called Lemon Squad and paid the $330. 2 hours later the inspection began. Results were in my email 36 hours later. Inspector did a thorough job and included 72 pictures including one if the code scanner results. They also measured the tread depth of each tire and included all findings in an easy to ready report. Lemon Squad saved me the disappointment of flying to Illinois in winter to pick up a sports car only to learn the tires were barely legal after the dealer ad and salesperson repeatedly assured me that everything on the car was mint. The dealership has since refused to replace the tires (3/32nds) or discount their price as they are selling the 2001 Corvette Z06 with 22,000 miles as-is. We are VERY dissatisfied with our experience with LemonSquad. Technically, they DID show up at then very end of the 2nd business day-but sadly, the vehicle sold that night. We ordered the inspection Thursday evening. On Friday, they communicated with the dealer they would be there Saturday. No show. The salesman said he called him, no answer. Monday, at 6:15 pm, they showed up, 45 mins before the dealership was to close. The truck had sold that evening. Super disappointed. And now the email said due to the "effort already put in", we can't have our $$ back. $300. We do, however, have a 90 day window to try again. This truck was super specific and very hard to find. Lemon Squad will not provide a refund when a work order is produced and cannot be completed because the vehicle is not there or they are not granted access to the lot aka scam or whatever bs you can think of. The whole idea of having it checked out is to make sure the vehicle is there right and it decent conditions. Simply put they collect customers money and do not or can not do the inspection when the lot owners wont allow them into a "public" lot to inspect. Lots of post of the vehicles in the auction are not even at the location indicated. Auctions are not really Auctions like IAAI. I am in active search of a vehicle. For 3 weeks now. Land Rover Range Rover CPO. I have no issues with buying vehicles from out of state... And I have done so previously. I ordered 3 different inspections with Lemon Squad in 3 different states over the past 10 days. 1st inspection was seamless. Inspector was interactive on the Lemon Squad website, i.e., information relevant to the order was posted and updated frequently. Inspection occurred within 24 hours, which was ideal. Inspector took a plethora of photos. Sale fell through for a reason other than vehicle inspection issues. 2nd inspection. Occurred within 48 hours. Inspector took a plethora of photos. In summary, deemed the vehicle in great condition with no issues other than two tires. Due to his determination, I signed the purchase documents to be overnighted to the dealership for delivery the next day. That evening, I began going through the 180+ photos taken by the inspector. One photo clearly shows the sunroof in an open position with the interior of the sunroof covering HANGING SEVERAL INCHES DOWN FROM ITS INTENDED / PROPER POSITION. In other words, when the roof retracted, the interior cloth covering did not properly roll back into its hidden position and instead just began "bunching" and hung from the interior ceiling of the vehicle. This defect was NOT noted by the inspector in the written portion of the report including summarization. I immediately contacted Lemon Square (a task in itself) to tell them what occurred. It was an "oops, sorry" type of reaction. (I recorded the call - legal in my state). I immediately contacted the dealership the very next morning. They tried to pawn it off as a non-issue. However, knowing this vehicle (since I have owned another one for more than 8 years), I knew it was a problem. So I cancelled the purchase of the vehicle since I had yet to send them the signed documentation. This inspector's oversight could have cost me several thousand dollars. 3rd inspection. Still awaiting report. It appears that the service provided by Lemon Squad is hit and miss. It depends solely upon the inspector you are getting and their desire to actually perform the task you are paying them to perform. Definitely thinking about filing a claim for 2nd inspection costs. I would leave a zero if possible. Charged $279.00 for a classic car inspection. They went out and did not test drive the vehicle and simply took some pictures and made some global generalizations about the car. How am I supposed to make a 30k decision on that? I paid for an inspection for a reason. The inspector first said that the seller denied him a test drive and was being difficult. But, the story changes after the above claim was justly disputed--keep reading. That story was so untrue that when the inspector refused to take a test drive on his own due to lack of proper insurance (what???), the seller went so far to offer to drive the inspector on a test drive--he was doing whatever to accommodate the full inspection. Here comes the second **cough, LIE or more PC term "story" to further justify the lack of a test drive. They stated that the inspector did not go on the drive with the seller because of DRUGS. Dang, did that turn dark suddenly? The inspector sensed that the seller was under the influence because he smelled! Duh, duh, duh . . . . a new shocking turn of events. This was not a private party type sale! The car is being sold by a business which is a licensed, bonded, insured dealer with great reviews. The inspector had no reason not do do the test drive other than his own issues. . . . whatever that may be. When put "on blast" for not doing it, he came out "swinging" against the seller with many false claims. "Nice" guy working for a "nice" company. It was a Friday, maybe he just wanted to start his weekend early--whatever the case . . . .Lemon squad just lost a customer and now all parties involved are left with a "sour" taste in their mouth. BTW when reviewing their responses, notice how they deflect all negative complaints . . . like they really wish any of us negative feedback leavers pleasant miles on the road. I have used Lemon Squad on three occaions in two states. The reports are generally good, though somewhat "cookie cutter". My only serious complaint is the delay over weekends. I was relying on the reports to make purchase decisions which is difficult to do when there is an additoinal delay because they do not publish reports on Saturdays or Sundays. This results in a report process up to six days from the time of the order until the report is received. Best case this is frustrating, worst case the car is sold to someone else by the time you get the report. This needs to be corrected or offer an expedited report even if for an additonal fee. read more

If I could leave a 0 star, it would be more appropriate. These guys looked at an Exotic Rolls Royce Wraith for me. They missed that the door shock on the driver side was broken, door would not stay open!!! The dial to control anything in the car was inoperable. You can not change anything on the large center screen. The pedestrian monitor system is broken and had a message on the screen. The rear back up camera was inoperable. What a joke. Also the entire back side of the driver seat was broken. There is a black large molding broken on the front fascia of the car. What a waste of my money! I spent $289, $100 more than their regular price because the car I was inspecting was older. They did not catch that the FRONT AND REAR wipers did not work at all. I mean really? That is so basic? The volume on the radio did not work and they did not catch this either. Wipers are a safety hazard if not working. I emailed them to complain and NO ANSWER. I was trying to buy a certain make/model of car to drive to Alaska for my summer job and had to look across the country for one. I found one in Michigan and the salesman told me that the condition of the undercarriage was good. So I booked an inspection to confirm this. The inspector reported that the car was in excellent condition with perfect body and only mild surface rust underneath, so I purchased the car and had it shipped to me. On inspection in person after it finally arrived I found severe rust causing perforation of the frame, pieces of sheet metal that are broken off or cracked through, nuts that are permanently fused. In addition there is a large crack in the exhaust manifold. The dealership said I purchased the car as is and refuse to return the purchase price. I purchased the car as a direct result of the report I received from the Lemon Squad! According to a local certified inspector/mechanic, the car is unsafe to drive and would not pass inspection or be eligible for registration due to its condition. As a result of the car's poor condition, I was forced to search for and purchase another vehicle, forcing me to postpone my departure (and my arrival up there), thereby postponing my start date for my summer job. This has cost me a lot of money as well as lost income. I'm now stuck with an $18k rust bucket, which I hold Lemon Squad to blame for. I'd give zero stars if I could. read more

DO NOT use this "inspection" company! I have already invested over $6k in the vehicle due to mechanical issues that were completely ignored by the "inspector" with Lemon Squad. The numerous mechanical issues with the vehicle make me wonder if any mechanical inspection was performed by the "Lemon Squad". First, stated in the report "The transmission and 4x4 system appeared to work correctly." The 4x4 drive train was never engaged during the inspection. If the inspector would have engaged the 4x4 drive train there would of been a loud knocking noise of the drive shaft and transfer case hitting the cross member between the frame. My professional mechanic had to add spacers and mounts to adjust both the transfer case and drive train so it would not hit the cross member when the 4x4 was engaged. Second, the vehicle engine could not have ran and idled smoothly as stated in the report. When I received the vehicle, it ran very rich and stalled numerous times. As my mechanic disassembled the carburetor there is no way the vehicle ran smooth as the carb was full of muck making it nearly impossible to breathe. Additionally, the spark plugs were fouled. Also the distributor had very little spark as it was missing a clip to create the spark, along with the incorrect gear on the camshaft. My mechanic had to replace the carb, distributor, distributor gear, spark plugs and wires. Third. I drained the gas tank. The tank was full of debris and had to be flushed. Again, not sure how this vehicle ran properly. Additionally, the oil dipstick bracket was not secured to the engine block. When you check the oil, the dipstick moves, thus giving you an incorrect level of the oil. You have to move the dipstick holder into the engine block to get the correct read of the oil level. Was this even checked in the inspection? I'm very disappointed in the so called "inspection" that was performed on this vehicle. I recommend you DO NOT use this company. They will not uphold their contract with you. When you call and email them to discuss the service, they will not negotiate or refund your money, they will claim the service was completed correctly. read more

I had an inspection done December 29th 2020 on a Saleen F150. When I received the report, it stated that several items were working but when I received the vehicle, those items were in fact not working. Examples include interior lights and dash gauges. The report also reported the the transmission shifted fine, which it does not, and no vibration when driving, which it does vibrate violently. When I received the vehicle, it was unsafe to drive due to the vibration and how bad the brakes are. They didn't even bother to check components like the bed cover and factory installed radar detector. All of these components were faulty or didn't work. Lemon Sqauds response is they could have all went bad by the time you received the vehicle since the vehicleis 14 years old. What a joke! I tried to reach some sort of amicable solution but their response was, "nothing we can do". Roger that. Stand well clear of Lemon Squad because they have a loop hole where they can never be held liable. I was in the process of buying a car out of state and decided to hire Lemon Squad. I hired them on Tuesday and was told the inspection would be done on Thursday and I would receive the results on Friday morning. End of day Thursday comes around and my inspection status remained the same, Friday morning came and there was no report. They claimed the inspector tried to get ahold of the seller and the seller was not responding. I should have been told on Thursday an attempt was made but not successful so I could also try and reach the seller. I could not wait any longer especially since the reports publish the next day, I told Lemon Squad to take a hike and refund me for their lack of communication. I ended up hiring a local independent inspector who was able to get to the car that Friday afternoon and he did a very thorough inspection and as a result I ended up not flying down and purchasing the car because it turned out the car had a lot of leaks and hidden body damage. read more

I used Lemon Squad to inspect a used Fifth Wheel trailer. I was informed this is very routine and common for them. Unfortunately, when I had the inspection, I knew nothing about these trailers. I have learned quite a bit since, which led me to write this post. When the "inspector" showed up he was pleasant enough. Upon inspecting the exterior, I asked about inspecting the brakes and was informed it could not be done. After that he climbed up the ladder to the roof, but never actually got on it to check the roof. Now, after purchasing this trailer, based on their recommendations, I have found 2 sections of rot that will need to be repaired. Probably never would have made the purchase otherwise. The rest of the inspection was kind of a joke. Just flipping switched. After seeing this I was not impressed. The worst part was that toward the end of the inspection, I asked the "RV Inspector" how long he had been RVing. His response: "Never, I'm a mechanic". Anyway, now I'm stuck with a costly repair after making a purchase based on the Lemon Squad inspection. Don't use these people!! read more

Unfortunately, my second attempt with Lemon Squad resulted in my purchase of a Lemon. After my first experience I expected another positive experience, but unfortunately they let me down. Lemon Squad operates by outsourcing the inspection to local inspectors near where your potential purchase is located. I guess this time I got a loser of an inspector. The result: I need to buy a new engine. This was a totally identifiable problem that my local mechanic recognized in moments after seeing the car. Look at all the 1-star reviews for Lemonsquad! I am not surprised. I've used Lemonsquad for two car inspections. The first one was in Oklahoma and went well with a prompt, knowledgable inspector and a thorough report. So I decided to use them again. MISTAKE !! The second time was in Ohio. As background, I was buying a classic car from a nice seller who was willing to work with me while I arranged an inspection. So I signed up for Lemonsquad again. The inspector set a date. He didn't show up and he didn't communicate why. Two days later he finally contacted the seller and said his phone broke (seriously? and you couldnt borrow a phone to call and apologize for whatever your problem was?) He set a new date. Then he cancelled that appointment and rescheduled. On the thrid appointment he was 90 minutes late. When he finally inspected the car I was in close touch with the seller. We were PMing back and forth and she suddenly said "He just left". It was 20 minutes after he arrived. There is no way he did a thorough inspection and road test in 20 minutes. I escalated this to Lemonsquad management. They called me and told me about the report that he had filed. So I decided to dispute the credit card payment until I received the car and could see for myself. My car arrived and I checked it out. I found 4 obvious things that even a rudimentary inspection would flag: The radio was not working (I discovered it was not hooked to power at all). The wipers did not work. The horn did not work. And finally, when you pushed the brake pedal the brake lights came on but so did the parking lights / signal lights at all four corners. So I went to log back into Lemonsquad to discuss all of this with someone in 'service'. But I could not log in. So I clicked to reset the password and got a message that my account was disabled. The only thing I could do was initiate a chat. So I did and explained the situation as I have written above. The agent told me that Lemonsquad has a policy that if you dispute a charge, they will freeze your account and not do business with you in the future. Credit card disputes are a very good service of the credit card networks. They let the cardholder and merchant resolve any issues in a structured, time-bound manner. So, while Lemonsquad says I violated their terms of service by disputing the charge, it's clear they violate their credit card merchant agreement on every dispute, and violate their customers' good will and good faith efforts without concern. It's easy enough for me to get a car inspector when I buy a car. But Lemonsquad has made my choice simple - I'll use a local mechanic with integrity. And I will let all my car friends and associates know that I do not trust Lemonsquad and they should steer clear! read more

The car dealer was trying to scam me with a wrong engine installed in a vintage Porsche, claiming it to be a "matching numbers" - sadly the inspector was not qualified and lazy, did not check the engine number although the sales ad stated a different number. The inspector gave a lazy excuse, stating the number was hidden... which it is not on a 911 1974! Also bought a valuation report - It was way off! especially since it was a wrong engine for the year. Had some guys at a porsche forum give their best guess - Lemon Squad was 20.000 dollars off with their pricing! I used Lemon Squad, MN. for a pre-purchase classic truck inspection and bought nothing but many problems. Inspector was either incompetent or unqualified, ,he ticked all the boxes, stated it was show condition, one of the best he had see, but it had numerous clearly visible mechanical and body faults. Company offered little help and was slow with response to my problem. They said they dismissed the inspector, but left me thousands of dollars out of pocket, quoting their disclaimer clause. It seems no matter how wrong they get it, the disclaimer means you only get your inspection fee back. I would not recomment buying a vehicle unseen, but do the homework on who you use. Better to get inspection done by someone who guarantees their inspectors workmanship, otherwise you could be taking a risk, as I found out. read more

Not for PrePurchase Inspection! Cannot Schedule Time, Cannot Cancel, Not Reachable. I liked the idea that they used ACE mechanics. What I don't like is that, unlike other services, you cannot schedule a time. You don't know that until you've placed the order. As soon as I saw that, I tried to cancel. No way to cancel. Their system says there are two messages waiting for me, but their message center says I cannot read the messages except 8A-5P M-F CST. Their mechanics will inspect within a few days and they will create their report when they get home at the end of the day. This is not usable for a used car prepurchase inspection! read more

Do NOT use this company. Their inspector wrecked the vehicle I was purchasing and both the inspector and the company refused to repair all the damage or file an insurance claim. They lied on their written report, never apologized, and refused to accept full responsibility for their actions. In addition, each person I spoke with refused to tell me their title or last name stating, "you don't need to know that." I have job that does not afford me time off time to look for a car. I am the type that wants the best car for the best price. I decided to use a car inspection service that could look at cars around the country so I could focus only on cars that deserved my attention. Initially, Lemon Squad was great. I had them conduct 12+ inspections. A problem occurred when I had a complaint. My first complaint was when a car inspection was scheduled and changed. What I later found out is that they did not want to go to a certain Carvana location because they said it was a bad area. Well, I ended up losing the car after the car inspector arrived late to inspect and the car had already sold. I had to pay for that inspection. When I complained the wife, who is a co-owner, had what most people would call a mental breakdown. She lied and told her husband (a co-owner) that I was belligerent. Once we settled on the fact that his wife was emotional because of a recent family loss, I decided to continue to do business. The last straw was after another inspection went wrong and I complained again. This company had received 1K+ of my money. Instead of being accommodating, they owner told me that he didn't want my business, and went on to berate me and actually made fun of me because I had paid him to do so many inspections. They closed my account and only sent me the last 5 inspection records. They did not give me access to all of the records I paid for. I'm not a passive consumer. I just had too much going on at work and decided that it wasn't in my best interest or the best use of my time to get gorilla on them. At the end of the day, they did not provide me with ALL of the inspections I paid for, and their professional conduct in reacting to complaints could have landed them in small claims court. If you pay a company for a product, they should not restrict access to it. I was so angry that I had to wait seven months to leave a review. All in all, even based on their childish behavior, they are decent for people who only want to look at one or two cars. Decent because they hire inspectors to do the work. They don't carry out inspections themselves. If the owners actually had to do the work, they would have gone out of business long ago. Ignorance is bliss. I am sure there is a market for people like me. You don't have time to shop for a car, so you pay for someone to inspect cars you find. Maybe it's a concierge service, but it is another income source for these idiots to recognize. I didn't major in psychology in college, but I work in a field where I deal with troubled people. The husband and wife team needs counseling and a few business classes. When you have a customer who pays you to conduct unlimited inspections, you don't blow them off. I had two complaints after 11+ inspections, but these people don't like questions. Probably because they don't do the work. Their inspectors do. They not only did not provide me with all of my inspections, but they closed my account. I recorded the owner's phone call where he pontificated his disgust with me. He wasn't disgusted with my money because he kept that, and I dealt with him in a professional manner. So his greed and dysfunctional behavior keeps him in business. All and all, I realized that Lemon Squad consists of a bunch of insecure owners who need professional counseling and education about emerging business models. Each inspector is different. Some do more, and other do less. You have to know what to ask for to get everything you need. Lemon Squad won't tell you this. You'll need to educate yourself and then ask for what you need. I found a seemingly perfect one with very low miles, near my childhood home in Connecticut.I hired Lemon Squad and got the report within one business day.The report was extremely comprehensive with many photos, a written component as to the car's appearance and mechanical condition. The inspector took the car on a test drive and noted issues with acceleration. Using his scanning tool, codes stored in the car's computer, showed a couple of necessary repairs one of them most likely being very costly. The Lemon Squad service was a fraction of the cost of the car and saved thousands of dollars.I highly recommend this service. read more

We had them inspect an RV we were going to buy in Jacksonville, FL. This is a national company without a local office. I am disappointed that the inspector did not ask the owner to connect the unit to a water supply as expected. (I had notified the owner to expect this.) I was also concerned about the awning and had asked that this be included for certain, but the inspector did not open it according to the seller. As a result, some of the key components were not checked at all. I spoke to Lemon Squad about this and they offered to send the inspector back for an additional fee. The inspector did no more than I had already done. I do not call this a thorough inspection. Be warned. read more

Purchase a 1969 Camaro and use Lemon squad to check over the car. The report was so vague and far off from what the car really was. Now I'm restoring a car that was supposed to be 98 done. Don't use this company to review older vehicles. read more

Andy is no businessman (the owner) and is a scam artist - he will hire any mechanic with a name embroidered on his chest. Lemonsquad rates cars from A to F. My BMW M6 purchased from ARC Auto Store, another thief, owned by Jerry Brockhaus, got a B+ rating from Lemonsquad for an evaluation of 1 paragraph. I had to pay the exotic car price point, and so many things were missed, (including water in a 1600 headlight assembly whose bulb kept blowing out. Both ARC and Lemonsquad knew this. I was going to go after Andy after $8000 in BMW repairs, most of which should have been caught by a competent mechanic with Lemonsquad, but see Andy doesn't look for competency, he looks for cheap and to cover areas he doesn't have coverage. Shame on you Andy. You and your business suck royally. read more
