Located on High Street next to Bangor's various drinking establishments it has acted as an oasis for many revelers selling water and cigarettes . The Wee Shop has a night hatch meaning it stays open late specifically to accommodate these needs. More than just an oasis, The Wee Shop is a newsagents and a small grocery store selling the essentials. I noticed yesterday that it also sells e-cigs now too, so if you want to ditch the tobacco on a night out this is your place. You'll always get friendly service and a we bit of banter from the staff, no matter how late it is. This has been a staple of High Street for many years and long may it continue.

Most of the fruit and veg sits outside, which on this particularly wet and miserable day meant that my nectarines were ever so slightly wet (mmm, rain water) and miserable looking. Plus, the plastic bags, which already take an absolute age to open, took even longer due to their sogginess. Nice. The inside of The Deli and Greengrocer was much more sunshiny, least of all because the shop dude was super smiley and cheery. "Horrible say out there, isn't it?", says he, grinning like a Cheshire cat that quite possibly also just got that delicious bowlful of cream. "Awful, I replied", smiling purely because his geniality was *that* contagious. He didn't even mind when I handed him what seemed like an absolute ton of change. Lovely man. The layout of the shop meant that I wasn't fully able to explore the rest of it. The deli section is situated just in from the door, then there's a little slope to your right with a till, and the fruit and veg beyond that. Due to there being quite a long queue (ie. three people in front of me), I couldn't edge round them, so I just made do with my watery nectarines (don't worry, once cleaned up they tasted pretty good actually). I have walked passed this Deli and Greengrocer so many times without giving it a second glance , but as they say every cloud has a silver lining and due to being out of action for a while the local stores have come into their own. This is exactly what it's name implies - a deli and a greengrocer. The Deli counter has all kinds of cooked meat and delicious types of coleslaw and the greengrocer has all fruit and vegetables which where possible is locally sourced . Their prices are very competitive and home delivery is available. I certainly will be visiting this shop on a more regular basis as I was delighted with the cost and freshness of the initial delivery.

There is an older man, of the continental persuasion, who works there and I think he is just lovely, always full of chitty chat and witty banter. I like to linger over the fruit stalls out the front because the presentation and smells are devine. I often buy fresh fruit here, Comber spuds and a little pre-made pack of stir fry vegetables that is a bargain for the amount you get. They also sell punnets of strawberries that, although a little dearer than the supermarket, fresh as the minute they were plucked - yummy. look out for other homemade delights and local fancies such as jams and jellies. The smell from traditional fruit and veg shops are just lovely reminds me of going into them when I was a child. There is a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables in this shop from strawberries, apples, bananas, kiwis, pineapples theres a great selection, vegetables theres peppers, celery, cabbages, broccoli, kale and lots more, theres a wide range of fruit and veg and the prices are good too, staff are really friendly, chatty and helpful.

Staff couldn't be friendlier and it has a great selection of goods that are generally well priced( many small local shops are exorbitantly expensive!!) You genuinely could do a decent weekly shop in here which I would say is a godsend for Groomsport's generally older population. They even sell bottles of Maine lemonade so if you are feeling nostalgic and fancy a Sarsaparilla or American Cream Soda this is the spot! Another great factor in it"s favour is that it is open 7 days a week 9am -10 pm so it is a real life saver when there is something you need and the supermarkets are closed!

Never the less this Spar store needs to serve the small Groomsport community and it certainly does that. The Spar stocks everything from fresh fruit and veg to cigarettes. This Spar also sells national lottery tickets and scratch cards. This store doesn't have any dedicated paring but you can usually get parked outside on the street. A fantastic store all in all with really helpful and chatty staff. This place has been a pillar of the community for many years

You can smell the fresh fruit and veg from the appropriately named M.Piper greengrocers from a few…read moreshops away and it instantly lures you in. I love shops like this because I do generally eat more junk food than anything else and id be more likely to buy something here than at a big supermarket. I think its a sensory thing, I can't get that same experience buying in a supermarket as I get in a small veg shop.
