It's like a market stall, but in a good way - it forces you to stop and enjoy it, and of course to ultimately buy something. The meat is good quality too, and the butcher is helpful when you are making a choice regarding cuts and quality of meat. They have some great offers on also, 8 meatballs in tomato and herb sauce for £3.80 - there is your dinner right there - you can't beat it. If you're passing by this place, pop in because you are sure to get something delicious for dinner.

They have a nice range of pork sausages with honey or pepper or chilli or....well you get the idea, there were 6 or 7 when I visited. Best of all if the cut of meat you are after is not on display or if you are after a thick or thin cut then they can cut a fresh piece for you right then and there. Lovely friendly service and happy to answer any questions you have about cuts you have.

The only trouble for me is that Arcadia is so far away up the traffic laden Lisburn Road though the longish opening hours are helpful. Plus they sell American sweets. No longer was I interested in the Snappers or the Sea Breams (yep, more fish), the Gruyere or the Gouda (cheese this time)...I eyes were solely fixed on the sweetie selection. Picking up a packet of peanut butter M&Ms (I don't like peanut butter, nor do I like M&Ms), the feeling of the novelty of purchasing something that is so highly sought after over here overcame me. And so, they were bought for the grand price of £1.49. My sister, on the other hand, eyes popping out of her head, was visibly distressed by the varied and unusual choice of confectionery which lay before her. Well, Willy Wonka was the lucky man this particular day, and she selected a packet of 'Wonka Nerds'. And now I am officially going to immigrate to the USA. Ohhh, these are good. The Co-op is another one of my local shops and is certainly one well worth its place in the local…read morecommunity. It's a mini supermarket style shop and although I wouldn't go here for a weekly shop it is very useful for a few items for lunch or dinner and has a good range of products to choose from. A good thing about the 'co' is that it has a fresh fruit and veg. section as well as a bakery that has good deals on for French breads and pastries, especially towards the end of the day when they reduce all their fresh baked produce! Handy for everything from newspapers to a pint of milk and with their opening hours being extended the co is certainly providing well for the community.
