Great dentist. Wonderful staff. I've been with them for 5 years and have to say Dr. Panec is the best dentist I've ever had. I've worked for two dentists and had a lot of dental work done. My childhood dentists traumatized me so badly I'm a "white-knuckle" dental patient. Dr. Panec is an excellent dentist. Very kind and caring. Erin in the front office is awesome and Stephanie, his dental assistant is just wonderful. My family has been going to Dr. Panec for over twenty years, so yeah, you could say we're extremely happy with the service. Dr. Panec really goes the extra mile. For instance, on a few occasions he has come in on the weekend and taken his personal time to see me to address an issue instead of me having to wait until the office is open the following Monday. That means more to me than he'll ever know, and I'm so grateful to have a doctor who's driven by his patients' well-being and invests his time with them as opposed to trying to collect as many insurance premiums as possible. As for his staff, I have nothing but high praise! They're always friendly and warm and always professional. I have to make a special shout-out to Erin in the front office who does an amazing job of handling our billing and working with insurance. In all our years of going there, it hasn't run smoother! My last visit to him was in Oct 2019 but I never went back for these reasons. First, he went back and forth chatting and laughing with the staff a LOT, leaving me with my mouth pried open and waiting for up to 10 minutes at a time. Second, I was interested in getting a dental bridge, but he kept pushing implants. I understand the pros and cons of both, and my financial and emotional situation is suited better for bridges. I tried to voice my concerns and explain to him my discomfort, but he just kept repeating the same condescending speech explaining how implants work, like he rehearsed it. Third, when I finally got through to him what I wanted, he took some imprints and x-rays and said he'd consult some colleagues and get back to me in a couple of weeks. Six months went by and I never heard back, even after a follow up email I sent. Of course, the pandemic happened and everything shut down so this never got resolved, but now I'm looking for somewhere brand new. The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because the assistants and staff were really nice and friendly and didn't make me feel super guilty for not coming in for a cleaning in two years or not flossing enough. read more

I have been seeing Doctor Panec since 1989 and feel very fortunate to have found him. It was my first semester at graduate school, and my experience with dentists had not been positive previously. Since then, I've had scores of cleaning, one root canal and 2-3 cavities. Although nitrous is available, I have never needed it thanks to extreme attention given to painless local anesthetics (seriously). The doctor's humor is notably dad-like and may offend bad-joke haters, but I would not trade the banter for silence. In the land of feel good, Doctor Panec is an oasis worth discovering! read more

Was recommended to Lee by my ortho. Went in this morning for a 9am appointment. I got there are 8:57, i know, a few minutes late for a new patient considering I had to fill out all the paperwork. They had asked me to come in 10 minutes early but due to server crashes, I was running late. I apologized as I sprinted into the office, she said it was no big deal and I could hear the dentist in the other room cleaning away on another patient, so I figured it was no big deal. I told the receptionist if it was ok if I just gave them my wifes SSN and the name of the insurance company, as thats all I had, and she said that she needed ALL the information, even though every other dentist and ortho i have been to has always said they could easily look it up. Oh well, probably a new admin who doesnt know the system. I told her to call my ortho to get it as I didnt have the card on me. She did. I was greeted by the nurse and told to have a seat in the exam chair around 9:10. I then listened to the dentist clean and work on someone elses teeth in the exam room next door...and as the time went on, I started wondering, did they book someone else for 9am? or that exam just running long....oh well. I'll be patient (pardon the pun). 9:25 comes and goes, and the doc is up in the other exam room chatting away with another patient about his daughter and how she cried over her boyfriends recent breakup...and I'm starting to wonder, does this Dentist even know/care that I'm here and its 25 minutes past my appointment time. By 9:30 he was still chewin the fat and my blood was boiling. Got up, asked the receptionist for my file, took it, and left. I was so pissed off that someone had the nerve to waste 30 minutes of my day without bothering to apologize, reschedule, etc, that I just had to call the doc and give him an earful. Needless to say, I won't be going back. I'm so fed up with doctors and dentists thinking that they are God on high and that their patients are nothing more than pond scum that has all the time in the world to waste. **Update: Since everyone has been asking how the doctor replied to my phone call, I will just say that in order to speak with him, I told the receptionist that I was another doctor calling so she put me right through, and that after I let him know exactly how I felt in a few not so kind words, he was VERY apologetic and said that emergencies came up. I told him it didnt sound like an emergency but more like a social chit chat, and he said he was working at the time he was talking. Maybe, maybe not, but he sure didnt have a sense of urgency about him. Sounded like he was catching up with old friends to me. Anyhow, he did apologize a lot, and I accepted his apology but told him I'd be changing dentist. At least at the next dentist I won't need to fill out another file as I stole theirs! read more

Had an extremely unpleasant experience with Leland. He is perversely unprofessional with an atrocious bedside manner. I wouldn't dream of ever returning! (Maybe he was having a bad day, but I can't imagine what would cause someone to behave in such an infantile manner.) read more

Talk about friendly? I have spent half my adult life with dentists and oral surgeons and have never met a nicer dentist than Dr. Panec... My regular dentist who is also amazing was on vacay and I had an implant tooth fall out.... 911 and not only did Dr Panec call me imediately after I left a message he got me in right away and I was greeted by a super friendly staff and treated like family... You must give him a holler and he will make any dental visit a great experience! read more

I absolutely love Dr. Panec's office! I started seeing him in high school after a bad experience with a dentist I had seen for a long time, so I was a little apprehensive to see someone new. My first appointment with him was great & actually entertaining...Dr. Panec is full of jokes and stories to help keep your mind off of the whole "dental drama" you may be going through. He has a family practice and really has a knack for working with children, and people of all ages for that matter, because he is so happy and funny! You can tell he really enjoys his work. His staff is also wonderful - they are always friendly and accomodating. It has been almost 10 years since I started seeing him, and I continue to do so even though I now live in the South Bay. Dr. Panec & co are AWESOME. I hate going to the dentist...but they make it bearable and I actually don't mind going every six months. They are thorough and firm. I've become a reformed flosser thanks to this crew and now I get high marks from them every time I come by. They are so thorough that sometimes appointments run over a bit. I've been going to Dr. Panec ever since I've been going to the dentist (20+ yrs.). Never have I found a medical professional that truly loves his job that ALSO has the skills to back it up . Yes, the dentist conjures up fears of needles, pain and the dreaded "drill." But at this office, its clear that it's all about YOU, the patient . Dr. Panec always ensures that I'm comfortable and in good spirits both before AND AFTER my visits. I can't help but respond to the negative account by the pompous arrogant Jay S! Number one, YOU wanted them to understand when YOU were RUNNING LATE. In addition YOU didn't come with the required info... and EXPECTED them to look it up for you. Did you think that because you are a "doctor" you should just naturally have a different set of rules? Dr. Panec does have a different style. He cracks jokes and tells stories to get his patients mind off their teeth. He takes time with you and gives you his full attention for as long as it takes to get you comfortable and keep you comfortable. Now, Dr. Panec should have come to you and let you know he had an emergency....and that was his fault. But the fact that you acted like an Ass and "stole" your own file shows your true character. Best dentist I've ever had (out of 3)! He and his hygienists are always ready with a story to get your mind off the whole being-at-the-dentist thing, and never ask you questions when your mouth is full of spit and/or instruments (I hate it when hygienists do that!). I love that the office is small and I always see the same hygienist, who remembers me each time. It is easy to schedule and change appointments, and the office location has plenty of parking and easy access. read more

I used to see Dr Panec years ago, he is a good dentist. No doubt about that. But his front office sucks. One time lady was racist. When I complained, she became argumentative. Then I suggested I need to speak to the Dr, answer was you can not. Next thing I know is a letter from Dr Panec indicating i have been dismissed as a patient. really! he may have thought I can not find a Dentist. They are plenty of good ones with respectful front office. Please do not go to this place.. unless Dr had fired the front office . read more

I went to the local dentist (in Coeur dAlene Idaho) on Saturday and when the young Dr looked in my mouth she picked and poked and I heard her say hum several times. Awesome dentist! Dr. Panec likes to keep you "entertained" while he is working since dental work is typically not your first choice on how to spend your time. Dr. Panec has enough jokes and stories to keep my mind off the fact that I'm getting major dental work. He's both professional at what he does, and entertaining...a bonus for me, as I don't particularly like being in a chair with my jaw cranked open. I have been in for emergency treatment -- obviously unplanned, unexpected, and uncomfortable. Dr. Panec went to work at once to initially get me comfortable, then began to diagnose and treat the problem. He is conservative in his treatment, but always offers me options -- explains procedures thoroughly and I have utmost confidence in his care. The hygenist is thorough yet gentle, with a very kind demeanor, and the front office staff are friendly and professional. When I go to Dr. Panec's office I know they care. Dr. Panec is professional, efficient, entertaining, and does great work. My previous dentist was not so good in retrospect. I can tell that Dr. Panec's work is perfect in comparison. He does small touches like little techniques to distract you while injecting anesthetic. He is calming and keeps you entertained and is happy to explain what he is doing in hypnotic detail. read more

Dr. Panec is hands down the best dentist you will find in the Bay Area. The comments below regarding him "socializing" during work are simply unfair. Dr. Panec goes out of his way to make ALL of his patients comfortable which INCLUDES positive and upbeat conversations while his attending to his patients. He goes above and beyond in all aspects of his job including squeezing in appointments when he doesn't have to or when his office is technically not open. wow .... dr. panec is awesome... he has come in on the weekends for me, taken extra precaution with cleaning my teeth because of chemotherapy i am on, has taken care of me and NOT just my teeth. Yep, he has a story to tell and a joke to share, all good distractions from the tedium and fear that come with sitting in the dentist chair. I have NEVER waited an unduly long time in this office and have always been treated with respect and kindness... I am sorry for the one bad experience listed below, but he wanted all his 'mistakes' forgiven and didn't show much patience on the other end.
