Dr Emad is all about the money and selling her cosmetic procedures. She sold me on a cosmetic procedure that is not covered under insurance and I paid $3000 up front for. Not only did a see zero results from the procedure but later got a copay of $20. I looked into this, as it isn't covered by insurance, and found out that she had billed my insurance too and had used medical codes that were completely unrelated to my procedure. When I confronted the office and questioned it, they told me that they didn't do the billing but would I like to talk to Dr Emad about it. I said yes and waited a few minutes. The office lady came back out and said that Dr Emad was busy but they would waive my $20 copay. What a joke. Pretty sure that is fraudulent. Started on my Hormone therapy with Dr. Emad. She put me on a plant-based pill to start with, and she also prescribed the usual cocktail of Estrogen and progesterone. After a week, I was so ill and on a wild ride of emotions. The worst I have ever felt emotionally and physically. Come to find out the plant-based Estrovera was making me sick. I had all the side effects that come along with Rhapontic Rhubarb, the plant-based medication. Which was a $130 item that I bought from the office. The kicker was that people who are taking an antidepressant shouldn't take Rhapontic Rhubarb. When I told Dr. Emad how I was feeling, she acted like she was shocked by my reaction. That is what made me look up my medications to find out what was making me sick. She seemed like she had no idea why I was feeling this way and just prescribed me another medication. I want a doctor to take the time to read my chart, know what medications I'm on, and not treat me like a cash cow. I miss my old doctor, but she retired. Ugh. read more

Dr, Emad was my gynocologist for several years until I had had enough! The last straw was that she would not give me a written prescription for a medicine she prescribed. She was totally unwilling to help me with the medicine. I find that highly unprofessional. Also, every visit she tried to sell me on her Mona Lisa laser treatment for $2500 which would have been a real waste of money. I believe she has a conflict of interest. Lela Emad is no doctor, just a money hungry sales woman who doesn't care about the wellbeing of her patients. After going to her twice trying to find a solution for my extremely painful ovarian cysts. She disregarded my pain. And told me to go on birth control. I told her I've previously tried multiple kinds of birth control and they all make me extremely depressed (like to the point of suicide). She disregarded that as well and told me she'd write up a list of birth control I should try even though I had already been very firm in my decision to not be on birth control. Not to my surprise she didn't even write me the list that I didn't want lol. I also have a swollen lymph node in my groin that she told me will go away if I get laser hair removal. She was trying to sell me on her $2,500 laser hair treatment by misinforming me that it would treat one of the issues I came to her for. I mentioned surgery for the ovarian cysts and she said you don't need that. 1 WEEK later I went to the ER for excruciating pain from my cyst and they told me I needed surgery immediately. Thanks to her negligence I had to experience the most horrible pain of my life. I can't tell you how much I despise this woman and my experiences with her. Doctor Emad was extremely unprofessional and judgmental. After asking how many people I've had sex with (not that many) she proceeded to tell me that it was a lot of people and that I shouldn't be having sex with that many people. She said " if your current partner doesn't work out next time you go to have sex with someone you need to get to know them first." Assuming that because of my body count I don't get to know my partners which is absolutely absurd. She asked me if my current partner is a good person to which I replied yes and it seemed like she didn't believe that I had a stable partner. She also told me the more people I have sex with the more likely I am to get cervical cancer, which is only true if you run into HPV. It was kind of like she was trying to scare me out of having sex. I think she should get her medical license revoked for her disrespect I wish I could give her negative stars read more

It was eight years ago, but I remember it so vividly. It was my first pregnancy, and at four months I was experiencing extreme pain and I went to the doctors. They said they couldn't hear a heartbeat but then Layla Emad came into the room and said, and Layla emad listened to the heartbeat for just a couple seconds and said, "there it is, you're good," and sent me on my way. It wasn't until a month later, when I went to find out whether I was pregnant with a girl or a boy that I was given the news that the baby was dead and had been dead for a month, measured to the exact date that I went to the doctors with extreme pain. I told EMAD and she said, "oh, I must have confused the heartbeats.." There was no sadness in her voice at all. She then chipperly said, "you're young, you'll have more." I was given two options a DNC, which she encouraged, or the pills to induce the pregnancy where she said " it's very easy, it'll come right out over the toilet!" Which was far from the truth!!!! These were full on contractions, I went to the doctor, not her, and had a full on delivery and my still child came out breach. At this other doctor's office I was treated with respect, empathy, and sorrow. They even gave me some Memoriam's. Far from what I was experiencing with my own OB/GYN with Lela Emad I made sure that she was never going to be my doctor again. read more

Not only did Dr Emad not give me the time of day, but she was rude and manipulative. When I told her I was hiring a doula she said that "Doulas are only for pregnant women who don't have partners" which is not only incorrect, but I later met a doula who worked in conjunction with Dr. Emad with a patient who had a partner. I understand if she doesn't like the idea of doulas, but she was lying to manipulate me into not hiring a doula (which is entirely my choice). She never once looked at my paperwork in which I detailed a heart condition that needs to be watched carefully as I move along in my pregnancy. When my blood work came back abnormal I had to ask her to take a look at it and when I did she shrugged it off and didn't glance at the results. When I called the office to ask if they could point me in the direction of birth classes, prenatal yoga, breastfeeding classes or any community resources for pregnancy, they told me that Emad "didn't know of any" which is absurd. read more

Being my first pregnancy I didn't know what to expect with an OB and how they should handle their pregnant patients. Every appointment I had with her felt rushed. At the first appointment my husband and I had questions and we were told to google it. At another appointment we waited over an hour with no one coming to check on us or give us a heads up. When I went to her regarding concerns of a bladder infection (I get them often and am very aware on how they feel) she made me feel like it's just the growing pains of being pregnant. She mentioned she'd call if they results come back positive for an infection. I get the results (showing abnormal and positive for the infection) over a week goes by before I give her a call to discuss them because the symptoms were getting worse. I should have called sooner but was told she'd call me if it comes back abnormal. Prescribed me medication that is not safe for a pregnant woman to cure a bladder infection. Lied on her after care summary results many times - saying I wasn't feeling certain symptoms (when I was), and saying she went over kick counts when she didn't. I can't believe I put up with this for as long as I did. Please be aware. There are other doctors who will actually give you the time of day and make you feel like they actually care about you. read more

My husband works at St.Joseph's hospital and he mentioned to another doctors that I was looking for an OBGYN. The doctor recommended that I try Dr.Emads office. I should have read the reviews first. So I scheduled an appointment for an IUD placement on The 4th of November. I emailed them a copy of my insurance card for insurance authorization purposes. The day before my scheduled appointment on November the 4th the receptionist called me to inform me that no one had ordered my IUD so she wanted to reschedule my appointment for the 11th of November I was slightly bother by this but I complied. Yesterday I go in for my appointment, staff members are not wearing mask and are openly making comments about clients while I am sitting there waiting for my appointment. During the appointment Dr.Emad starts by telling me that I should take a pregnancy test prior to my IUD placement, I explained to her that I have already taken 3 different pregnancy test within the last week in preparation for my IUD placement. Then she starts with, telling me that I should come back tomorrow. So she can put in an order for me to get the pill that helps widen the cervix to help with the insertion. I explained to her that this is my third experience with the IUD insertion. I have tried it with the pill and with out the pill. Explaining to her that I would just like to go through with my IUD placement today. So then she leaves the room and I over heard her say something through the door " Ill just wing it" confused by that statement I waited for her to come back in. She comes back in the room and says that my insurance has not been authorized for the procedure. Mind you I've been sitting on the table half naked this whole time going back and forth with this women about this IUD. She says the procedure could cost you $1500 with out authorization, and I tell her that's fine I'll pay out of pocket (btw birth control is always converted) . I just want to get this over with at this point but she keeps pushing. Explaining to me that she doesn't think I want to pay out of pocket. I explained to her how ridiculous this experience has been with both her and her office. First they didn't order my IUD for my first appointment, now I'm here and she wants me to take a pregnancy test (ok fine), then she wants me to come back tomorrow, and now she tells me they did not authorize my procedure. I'm really disappointed in the lack of efficiency and care. At this point I am extremely annoyed, this office keeps giving me the run around and obviously there is no clear leadership because nobody knows what the hell is going on! So I walked out . This is the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with any "doctor". I will not be going back, I will not refer anyone to this office. In fact I will tell people to steer clear from this ridiculous place.I will also be informing my insurance company of this situation since I did not receive any service yesterday. Today 11/13 they called me back and asked if I wanted to get my IUD placed because they got it authorized through my insurance. I kindly said no and asked that they never call me again. read more

I love this OB. She listens to your concerns, she is the most patient centered MD I've ever encountered. I was sick working as a Registered Nurse, and didn't feel pressured to go to work while throwing up and nauseated like my last OB made me feel. She actually cares about your situation, and she makes you feel comfortable talking to her, she makes every patient feel special. I can't say enough good things about her, she's delivered 3 of my c sections with no complications. I also love her new location, it feels clean and modern! read more

Dr. Emad was very unkind, uncaring and treated me like i was wasting her time. Obviously she only wanted to deal with pregnancies, not gyn problems with older women. I was in massive pain and agony from two problems. She treated me like I was faking it. Dr. Matthew Pride immediately diagnosed one issue as post menopausal dryness and suggested an over the counter product replens that solved that barbed wire pain immediately. The other issue he did surgery to address adhesions from my 20 year old c section. Those were so painful, I could not stand up straight. The surgery solved that issue. I am glad someone else was kind and compassionate enough and able to help me after Dr. Emad was so cold hearted and cruel to me. read more

I made an appointment for a gynecologic issue that had arisen. I have an MD degree and a pharmacy background, so I can usually skirt doctors, but I needed an ultrasound to make the diagnosis for this issue. Dr. Emad was pleasant enough, but offered a ludicrous guess at my diagnosis and kept pushing for preventative services that weren't indicated for me. She did order the ultrasound, but I had to make a separate appointment with a radiologist when they have and ultrasound machine in the office. The radiologist made the diagnosis which was of course nothing like what she had suggested. I kept the follow up appointment which was disappointing and I left wondering why I'd bothered to come in the first place. Later I made another appointment for a separate issue; I was told Dr. Emad didn't perform the service I requested but was given an appointment with Dr. Shah who the front desk person said would do it. When I arrived for that appointment, Dr. Shah said she didn't perform the service either but since I had shown up I would be billed anyway. I paid for a follow up ultrasound. A year later I receive another bill from Women's OBGYN. I called and left messages for three weeks before I got a call back. Vicki from billing essentially said I would have to deal with the insurance company myself even though I had changed employers and insurance companies. I expressed my displeasure with my experiences there and she said she would "pull the chart for Dr. Emad" and get back to me. Didn't hear anything, received another bill. I went to the office personally and was told all the billing people were at lunch around 11am but the front desk attendant would have them call me back. Never received a call but did receive a collection notice a while later. I can't speak to Dr. Emad's surgical or obstetric expertise, but I would not recommend her for gyen issues based on my experience. In addition, the front and back end staff appear to lack competence and it's really not worth this kind of headache when there are so many other choices. read more

1:After an ovarian cyst rupture and an ER visit at the end of 2018, i had no OB to see for f/u care because she had left the NCMA office that i was currently seeing her at and wasnt informed of her move. 2: I eventually made an appt with her to reestablish with her at the new location and at that time i was 11 weeks pregnant and CONFIRMED with her and her staff they took medi-cal. 3: I had to have 2 genetic tests ordered for the baby because the additional tests we had ordered werent done by the lab (which wasnt anything she did wrong) but the fact that i was a carrier for cystic fibrosis and she told me i was "all clear" and i wasnt a carrier for anything really turned me off... and i had to inform HER of that!! and as a patient thats some serious information i would have appreciated my own dr telling me not the other way around. 4: now at my 28 week appt, she informs me she doesnt take medi-cal anymore. and forgot to mention to me, or even INFORM me that i needed my rhogam shot as i am RH negative and its clearly in my chart that i need that shot. 5: every time i have gone in there, i always feel rushed and like she doesnt listen to my chief complaint and seems to have one foot out the door, at this point, with 2.5 months to go and now ZERO idea what to do, i am completely upset and stressed and so lost... and the nice, upbeat personality means nothing when the Dr is completely careless to the patients needs. read more

Pretty much confirmed the fact not to bother trusting regular Drs. anymore. In my opinion they're just paid drug dealers nowadays. Wasted $40 on a copay to have one of the Drs. guess what my problem could possibly be, prescribe me antibiotics as if it were candy and send me on my way with out ever actually checking to look at what my problem was. I felt very cheated out of my appt. i went to a holistic dr and she took the time i felt i deserved and ACTUALLY FIXED MY PROBLEM WITH OUT JUST SAYING "heres some antibiotics just in case and come see me again in 2 months" unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover holistic medicine but at least i can finally feel the money coming out of my pocket is worth spending. read more

Due to insurance, I was without Dr. Emad for several years, but once I changed my insurance, I immediately booked an appointment. I very much regret choosing Dr. Emad and Women's Obgyn. Not only was I given a birth control pill I absolutely shouldn't have been taking because Dr. Emad didn't read my chart, but she doesn't seem to understand birth control at all because I had to recommend an alternative myself, as she was just going to send me on my way with no options. Additionally some of the staff was rude in my interactions with them, I never did get the results of my tests (of which I now have an additional lab bill to pay they never gave any indication of), I definitely didn't feel "heard" in talking to Dr. Emad, and absolutely felt pressured by her to do a multi-thousand dollar procedure, without trying anything else to help first. It took a week to get a call back to talk about my concerns after the appointment. I could really go on and on. I will not be back to this practice. read more

Dr Emad had been my GYN for over 15 years when I told her I had a lump in my perineal area. She did an EXTERNAL exam only, feeling the lump. She DID NOT do any type of internal exam. She told me that I had hemorrhoids and that was what was causing the lump. My gut and intuition told me otherwise. I then saw my GP a month later, as it was over Christmas break, and told her what had happened and that I felt a lump. She DID an internal exam. She felt the lump and was quite concerned sent me immediately for an MRI. It turned out that I had a cancerous tumor. Had Dr. Emad taken the time to do an internal exam she might have also realized that the lump was not just hemorrhoidal. 6 months of treatment for cancer and every oncologist and doctor I saw sending records on to Dr Emad, I heard nothing from dr. Emad. It wasn't until I made mention of possibly suing her for negligence that an hour later she called out of the blue, " just to see how I was doing", and lied that she had no idea I had cancer. Not only is she a negligent doctor she is also unethical. I do not take saying that lightly and it's taken me over a year to be able to write it down. Be forewarned that Dr. Emad will not have your best interest at heart. read more
