Not only was I left in horrific pain, but I woke up to a puddle of my blood on the floor with a golf ball like mass sticking out of my incision. She opened me back up in the recovery room while the nurse gave me Valium and morphine, what seemed like triple of what they should have been giving me. My friends watched in horror. After the procedure I needed paperwork in order to withdrawal from classes for the semester as I couldn't even walk from the amount of pain I was in. Julie wrote "no complications. Lost less than 100 mL of blood". After I reviewed my blood work, I discovered that I lost almost a liter of blood. I almost needed a transfusion. This woman should never be allowed I touch another human being. Oh and before all of this, she made me wait in pre op for 10 hours before she canceled my surgery because "she had to watch her niece". The hospital gave me a $25 gift card for the inconvenience. If you're ever needing medical attention, go elsewhere!

My weekly appointments at the end of my pregnancy were on Thursdays and during my last two she stripped my membranes without asking me, the first time unsuccessfully and the second time successfully beginning my labor. I had the feeling she was trying to get the baby delivered before the weekend. Stripping membranes is not only painful and invasive but it is absolutely something that should only be done with the patient's explicit consent. Unfortunately after reading some of the other reviews here it does not seem like my experience was unique. I should also say I had really positive experiences with her staff and was sad to end my care with them. It's too bad that my experience with Dr. Cunningham overshadowed my experience with the rest of her staff by so much.

After about four months of struggling with PPD, I made the decision to pursue permanent birth control a decision I now deeply regret. I was told by Dr. Cheruba Prabakarthat my tubes could not be tied and that they had to be removed. During the consultation, she asked if I wanted more children. At the time, while clearly struggling emotionally, I said no. She stated that since I was 39, it was a good age for this procedure if I did not want more children. I understand that the decision was 100% mine, however the state of mind I was in was not capable of making a life-changing, irreversible decision. I strongly believe that when working with women -- especially postpartum women -- it is a physician's responsibility to recognize warning signs of postpartum depression and emotional distress and to implement safeguards in their practice. What I needed at that time was help and support for my PPD, not a permanent procedure that altered my body forever. Instead, the process felt quick and not thorough. There was no screening for postpartum depression, no encouragement to wait, and no discussion about how temporary emotional states can affect long-term decisions. Now, three years later, I am 42 years old and desperately want another child. Time is running out. I am now facing IVF, with no guarantee that my insurance will cover it since this is considered a decision I made for myself. My eggs are older, the odds are lower, and the emotional and financial burden is overwhelming. I wish there had been more caution, more counseling, and more time given before moving forward. I also hope that by sharing this experience, changes can be made so that another woman in a vulnerable postpartum state is not placed in this position. I am beyond sad and angry about my situation, I wish i could of tide my tubes and maybe reversal would of been an option now there is nothing absolutely nothing i can do. and time is running out.

Dr. Christianson's first question was if i live in Lamorinda. As a Nurse, I asked how her surgical approach for endometriosis surgery. Her answer was a bit questionable to me being in the field and after research & second opinion at UCSF. That is not the best option I will go for. My endometriosis has improved by 80% with UCSF non surgical recommendation. You only have one set of reproductive organs. The bay area has the best endometriosis doctors in the nation. There are other established programs (Stanford, kaiser, south). It was a mistake to go here because it was close to home.

I have always felt comfortable and genuinely cared for at Women's OB/GYN & be-YOU-tiful Med Spa. Please. I had a high risk pregnancy with kidney failure & Dr. Emad did my C-section. It was a hard experience but I did my best to stay positive. I paid every copay & made sure my account was FULLY taken care of. I haven't been a patient here since 5/2024. Out of the blue, I received a bill for over $8,000 with no statement or info as to why. Ranice in billing explained that my insurance showed i wasn't covered so now i need to pay $8,000 to Dr. Emad directly; I asked her to verify my insurance info and when she did, she said she could see on blue shield's portal that I was fully covered & this was actually just a mistake on her end- but she "couldn't just fix it" so she would resubmit the claims- this was on 6/26. Today (7/21) I got another bill in the mail reminding me to pay the $8,000. I called again to ask Ranice about the status of the resubmitted claims, she told me she never even resubmitted them... she said that i'd really just be better off calling my insurance company to figure this out myself. Even though she previously admitted it was an error on her end... This is the kind of assistance I've repeatedly received from the billing department at Dr. Emad's office, which is why i've started to document all my conversations. It's really disheartening, and as time goes on has become depressing to continue taking time away from my baby to make these calls, and in the end i still do not get any help. I've been working with my insurance company, who have actually been very insightful. Blue Shield shows zero lapse in my coverage and also has no history of asking for their money back from Dr. Emad's office. They say everything looks clean on their end. Blue Shield actually suggested that I not communicate further with this billing department, as the statements for direct payment to their office appear to be fraudulent and not based off of actual claims. I genuinely don't know who to believe at this point. I'm praying that I don't get sent to collections since the billing department here can't remedy this and i can't get any straight answers. I'm at a loss and completely exhausted from what has turned into a battle. I wish i could reccomend Dr. Emad to other Mom's, but i wouldn't wish this on any one- especially a postpartum Mom. This experience has been absolutely awful for my mental health, the stress of not knowing if I will be held responsible for this mass amount, or have it negatively impact my credit forever- has made me lose sleep. The lack of help from anyone at the office makes me feel like there's nothing else I can do to try and advocate for myself other than beg for help. I'm praying someone willing to help sees this.
